We met Aleem at the Destinations Show, heard him speak about Sri Lanka and instantly decided we should go. We spoke to him about what we wanted to see - the best of Sri Lanka and a variety of culture, wildlife and scenery, with 48 hours of R&R at the end - and he met the brief perfectly.
Nihal, our driver/guide, was lovely. He was always early ( which we liked, because so are we! ), the car was always spotless, and he was a fount of information on the country and its people and customs. All of our hotels were wonderful – and the way we started, at Palm Villa Garden Hotel, a lovely jungly hotel with monkeys, lizards and tortoises everywhere, was perfect. It was also a really inspired idea to start us off with an all-day Wilpattu safari, since we were very tired after flying through the night and it was great to be driven around all day! Our driver was SO upset that he didn’t find us a leopard – he tried so hard: it was nearly 6 before we left Wilpattu and we kept on assuring him we really didn’t mind not seeing a leopard since we had seen so many other wonderful birds and mammals!

The highlight was undoubtedly the Cultural Triangle, although that is a close call. Kandy on Good Friday was really special as it was a Poya weekend, so there were thousands of people flocking into the Temple of the Tooth Relic by the time we were there at 6.30 in the morning. Afterwards we were able to go to the Anglican Church next door to celebrate Good Friday, which was also a wonderful experience. I loved the Hill Country. The weather was what I would expect in Scotland, which it reminded me of, and we did go and have dinner in the Hill Club, which was pretty unforgettable. We also came back with a LOT of tea – and some gemstones which have now been set into jewellery. There were the inevitable visits to retail outlets - a Spice Garden, Gem house and batik shop - but the first two at least were of very high quality and we didn't mind.

I have to confess that – and I speak as a true fan of curries – that I couldn’t cope with the chilli heat of the Sri Lankan full-on curry, but all the hotels we ate in catered for the less adventurous. I am now totally addicted to black tea and, in particular, to Watalappan. We ate that wherever we could. In fact on our last night, at the Cinnamon Grand ( what a fabulous hotel that is ), we ate in Lagoon, their seafood restaurant, and although it wasn’t on the menu, our lovely waiter found us some from another restaurant. Now, that IS service.

I should say that I have cancer, so we chose to stay in very good hotels where there were less likely to be issues over hygiene and food preparation. They were 4*, and universally superb, although the Cinnamon Grand is, I believe, 5*. We weren't expecting the physically demanding steps at certain sights - Sigiriya, Mihintale - but I coped overall very well despite the searing heat. i should have done more prior research!

So – in summary, Aleem got it spot on. We saw nature, culture, towns, villages – the whole gamut. The hotels were without exception, superb and in every single one, the staff were lovely. The driver could not have been better and the guides he used in the various sites were exceptionally well-informed and all very interesting people in their own right.

Ours was an excellent tour which fulfilled most of our expectations (nothing's perfect in this world!). With our own research and help from Aleem we were able to tailor the tour to suit our interests and the pace we needed to absorb the experiences. We could have spent longer had funds permitted!
We had a driver/guide, new to us as elsewhere we've had driver and guide. This made conversation in the car difficult sometimes but not a problem. Although old the car was well maintained and always clean and tidy. However, my husband did have difficulty getting in and out of the car as space was tight. There were a few issues with the air conditioning which were dealt with promptly. One or two unscheduled stops (back-handers?) but mostly we were asked if we would like to visit retail outlets. Otherwise all went well.
A good mix of very comfortable hotels, lovely food and very attentive, polite and smiley staff!
Overall an excellent experience, Thanks to all the team.

just returned from 2 week tour of Sri Lanka organised by Aleem. truly amazing experience from temples, to mountains, ancient ruins and spectacular beaches. Hotels were amazing with variety of wonderful views and tastes in food. Highlights included Sigiriya rock fortress, climbing Adams peak in the middle of the night, strenuous but what an experience with thousands of other worshippers! Seeing a green turtle laying eggs at Tangalle! Visit to Kalametiya bird sanctuary early in the morning with an abundance of colourful birds. Whale watching from Mirissa seeing Blue Whales. Safari parks galore especially Udawalawe with many elephants.
Our driver Roshan was exceptional , punctual , knowledgeable and provided a great insight into local tastes and culture.
So thank you to you Aleem for arranging such a wonderful experience!

