We had a fantastic 17 day trip to Sri Lanka. Our whole trip including the flight bookings was planned in detail with Aleem and the Earth Trip team, who prepared a bespoke itinerary for us, taking time to discuss exactly what to do and where we wanted to go, and the types of accommodation available, until it was precisely as we wanted. And then the local team in Sri Lanka were always on hand and easily contactable throughout our holiday.

The accommodation was well chosen as we'd discussed, and many of the small and remote places we stayed were absolutely amazing!

As well as the tour itinerary and accommodation, the best thing about our trip to Sri Lanka was our dedicated and knowledgeable driver and guide, Sameera. Sameera, was always there to help us when he was needed, but he was also careful to give us our own time and space. For 17 days we knew he had everything organised for us, and he made sure to check exactly what we wanted to do each day. Basically we didn't have a single worry or problem to deal with for the whole time, it was all taken care of. And most importantly, Sameera was so easy to chat to, interesting, funny, happy and always expert as a guide, perfect. And he was also a excellent driver!

In summary, we can totally recommend using Earth Trip if you are planning a tour to Sri Lanka.

This was our second holiday with Earth Trip and our first group tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience although it was quite full on at times and some might find the pace a little challenging. Visiting the four countries of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam all within just over three weeks is no mean feat. We certainly packed a lot in!
There were eight of us in our group plus Alex, our tour leader. He led with complete professionalism, putting us at ease at all times and ensuring our every request was granted if at all possible. Alex’s immense knowledge of this part of the world and the expertise of the local guides too, meant that we were given a truly authentic insight into the lives of the Indochinese people and their beautiful, fascinating corner of the world.
We very much look forward to discovering more of the world with Earth Trip in the future.

Aleem at Earth Trip organised our honeymoon to Mauritius. We were initially meant to be travelling to Madagascar and Mauritius but due to last minute travel restrictions, we had to change our plans a week before travelling. Aleem was excellent in planning a new itinerary for us, proposing several options and he totally took away the stress of the last-minute changes! We loved our trip and Aleem was great to deal with throughout the whole process.

We were a family of 7 travelling around Sri Lanka from Dec 22nd to Jan 7th. I contacted Responsible Travel in the UK and they put me touch with 3 companies.
Aleem from Earth Trip was the first to respond and totally outshone the others on professionalism, itinerary and price. I had done my research and had an idea of the itinerary and standard of accommodation we required and Aleem wasted no time in getting back to me with a perfect tailor made trip .
We were not disappointed in any way and all of us made memories of a lifetime time made extra special by our outstanding driver and guide Ushanka who was with us throughout.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use Aleem at Earth Trip again and will be recommending him to my sister and brother in law and also some friends who are interested in visiting the wonderful island of Sri Lanka.

After an outstanding holiday to Vietnam and Cambodia with Earth Trip in 2024 we booked 18 nights in Sri Lanka and 4 nights in The Maldives. Aleem devised an interesting itinerary incorporating bird watching, history and culture. He listened to our requests and amended the details to suit our requests. Our driver and guide Sam met us at Colombo airport and we were quickly impressed with his knowledge of birds, wildlife and history. Sam was very patient and pointed out many photographic opportunities and we came home with a fantastic array of photographs of 44 species of birds plus elephants, buffalo, deer, golden jackal and mongoose. We appreciate the Earth Trip ethos to use small boutique hotels with Sri Lankan owners. Every hotel we stayed in was special for different reasons. The wildlife and lakeside setting at Tranquil Wild at Yala. Watching local fishermen catch fish on the beach at Sundara by Mosvold. The breathtaking views at Jansen’s bungalow and watching wildlife whilst we ate. The highlight being the blue magpies. At Turtle Bay the food was a highlight. The buffalo curd and treacle from the local village fresh each day and hoppers for breakfast. The view of the hills from the bedroom at Capoe House and outstanding food. Sigiriya Kings has another stunning view this time of the two huge rocks where you could see people climbing the rock through binoculars. Again the food was excellent. The highlight was breakfast in the tree house spotting birds and enjoying the garden. I have never seen so many butterflies before drinking nectar from one type of plant. We ended our trip at the colonial Galle Face hotel in Columbo which has lots of history and its own museum !

