Elderly neighbours aged 89 had received…

Elderly neighbours aged 89 had received a letter from this company stating that they had joined and free trial due to end. They have never signed up for this.
I emailed customer service stating cancellation and asking for proof of accepting the offer.
They replied confirming cancellation but ignored the request for proof. Received a reply stating that thay had cancelled membership and that it was linked to Pet Rewards. I advised that dont have any pets and still requested proof of membership, Despite a further 3 emails they are now ignoring !!!!!
I have chased again and asked neighbour to check his bank acc.
This type of scamming company needs to be shut down.. Disgraceful

Scam

Had an unsolicited phone call whilst driving telling me I was due a £70 on an Easylife order. This was a lie. Three weeks later I received a letter telling me I had free membership of a motor rewards scheme. It went on to say that unless I cancelled they would take £65.99 on the card last used for an Easylife purchase. I immediately phoned and cancelled, Two days later they tried to charge the £65.99 on my credit card. Fortunately my credit card company declined the payment and replaced my card. quite frankly this was attempted theft

Scam scam and double scam

Scam scam and double scam.
An 89 year old was charged £18.50 and £69.49,
purportedly for paying for gardening club items by credit card.
Doesn't use the internet and doesn't garden.
She rang to find out what the charges were for and was offered vouchers 'which could be spent anywhere'.
Hm will ring them and the credit card company!

Scammers

Scammers, they have started to take out payments from my elderly parent of £18.50. Spoke with them on Friday, as my mum gave permission for them to speak with me, as I noticed 2 payments had gone out within a matter of weeks, and then today there is another payment pending for the same amount, have reported it to the bank (on Friday) and hopefully todays payment will not go through and that we will recover the other 2 payments.

Still scamming!!

I couldn't agree more with the reviewers who have identified this company as scammers and thieves and also linked with Easylife.
I had a phone call out of the blue whilst in the car and was subsequently sent a magazine which I promptly cancelled well before a supposed 'end date'. I happened to look at my bank account and found that £81.99 had been taken and a few days later a further £21. I contacted the bank and the £81.99 was recovered. I wrote a letter - they say they'll respond in a week of receipt - asking for a refund as no purchases had been made. I also asked how they got my telephone number and bank details. I had no reply and still no refund. Checking company records I saw a possible link with Easylife and realised that I had bought an item from them in recent years. I suspected that they passed on my details and I suspect the companies are linked in several ways. I suggest you don't buy anything from Easylife. I will be writing to the DailyMail as the Easylife mag was an insert in their weekend magazine.

The Rewards Club & Easylife are stealing your money, and you're probably not even aware of it

Made 2 purchases from Easylife - 2 yr ago, and 4 yr ago.
Checking me credit card statements, I found 3 payments, approx £69 each, over the course of 12 months.
Rang Easylife, they said 'not us, we'll put you thru to Rewards Club.
The guy said I must have taken out 3 subscriptions.
I told him I've never spoken to Rewards Club, nor taken out any subscriptions.
I told him my money had been stolen by them, and that this was Fraud.
An argument ensued, after which I was told that if I send an email to them, I'd get all the payments refunded, so I did this.
I'm now waiting, and in the meantime, I have reported this to The Insolvency Service.
phoned Eastlife CS, and asked what these 3 debits were
Their immediate answer was, 'not us, you have only bought 2 things from us in the past, it must be The Rewards Club, I'll put you through to them'.
The Rewards Club said I must have taken these "subscriptions" out - I said no I didn't, and told them taking my money without my authorisation, constitutes FRAUD & THEFT.
They immediately agreed to refund all 3 transactions.
If I hadn't checked my statements and queried these, The Rewards Card would probably have continued to periodically take money out of my account, without my permission, nor my knowledge.
It's worth mentioning that at no point have I ever received any correspondence mentioning The Rewards Club, any such subscriptions, withdrawal of any money from my account, nor receipts for any payments - everything was done undercover.
There must be thousands of people who are being robbed of their money, without knowing it.
I reported this to my credit card provider, to the Merchant Fraud Dept, but they weren't interested.
They told me if I was out of pocket, they would credit my account, but they do not take any action against the merchant - it's not their job to do this
So here we have financial fraud and theft, with the Bank, very much involved, and they're "not interested"!!
Then who is???
And here we have the 2 companies, both seemingly associated in this systematic fraud/theft, continuing their illegal activity, and getting away with god knows how much money, and anyone who twigs what is happening and queries the transactions, just get their money back (with a 'no harm done' smile and apology).
That's OK for them if so few people spot this, as the "rewards" for them must be huge.
.............. and no one, in a position of responsibility, cares, nor does anything about this !!!!!
Just look at the score - 98% 1 star -probably 0 star.
What does this tell you about Easylife and their Rewards Club.
You have been warned, not just by me, but also by the other 98 people who have left reviews for these thieving companies.
Just remember, a majority of customers haven't got a clue what is happening, and just how much is being taken out of their accounts without their permission or knowledge.

