Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking, van direct auto renewed my policy on my van twice with separate policy numbers but the same van and they took payment twice ? After 4 days of constant calling with no answer I finally got through and explained my situation where they cancelled one of the renewals and charged me £140.00 admin fee for the service. I now want to cancel my policy altogether and after 7 days calling and requesting a call back, nothing. The portal works fine unless you are cancelling a policy where then they do not want to know. Don't get me started on the "on hold background music" enough to make you want to too yourself. I'll never use them again. 🤧
Had a phone call today 29/04/2026 from charlie burn, Company satisfaction director, and now everything is sorted with a massive apology 😀 many thanks charlie, with your explanation etc you have boosted my confidence in van compare direct 😀

Not great

I tried to cancel multiple times was on hold once for around an hour waiting to speak to someone. Cancelled direct debit as had sold the car then was sent threatening emails about recovering lost money. When I finally managed to speak to someone they advised me there was a cancellation fee… fine fair enough. However they then decided to take the money without my knowledge from my bank (in the hundreds by the way).

Edit: had a decent chat with a customer experience director i believe his name was Charlie? Very helpful and remedied at least some of the issues i had with this company. Like to pass my thanks on to him.

Do Not use - breach GDPR

I completed one quotation, made sure there was no boxes ticked to received any calls / emails afterwards, yet I have been absolutely bombarded with calls non-stop since, all from different numbers.

I have contacted their customer complaints and had no response.

Reporting the business for a breach of GDPR as it appears they pass on / sell your contact info.

Oh, and the best quote was double that of other sites.
