You get given different and wrong…

You get given different and wrong information from staff and when you ask for answers that require them to steer away from their script they straight up refuse to acknowledge your questions. Should never have taken finance out with them. Avoid.

An excellent company for car finance very easy transaction not had any reason to call so cannot comment on customer service. Sure it's great also.

Absolutely shocking service

Absolutely shocking service. Wanted to VT my finance, they said that’s okay- every time I email it takes another 5 days to get back to me. Was told auction company would collect the car on Thursday and for myself to email close brothers finance back to confirm as there was an outstanding payment! Did this right away and no sign of the auction company due to close brothers lack of communication.

Booked a day off work to hand over the car and didn’t even turn up

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Close Brothers Motor Finance.

After exercising my legal right to voluntary termination under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and paying more than 50% of the agreement, the process has been unnecessarily difficult and stressful.

There were significant mechanical issues with the vehicle from early on, and despite attempts to repair it, the problems persisted. Instead of handling this fairly, Close Brothers are now trying to charge me £1,846 based on a reduction in the vehicle’s value — not for actual damage caused by me.

This does not reflect the legal position around voluntary termination, where customers are only responsible for reasonable care, not mechanical failures.

Communication has been slow and unclear, and the whole process feels designed to pressure customers into paying charges they may not legally owe.

I would strongly advise anyone considering finance with Close Brothers to fully understand their rights before entering into an agreement.

Very disappointing experience.

I am writing to formally raise a…

I am writing to formally raise a complaint following my phone call today (17 March at 9:47am) with your representative, Aqiilah.

This issue has been ongoing for over a month. I have repeatedly requested a letter of clearance regarding my agreement, and each time I am told to wait 48–72 hours. Despite this, the document is never sent.

Additionally, I am extremely concerned about the level of customer service I have received. On a previous call, when I requested to speak with a supervisor, I was informed they were “at lunch” at 10:50am. Today, I was told that there is no line available to transfer to a supervisor at all. This inconsistency reflects very poorly on your company and raises serious concerns about how customer issues are handled.

During today’s call, I also felt that Aqiilah was attempting to end the conversation before my issue had been properly addressed, which I found disrespectful and unprofessional.

At this stage, I expect:

Immediate resolution of my request for the letter of clearance

Clear communication regarding my case

Access to a supervisor or someone with the authority to resolve this matter

If this issue is not resolved promptly and I continue to receive inadequate support, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter further, including submitting formal complaints and continuing to leave reviews reflecting my experience.

I look forward to your urgent response.