The scam continues!

Thanks for all the reviews below. I was able to read them out to the person who just tried to scam me because I had purchased some face masks during Covid!! She said she would start a magazine subscription using the same card UNLESS we declined during the free trial period. The temptation put forward was so-called cash-back vouchers, which probably require even more spend to use!! I do hope Trading Standards are on to this as others have suggested.

Don't touch these people. They said I had signed up with them. I had not. I contacted them and told them to cancel anything to do with me. Then a month later I get contacted by my credit card company to say they have declined a payment to these people, was this you. I said definitely not. I have had to kill the card and get a new one

This company tried to scam my elderly father and told him they would send him a catalogue and charge him for it despite him saying he didn't want it. Luckily he emailed them to cancel so hopefully he will not be out of pocket but do not trust this company.

Beware... especially the elderly.

For the record, my 92-year-old neighbour didn’t understand why she received, during March 2024, two boxes of books and two invoices for £32.95 from the EasyBookClub. I then found she had a sales brochure from a company trading as easyLife, with its front cover illegally promoting itself by use of a fake image of easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou. I am glad to say that my neighbour’s bank, HSBC, acted immediately to stop further payments and to credit her account.

So, do beware of any promotion from The Rewards Club and its string of motoring, cooking, book, gardening, well-being, colouring book, puzzle book, PERX, rewards… and any other scams that may soon be available!

NEVER BUY FROM EASYLIFE

My elderly mother, having made a recent phone purchase from Easylife, subsequently received 3 letters in the post on 23 March 2024 informing her that she had been signed up to 3 Rewards Club subscriptions (£79.99 and £69.50 annual subscriptions and one £19.99 quarterly). Cancellation is required by 5 April 2024. She had not agreed to any of these. Fortunately she straight away phoned the credit card Fraud helpline and managed to get a block put on her card before any payments were taken. Given that her card details are now in the possession of Easylife (and given other reviews on here) she has also had to cancel her credit card and get a new one. We will be reporting Easylife and Rewards Club to Action Fraud.

Totally illegal and dishonest company

This must be the most dishonest company going. Despite cancelling before the end of the free trial and receiving confirmation of the cancellation, they have attempted on 3 separate occasions to take money from my account. Avoid them like the plague or they will screw you over.

Inconsiderate sales people

What went wrong, I am sick to the back teeth of you people constantly ringing me even though I have told you religiously to remove me from your accounts. I have just had a 8hour operation regarding breast cancer and although I have explained this to you this does not stop you constantly ringing me.

My elderly mother who is 94 years old…

My elderly mother who is 94 years old showed me her bank statement, on there were transactions in one week adding upto £153

I found out who had taken the money and it turns out to be the rewards club. I asked them what the £70 was taken for, they said it was for pet rewards but there nothing on their website about this reward

She told me someone phoned her about this reward, a company, based in the UK had cold called a phone number registered with the TPS service.

To cut a long story short, this company has been reported to the relevant authorities over their behaviour

The bank has highlighted the transactions as fraud and refunded all the money, it also appears another company was also involved

To date, in one week, I have seen over £300 refunded back to my mum's bank account.

I have emailed this company to tell them to remove her details from their database and not to contact her again.

Check which companies are contacting your older relatives and keep their finances safe and secure

Preying on the vulnerable

I, like many other reviewers before, want to warn about the sales behaviour of this company. They have taken advantage of my 82-year old mother and used her data. She was signed up to very expensive subscriptions without her informed consent and no paper trail. It is unscrupulous selling to elderly and vulnerable members of our society.

Easylife - disgusting behaviour

Like most people I received a call from a very persistent woman who I repeatedly told I wasn’t interested and certainly wasn’t signing up to anything. Then a week later I get 3 letters from different clubs called The Rewards Club which it turns out are in fact Easylife saying I’d signed up and needed to cancel, which I ignored as I assumed they had no details on which to take money from. Yesterday I got an alert from my credit card company where they had repeatedly tried to take 5 different transactions from my account which were blocked as it seems they are well known to credit card companies for fraudulent actions. My credit card is now blocked to prevent them trying to take further payments which has now messed up DD payments due on Monday as their customer service is only open Monday - Friday. I have been told that Easylife need to remove all my details from their systems following a previous purchase (not a subscription) from nearly 3 years ago, because even if I have a new credit card they can try to take money from that as well. Very very annoying. I have no doubt they are breaking all GDPR rules and need to be sorted out ASAP. I’m certainly not a vulnerable person but have been caught out so someone will be getting a rocket on Monday.