When we were in Yala the weather started to change and it was the beginning of the cyclone. Sam drove us up windy roads to Haputale in torrential rain. He is an excellent driver and we felt totally safe. We should have stayed two nights at Capoe House but the cyclone caused flooding so we could not travel to Horton Plains or Kandy. We ended staying an extra night in Capoe House which we were very happy to do. The level of service by Jihan and his staff was excellent. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and when the weather improved they took us on a guided tour of the extensive gardens. The chef was excellent and the food so delicious and beautifully presented. Despite the cyclone we felt safe and very well looked after. Aleem was in contact with us to update us on the situation. Sam was checking in with us to see if we were ok. We thought we were so lucky to be in Capoe House being cared so so well. On the third night we were given the option of driving to Colombo and staying a night in Colombo and then driving to Sigiriya or driving for nine hours to Sigiriya. After checking Sam was ok with doing the long drive we opted for going straight to Sigiriya. As you can imagine it was a very long journey and we witnessed some of the flooding. Sam drove very carefully and was considerate of our needs for regular stops. We were so thankful to have Sam as our driver and felt totally safe. It must have been a logistical challenge moving tourists around Sri Lanka when certain hotels were inaccessible. The Earth Trip team rose to the challenge and we were booked into a hotel in Sigiriya for two nights and we then reverted to our planned hotel. For our two extra days in Sigiriya Sam booked an extra safari, we climbed Sigiriya rock and because Sam knew how much we like cooking he took us to a herbal garden. Such was the standard of service it felt stress free for us and seamless. We felt fortunate to be so well looked after given the suffering of some of the Sri Lankan people. We were sad to miss the famous train ride at Haputale and other parts of the itinerary. However, we enjoyed the wildlife, scenery, abundance and friendliness of the Sri Lankan people so much we will be booking another trip to Sri Lanka with Earth Trip.

In Jan 2025 we booked an 11 night/12 day trip to Sri Lanka over Xmas and New Year Dec 2025 with Aleem on the recommendation of my sister who traveled with Earth Trip in 2019. Aleem was quick to respond to our initial enquiry with a really detailed itinerary and made amendments to fit our budget and timeframe with no qualms at all. We then had 11 months to build up the excitement and anticipation for our once in a lifetime trip as a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters aged 14 and 16. We were not disappointed with Sri Lanka and the team at Earth trip as well as our amazing guide Chanaka who really made our trip memorable. Chanaka picked us up promptly from the airport and drove us to our first stop in Siguriya. We spent the first 3 nights at the Aliya resort which was spectacular climbing Siguriya at dawn, visiting temples and attending a great dance show in the evening. Even though the country had been hit by a cyclone just 3 weeks before, Aleem and the team ensured they kept us informed about any expectedly changes to our itinerary but the only thing that was really affected was our train trip which was cut slightly short but Chanaka ensured he moved the itinerary around to make sure we could fit the shorter trip in which was spectacular. We saw the devastation caused by the landslides on our trip through Kandy and beyond, feeling lucky to be able to visit this resilient beautiful country with the most friendly inviting population of people, I don’t think we met one person who didn’t smile or was not pleasant to us the whole time we were in this amazing country. Our trip continued through Ella, little Adams Peak, Liptons seat, a visit to a tea plantation and a herb garden, staying at the Caphoe House which was the most amazing boutique hotel outside of Hapatule. The only disappointment was our next hotel booking at RDegrees hotel which was cancelled on the day we were due to arrive by the hotel via our Safari in Udawalawe National Park. We were devasted and really upset when the hotel booked an alternate hotel which was 3 star at best and not to the standard we were expecting from R Degrees (don’t book this hotel. Read my review on this hotel just posted for the full story!!) However, Chanaka, Samid from Resferber and Aleem pulled all the stops out to get us moved to NH hotel on Bentota beach. Although it was not to the standard we expected at R Degrees (the rooms and hotel were a bit tired) the kids loved the beach, the pool which was pretty great and the food, especially the NYE gala dinner was fantastic and the staff were again just so friendly. Chanaka finished our trip with a home cooking experience and a river cruise where we saw an eagle, crocodiles, fruit bats and about 10 kingfishers! We had such a great time thanks to Chanaka and the Earth trip team and we were pretty upset when we arrived back in Manchester to 1c weather, a severe lack of palm trees, elephants wandering along the road and mad tuk tuk drivers!! Thanks to Chanaka and the Earth trip team for giving us an unforgettable family holiday and some amazing memories