Aleem and I first met at the Travel Destinations Show in Manchester 2018. I had the framework of what I was wanting to do on a visit to Sri Lanka, he made it happen. Very many thanks Aleem for interpreting my requests in every regard ; I can strongly recommend the Earth Trip in every way. When I decided on a holiday to Sri Lanka I wanted to go with a small independent company who could tailor make the trip personal to my husband and myself and was environmentally aware. The Earth Trip seemed to offer this and from the moment I spoke to Aleem I knew that I’d made the right choice. I had done quite a lot of reading and research beforehand so had a good idea of the places we wanted to visit and some we wanted to avoid.
Aleem definitely listened to my ideas and came up , after a couple of adjustments and his suggestions with an itinerary that fitted the brief.
The information he provided before the start of the holiday and the schedule was invaluable.
From the moment we were met by Mangalla ( our driver) at the airport we had the most amazing time. The hotels and eco lodges we stayed in were excellent particularly Madulkelle in the Knuckles mountains area, Gal Oya lodge, 98 Acres in Ella and Shinagawa Beach in Balapitiya.
The safaris in Wilpattu, Gal Oya and Udawalawe National Parks were fantastic with very knowledgeable guides. We visited Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla each being fascinating and again with great guides.
Throughout the trip Mangalla kept us informed of what would be happening each day. He was always punctual and the car was immaculate. He has a great depth of knowledge of the history, cultural and wild life of his country.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Earth Trip when planning a trip to Sri Lanka. Personal service and in depth knowledge of the country certainly made the experience an unforgettable one. A huge thank you to Aleem and his team.

We had a very enjoyable three weeks in Sri Lanka with accommodation and locations being of the very highest standard. We had a driver/guide with us for the duration who was supposed to be fluent in English. He was a lovely guy but his English was not to a conversational level let alone that of a guide.

I used Earth Trip to plan a vacation to Madagascar and it was an outstanding experience. It was very easy to set up my trip and it all unfolded with perfect smoothness from the moment I arrived until the sad moment when I left. I really appreciated that Earth Trip partners with local guides and businesses for the countries in which they organize travel. Every hotel, every meal, every adventure was well planned and very well executed. My mum and I are planning on returning to Madagascar in about 2 years to see those parts of the island that we didn't have time for on this trip and it will definitely Earth Trip that we use to plan that vacation as well -big thanks to Aleem and all of the Earth Trip team that made our adventures so amazing!

We have just returned from 25 day holiday touring Sri Lanka, organised by Aleem at Earth Trip. Our holiday exceeded all expectations! We had combined nature, history and culture as well as a few days ' rand r' at the end. Aleem had understood our requirements perfectly and his suggestions for our tour were spot on! The total cost of our holiday was very reasonable compared with other companies.
All the arrangements worked perfectly, the hotels were all different but of a very high standard. Our driver/guide Nihal was excellent as were the local guides. Because of his extensive knowledge of Sri Lanka, Aleem suggested various places not normally on the 'tourist trail' We really enjoyed visiting Wilpattu NP and excellent sightings of 2 leopards. Gal Oya Lodge was another revelation!

We would highly recommend this company.

We had less than two weeks in Sri Lanka but Earth Trip helped us build an itinerary that left us with wonderful impressions of the landscape, history, wildlife and people. We discussed our preferences with Aleem: “not too many beaches or resorts”. Instead we wanted to visit sacred and ancient sites, experience some of the smaller towns and connect with a local family through a homestay. We also pencilled in independent days to do our own explorations. Both Aleem and Izabela from Earth Trip listened to our needs and helped us make the most of our time.

Everything went according to plan. Our journey began in a comfortable bungalow in Beruwala, with a resident cook that made excellent breakfasts. Our driver and occasional guides were all pleasant and conscientious. We went on a river trip down the Madu Ganga and later that day we went to a fish market where our guide bought what we needed for a barbeque dinner. On our third day, we were dropped off at Galle Fort and left to our own devices. There was a lot to see and do at the ancient sites Anuradhapura, Sigiriya and Dambulla, but we also had quiet days where we took in the local street scenes, discovered bustling weekend markets, and explored untouristy local restaurants. We took in an elephant safari in Kaudulla National Park as recommended by Aleem: this was a highlight of our trip—getting to be amongst a herd of 60+ elephants.