This is our second holiday with Earth Trip who we met at the Manchester Travel Show in January 2025.
The first trip was a private tour in Sri Lanka in September 2024 but Indochina was our first group tour. We really enjoyed being part of a group with 6 other very friendly well traveled guests and our expert knowledgeable guide Alex who had arranged the tour.
He was keen for us to visit the main tourists sites, such as Angkor Wat but also places less well visited . The standard of accommodation was excellent especially on the Mekong cruise & our HaLong Bay extension cruise. He also arranged lots of different forms of transport and wildlife experiences.He also managed to an arrange meals to accommodate my food allergies which was not an easy task in some of the more remote places.
Our highlights were the Laos Mekong Cruise & the HaLong Bay Cruise add on, as well as the Scooter rides , the Bamboo Train & the Bat Caves, the Elephant Sanctuary & the cycle rides.

A really well organised trip which was a great introduction to Sri Lanka. Our guide Sam was one of the best guides we have had on various trips around the world. We always felt Earth Trip was in control and could vary the itinerary to respond to local conditions. The choice of hotels was very good and that application of local knowledge really showed. My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic Indochina Mekong Trip arranged by Earthtrip taking in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
We met Aleem and Alex at the holiday fair in Dublin at the end of January 2025 and they informed us of this upcoming trip which was would be led by Alec himself. Following more communications over the next week or so we decided to book the trip and I have to say we found Earthtrip very efficient and professional in every way.
The trip was absolutely amazing from start to finish and exceeded all our expectations in every way. Earthtrip did an excellent job in arranging all travel, hotels, meals, sites to visit, local guides and Alex never failed to amaze us with his knowledge of each country its history, culture and people. Alex also made every effort to ensure we all were enjoying the trip and he displayed a unique ability to sense individual needs.
For any future trips Earthtrip will definitely be considered.

Friends suggested we contact Aleem at Resfeber holidays. We were so pleased they did.
He asked what we wanted and we told him that we would like a mixture of cultural expeiences and relaxation . After discussing a draft itinerary Aleem then adjusted this as required. We enjoyed a huge ancient historical site, a visit to a village pottery, local fishing, Galle fort, a tea plantation, and the temple of the tooth in Kandy.
We also went on safari at two different sites and saw elephants, water buffalo, many birds, crocodiles, deer, land monitors and mongoose. We were particularly lucky to see a leopard.
We were amazed at the very high standard of every hotel we stayed at. The staff were polite and very efficient. The atmosphere, comfort, grounds helped us to feel relaxed. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, with all amenities anyone could wish. The food was quite brilliant, very tasty, presented well and always very fresh and locally sourced.
Fun packed 12 day honeymoon and we got way more than we expected.

This was our second trip arranged by Earth Trip and we had an amazing holiday. Thank you Aleem. Such variety in the experiences that we enjoyed. Sri Lanka is an amazing destination. Ushanka was an AMAZING guide, so enthusiastic to share his country with us. He tuned into our interests and it was great that he shared our passion for birds.

Every day was different and we enjoyed the whole experience. All the hotels were lovely and individual.

We had a tailor made tour of Madagascar. It was the trip of a lifetime; a good balance of luxury and adventure. The company was excellent, arranged everything seamlessly.

We had a wonderful 2 week trip to Brazil which we enjoyed enormously. Everything went smoothly and we were very impressed with all the guides, drivers and guest relations staff who communicated with us frequently to check that everything was okay, which we really appreciated.
We thought that the standard of the guides was excellent. Manoela, who guided us in the Pantanal, was one of the best guides we have ever had the pleasure of spending time with and her skills and experience were a big contributing factor to our enjoyment of that part of the trip.
A big thank you to all the drivers who did a great job too. In particular Tarcisio who drove us from Sao Paulo to Paraty and back across the mountains. The hairpin bends, steep climbs and descents must have been hard work for him but it provided us with some wonderful views.
We loved all our accommodation and the location of each hotel/lodge was perfect. We thought that the staff at Aymara Lodge were particularly friendly and helpful and we loved the food there too. The Belmond was very special of course and the Sandi at Paraty was very atmospheric.
We had so many different and varied experiences that it will all take some time to sink in. Thank you again for organising such wonderful experiences for us, we really loved it.

We had an amazing time in Sri Lanka, thanks to the itinerary put together by Aleem and led by our guide Ushanka. It was our first time as a family on a big adventure like this with our 11 year old and 14 year old. The original itinerary by Earth Trip was excellent meaning we got a blend of culture, relaxation, safaris and sporty activities. Ushanka was a brilliant guide for us; always happy to adapt to our family needs, fun to be with and eager to share knowledge about Sri Lanka and its incredible wildlife. Ushanka also gave us some great new suggestions that weren’t on the initial itinerary, such as visiting a tea factory as he saw we were very interested in doing some tasting. We also added another safari to Wilpatu as he said it was the best for leopards- and it was! We had the most amazing encounter with a mother and two cubs there, right in front of our jeep for 10 minutes. The hotels chosen for us were mostly amazing - our favourites were Moksha and Water Garden. Highly recommend Sri Lanka, Earth Trip, Ushanka, and Resfeber!

This was a bucket list trip for my wife's 60th, who has always wanted to see the Iguazu Falls. It was also an opportunity for me to visit family who live in BA, who I hadn't seen in decades.

It was a packed trip, with numerous internal flights and connections. Jeremy put the itinerary together and it was clear he knew what he was talking about, having met the managers of the different hotels over the years.

His advice on when to cough up and pay for a posh hotel was absolutely correct - it gave us the Iguazu falls on our doorstep, with almost nobody else there once the park had closed. Magical.

Lunch in a winery in Mendoza was fabulous, particularly the post-eating snooze on the couches placed around the vineyard, set against the awesome backdrop of the Andes. And the trip up into the hills was memorable, despite a distinct absence of oxygen.

The day trip from BA to Colonia in Uruguay, about which I was a little cynical before departure, proved to be a gem like journey though colonial south america. Very chilled, beautiful, and a lovely lunch.

After a packed few days, a couple of nights R&R on a quiet but exclusive estancia was welcome. I even went riding again, for the first time in 40 years. And the pool was lovely - we were the only users, other than the extraordinary array of bird life that was present.

We ended in Patagonia, which defied all expectations. At the planning stage we queried some of the journey times involved sitting on the 4x4 buses, but Jeremy assured us it was entirely worth it. He was right. It was simply breathtaking.

And finally, when thing did go wrong (thanks BA for the last minute flight cancellation), Jeremy was able to reschedule everything at the last minute. We lost a day, but managed to avoid missing out on anything.

It wasn't cheap. But it was excellent value.

The experience was so good, we're using Aleem and the team to help us experience Sri Lanka for our next adventure in 2026.

We had a wonderful tailor-made holiday, focusing on nature. Our experience with Earth Trip ( as opposed to the actual holiday) was OK, but communication was patchy at times, perhaps because Aleem was travelling. However, his communication with Resfaber (Sri Lanka partners) about our wishes for bespoke holiday ( hotels, itinerary and our driver) was clearly very good, as all of these were excellent. So, our holiday was 5 star, despite some hiccups in setting it up and confirming details due to slow communication at this end. One point to note is that you are unlikely to get any hotel refunds for changes made even 4 weeks ahead. It would have helped have had a deadline for when hotel bookings became unrefundable.