We spent our precious final days in Sri Lanka on a homestay that Aleem arranged. We visited a tea plantation near Kandy with our hosts, a family who not only cooked many delicious meals for us, but also taught us to make the signature Sri Lankan dessert watalappan, and have stayed in touch with us. We have so many wonderful memories, and have Earth Trip to thank for making it all possible. Every member of their team was caring, responsive and attentive and we would definitely recommend this tour operator.

We have just come back from a 2 & 1/2 week tour of Sri Lanka. The booking process was easy, with Aleem being very accommodating and helpful. The country is fantastic but we regret travelling with this company.
The problem was that the local tour office that Earth Trip used (Amith tours) provided us with a "guide" (Prabath) who had barely any English and no experience or training. I emailed Aleem who apologised and promised an experienced replacement called Mangala to join us on our 3rd day.
The guide who came to take over, Asoka, was from the Kandy office and clearly didn't want to be there. I think it was a while since he'd been out and about with tourists.
They often struggled to find our accommodation, we'd arrange a time to meet in the morning and they were often late (1/2-1hr), there were detours to try and get us to visit places where I can only assume there was a backhander for the guide or company. I had emphasised on booking that we were interested in train travel and the tour included a "scenic train ride" at a specific time one day, but no reservations had been made and we were so squeezed standing between people in a corridor we saw very little.
In conclusion, if you book with Earth Trip, my advice is to make sure they are not using Amith Tours!

Booked having met the owner at a travel fayre. Very knowledgeable and gave us a great itinerary to work with - we changed a few bits and have to say now having been on the trip the itinerary was fantastic and very carefully put together. The variety of activities was fabulous - culture, history, scenic drives, train trip, whale watching, cooking lesson, tea factory, elephants / turtles. Choice of hotels was very good - couple not to our suiting but also due to the location of some places to visit meant not lots of choice. Some were amazing- Heritance Tea Factory and 98 Acres W15 in particular. Our designated driver met us st airport and was with us for 22 day’s. Always punctual, vehicle new and clean. Even went to his house for dinner. Great personal guides at every place of interest. This is the way to do Sri-Lanka. Nice touch meeting the owner of Earth Trip for drinks and feedback on our last night. Thoroughly recommend Earth Trip.

We met Izabella in Dublin at the holiday show 2017, after speaking with a very nice Gentle Man from the Sri Lankan government. He told us he was not selling tours only selling Sri Lanka and he did a good job so we asked him who should we talk to about going to Sri Lanka and that is how we came in contact with Earth Trip. (he gave us a couple of option but the Earth Trip was just around the corner) Izabella was so enthusiastic we felt we should at least look at it. We had not intended going to Sri Lanka or on any big holiday this year. Then we had follow up emails very quickly from Aleem not pushy just enquiring if we were interested and what our budget would be. I was slow about it but Den was very keen so we gave a budget and there rest is history. We both felt they were so interested in giving us a hands on personal experience, and I ran Aleem several times to clarify details Then we had a set back as Den had to have an operation and all was on hold and after all the time they spend on doing a tour for us for which they might not get a penny yet they were so nice to us. Thankfully Den recovered really well and all was back on track. We went in September Flew Cork to London and London to Colombo. We had our own Lovely driver, stayed in the most beautiful places. All the places we stayed were excellent, including the home stay, would recommend people to do a home stay it gives you an insight into the live of these beautiful people.
We did load of planned activities but also were able to add in activities of our own. High light were Lipton's Tea Plantation, Minneriva Nationa Park, The rain forest (even though it was a bit tough going for us it was a great experience) Galle , but we would conclude the most memorable thing for us was the people and especially where we stayed in Galle, the Thambapanni Retreat, the staff were amazing, they took to us and we took to them. Also we had this local Tuck tuck driver Siri . We would not hesitate to recommend Earth Trip, I am the cautious one always wanting to see is this a scam, no this is the real deal, a company who know their country and want your to enjoy it. You wont be sorry if you use them 5star service all the way and that is more to do with the personal touch than the 5* hotels that forget about the customer . A trip of a life time