Reviews are tricky aren’t they? Write too little and you look to the next review, write too much and no-one reads them. Here you have a choice, as the “summary” is first; before the detail, which you can choose to read or not. It’s all good though!
My wife and I have travelled with Earth Trip on four occasions now. Sri Lanka, Madagascar, South Africa, and very recently Brazil. We continue to use this niche company because they are really exceptional, not just in planning amazing personal itineraries but in executing them from start to finish. Honestly, if you are looking for that tailor made ‘holiday of a lifetime’, or off the peg tour, with a trouble free experience, great value for money, and dealing with real experts in their field, then we would encourage you to let Earth Trip create some magic for you too.
Having had Earth Trip plan one off personal itineraries for us previously, we tried something different this year and went on a set group tour, and didn’t regret it for a second.
Brazil was never on our ‘bucket list’ but we heard Earth Trip’s Alex Robinson at the Manchester Destination Show give a presentation about travelling on the Rio Negro (a huge tributary of the Amazon) back last year, and we were so impressed we just felt compelled to look into this further. We missed out in booking that tour back in June 2024, but we were delighted that it was being offered again as package in June 2025 with Alex leading it.
Whilst Alex is a travel photo journalist, his knowledge of Brazil is excellent, (which maybe because his wife in Brazilian!), but he also has a true love of the country, and the itinerary he organised was ambitious, extensive, educational and so, SO enjoyable.
The country is vast, (bigger than Australia), so you need to fly around to see it, and see it we did. From City tours of Rio and Brasilia, to the remoteness and beauty of the Rio Negro, and the stunning wildlife of the Pantanal, we were led by Alex with local guides on an incredible trip.
We cruised rivers, saw Jaguars, giant River Otters, and an abundance of birdlife. We fished for piranha, stalked caiman by torchlight, swam with dolphins, snorkelled in crystal clear rivers full of fish, met and danced with indigenous people, and even slept in the rainforest. We learnt about the culture, the history, the flora and fauna, and of course the music.
We extended our tour a little on our own, with recommendation from Alex, to the city of Salvador, the old Capital of Brazil, and with a local guide arranged by Earth Trip enjoyed a fantastic end to our holiday.
I have friend’s that have recently been let down by a couple of the really big travel providers and been very disappointed with their expensive holidays, so what a difference a knowledgeable and considerate company can make.
I could drone on singing the Earth Trip’s praises, but hopefully you’ve heard enough now from me to use their expertise to provide you with many terrific and everlasting memories, as they have for us.

We travelled to Tanzania with the Earth trip after previously having travelled to Sri Lanka with the company in 2024. We were so happy with the excellent organisation of that trip that we choose to travel once again with the company.
As a family of 5, our 3 children are now old enough to appreciate the great privilege of travel at 16,19,21and embark on long journeys.The brief we gave Aleem was that we were looking for adventure, nature, wildlife and culture.
This was the trip of a lifetime we had dreamed of for many years and it lived up to our expectations in every way . After arriving at Kilimanjaro we hiked the foothills of Kilimanjaro, explored coffee plantations and swam under waterfalls. Then we spent a night in Arusha before driving with our excellent guides Said and Baraka to the Serengeti, stopping off to visit a Maasai tribe , visiting a coffee plantation and hike thru a banana forest.
The Serengeti was an incredible dreamlike experience and we were lucky enough to see the big 5 in two days including many prides of lions basking in the sunshine.
We spent one half day at Ngorongoro crater where we watched the flamingos and incredible bird life aswell as a rhino and it was an amazing experience in a peaceful setting .
After one more night in Forest Hill’s in Arusha we flew to Zanzibar for 4 nights of pure relaxation on this paradise island staying at the Royal Zanzibar hotel which was perfectly located on the north of the island. I would recommend this hotel and the restaurants along the beach were excellent

We have recently returned from a thoroughly enjoyable, tailor-made holiday, organised by the incredibly knowledgeable Aleem and The Earth Trip team. Having used this small independent company before, we had high expectations of our 2025 tour of Sri Lanka. Aleem has always appreciated our needs and preferences, created unique experiences with a mix of exceptional accommodation. The tour was well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. Our friendly driver/guide, Sampath, was knowledgeable, professional and took great care to ensure we were safe and made the most of our trip.