Earth Trip were one of 5 companies that we contacted concerning our holiday to Madagascar. We chose to travel with Earth Trip due to a combination of great value and customer service provided by Aleem.They tailored our itinerary to our requests and provided prompt answers to our questions.Once we were in Madagascar, we were greeted by the local team member (Mialy) who introduced us to our driver and reassured us that they would be available throughout our stay.
The hotels were varied from stylish beach resort to Eco lodges in the heart of national parks. But each one was clean and comfortable with generous and tasty food. The only small grumble we could mention would be that a number of the hotels had not taken into account that my wife was a vegetarian, which meant that the options available for her were very limited.
Our guides in the national parks were knowledgeable and made our walks interesting and did their utmost to find us Lemurs and other aniamals.
Finally our driver spoke good English, was very safe and pointed out places of interest on our journey while sharing his knowledge of Madagascan culture.
I would not hesitate to recommend Earth Trip and their partners in Madagascar to anyone wishing to go on a wonderful, funfilled holiday.

This is not the usual holiday review as we most unfortunately had to cancel because of our worries about the Pneumonic Plague epidemic in Madagascar which was deteriorating quite severely just as we were about to fly in the middle of October 17.
Aleem was most understanding and spared no pains in his attempts to alter our trip such that we could feel comfortable in the situation and when he couldn't ,we were extremely grateful that he did manage to get us some monies returned.
We hope to re-book sometime in the future and when we do, will have no hesitation in going back to Earth Trip to arrange it for us.

We had a holiday to Madagascar in early October 2017, which was organised by Earth Trip. Right from the start, Aleem was extremely helpful and flexible with providing information, advice and planning our itinerary.
At every step of the way, all our guides and drivers in Madagascar were where we had agreed to meet them - all very reliable, friendly and helpful. The accommodation & meals we had were great - many of them better than we initially expected. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable holiday and would definitely recommend using this company.

We would like to thank The Earth Trip Company for arranging our fantastic holiday/tour to Sri Lanka & The Maldives, we did a 16 night trip firstly to Sri Lanka, all the itinerary, hotels, tripso & tour guide was all sorted for us by Aleem he was very patient when we wanted to change hotels & the time of travel nothing was too much for him to sort out, all our hotels were of excellent standard & we received amazing hospitality in all the 7 hotels booked.
Ravi was our tour guide for all of the holiday he was so lovely & polite & went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable time, all the excursions were fantastic i.e The Elephant Orphanage, Walking Up Sigiriya Rock, then arranging a massage after, The Safari where we saw a Leopard in the tree, and so much more. The Maldives was just gorgeous & Ravi called us when we were there, just to make sure everything was okay for us, just amazing for him to check after we had finished our trip in Sri Lanka.

We booked a trip to Sri Lanka as part of our honeymoon and the experience was perfect. I had already done quite a bit of research into where we wanted to go so i sent a list to Aleem and he put it into an appropriate itinerary and made several suggestions. It was completely customised to exactly what we wanted and Aleem was the only person (we contacted 5 others for quotes) who actually listened to what we asked for and did not just provide a standard itinerary with aspects we didn't want.

Once we had booked the tour we were provided with so much formation from exchange rates, local customs, health advice, visa information and how much to tip and where. This really was much appreciated ad made things a lot easier for us.

When we arrived in Sri Lanka we were greeted by our driver who had gifts for us, and he was fantastic throughout the entire journey. he was very flexible and moved things around based on the weather or if we were feeling a bit tired. The car was of a good quality and we could 100% trust the driver with our valuables and our safety.

The hotels were all fabulous and had all been informed it was our honeymoon so we got lots of upgrades and additional benefits. What really made it special is all of the tours we had arranged were private and with very good tour guides/companies, no corners had been cut and we felt like VIPs the entire trip.

I cannot recommend Aleem and his team enough, we had a fantastic experience and will be looking to use them again in the future.

We met Aleem at the Destinations Show in February as we were considering a trip to Sri Lanka. He was very helpful and sent us a great itinerary. We did our research and contacted other larger companies but after consideration felt Earth Trip gave us the tour that fitted us best and at a good price. Our friends also liked the look of this tour and came with us. We had a driver who was with us for the duration of our 18 night tour. He ensured our safety, wellbeing and comfort throughout the tour and we could not be more pleased. We all had an amazing trip and were very happy with the arrangements made.
