Kinda regret buying a Hyundai
Kinda regret buying a Hyundai. Hope they step up and widen the service network.
I purchased a car on 17th December…
I purchased a car on 17th December around a week later I came back to the car to find the driver’s front window down car was locked!!…
Then on the 28th I went to my partner’s to drop some Xmas presents off I went in to house to use the toilet and have a brew…
When I came out all of my Xmas presents were gone 500£+ it absolutely wrecked my Xmas and my partners family…
I have sent 3 emails to some email on a receipt no reply maybe off work for holidays??
Reading these messages I am not confident of a solution to this…
I can’t trust the car that it won’t do it again and it rains!! I am terrified to go out to the car in the morning & they have a bad record regarding the electric window system…
The car is a hiundi BAYON
Thank you for reading this
And hope it makes people think twice….
The worst finances company and customer service
This is my first and only time I would ever buy a Hyundai product. I love the car the style and technology. However to get an appointment for the oil change takes forever.
I started to buy out my car off of lease I sent the check for 32,000 the Hyundai finance which was the negotiated price.
They sat on the check for a month I am still not getting it back in the meantime said I did not make a payment and send it to the credit bureaus that I missed a payment. The reason I miss the payment I was waiting for them to process the purchase. I've spent numerous hours on the phone trying to remedy this problem to no avail.
Hyundai Chatswood Dealership Poor Vehicle Service
In March 2025, I submitted an official claim to Hyundai Australia under warranty in relation to ongoing defective Engine concerns. See- hyundaiengineclassaction.com.au
Hyundai Australia agreed to completely replace my cars Engine after inspection by the Chatswood Hyundai Dealership Service Centre, confirming validity of my claim for a $160 inspection fee. Engine work was then booked in and carried out by the Chatswood Dealership mechanics free on April 23, 2025, along with a full 130,000km Service and Rego check, which cost me $906.00. My Car was finally returned to me on May 12, 2025. However, upon its return, I immediately noted the vehicle now had a significant shudder issue. Vehicle was thus returned to Hyundai Service on May 14, 2025, for follow up. The Service manager reported that one of the wheels wheel weights had come off causing the wheel to become unbalanced. Chatswood Hyundai Service "rebalanced, driven both on road and on the hoist and found it to be significantly better and back to normal" Vehicle was again returned to me on May 16, 2025, but upon finding the vibration still present at regular intervals at speeds of 60k/ph, Vehicle was returned to Hyundai Service again on May 21st, 2025. This time, the Service Manager said the cause of the vibration was in fact due to the wheels, which were found on the front to be buckled. Hyundai Service carried out swap of new Tyres to wheels currently on rear of Vehicle, balanced and refitted to front of Vehicle. "Road tested and that all was now OKAY”. Vehicle was then returned to me on May 25th, 2025. To my complete dismay, significant shudder issue STILL existed. Vehicle was AGAIN returned to Hyundai Service on June 5th, 2025. This time, the Service Manager reported that after road testing vehicle in an environment where they were able to replicate the conditions described by me and upon checking the data on the vehicle, Hyundai Service believed the shuddering issue was actually due to the dual clutches being worn! ?? Go figure!! For replacement of these dual clutches, Jackson quoted the total repair cost to be $4114.00 inclusive of parts, labour and GST. At this stage I said NO, NO. I’ll be taking my Hyundai to an independent clutch specialist & also to my local Service Centre. You can imagine my surprise (or not) when both reported there were NO Issues of concern with my Clutches. Without much effort, my local Service Centre was able to identify the root cause of the Shudder issue to be with the Drive Shafts, both replaced at a total cost of $1570.00 by my local mechanic (a saving of $2,544!). Attempted to contact Jackson, Service Manager at Hyundai to discuss, but he completely ignored my email and calls. Whilst Hyundai Australia did the honourably thing by agreeing to replace my Engine, clearly Chatswood Hyundai Service Centre are either completely dodgy, certainly inexperienced, or are simply trying to rip drivers off who trust their mechanical evaluations. Readers of this review can decide for themselves, but I certainly do not recommend them to be honest, reliable or reputable, given my own personal experience.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A HYUNDAI
Do yourself a favour and do not purchase a Hyundai unless you want your paint work to peel off. There is a major global defective paint manufacturer issue with models as early as 2011 right up to brand new models. Check it out for yourself on the Australian Hyundai Peeling Paint facebook page. I am still trying to get a resolution from dealership where my car came from and all I keep getting is that its not Hyundai's problem, when it clearly is.
Hyundai Refusing to Pay Court-Ordered Debt
In October 2022, my Hyundai Santa Fe became completely undrivable when the electronic park brake failed, locking the wheels so they would not turn. It took three tow trucks to get it to my mechanic, who confirmed it was an electronic park brake failure – something that should never happen – and advised me to contact Hyundai.
After waiting weeks for Hyundai to send a technician, they confirmed the issue and advised that the only solution was a new electronic park brake, at a cost of $2,300 – which they expected me to pay in full, no payment plans offered.
I even asked Hyundai to simply cut the park brake so I could tow the car out and fix it elsewhere, but they refused and kept my car for several weeks, leaving me with no choice but to pay for the repair myself.
I tried to resolve this civilly with Hyundai but they would not cooperate. So, I took the matter to VCAT in November 2022. It was a long process – twice the matter was submitted, and Hyundai had nine weeks each time to respond, yet they never did. Due to VCAT backlogs, my case was not heard until June 2024 – almost two years later – and Hyundai still did not show up. I finally won the case, and VCAT ordered Hyundai to pay me back immediately.
However, over a year later, they still haven’t paid. Hyundai’s legal team now claims the wrong entity was named, even though the company details came directly from the ASIC register when I lodged my case. I have since been forced to go through the NSW Local Court and Sheriff’s Department, who have contacted Hyundai’s legal team but cannot proceed because the entity name is being disputed. Meanwhile, the address previously listed on ASIC has been demolished for the Sydney Metro Tunnel.
To make matters worse, VCAT has now told me that if I want to reopen the order for enforcement reasons, it will cost me a further $400 – adding to the financial strain this process has already caused me.
I have spent more money and countless hours trying to recover what VCAT already ruled I am owed, while a multi-billion-dollar company continues to avoid accountability.
Wrong entity or not, a legal biding court decision has ordered them to pay, they had 3 opportunity to rectify the entity name but conviently claim they never knew about the case. Shame on you Hyundai
Highway assist issue
I recently hired a new Tucson with 8,000 kms on the clock. It had a feature call highway driver assist which was the most frustrating and annoying feature on any vehicle that I have driven in the last 50 years. It was so bad I had to go to the local Hyundai dealer to have it attended to. Even they said it cant be turned off, just reset every time the vehicle is started. Apart from that the vehicle was super quiet at 100kms per hour and rode well.
2018 Hyundai Tucson engine failure
The engine in my 2018 Hyundai Tucson has failed which is a well known fault in these vehicles. I am the second owner however I purchased the vehicle when it was only 2 years old and it has had all of its services completed as per the service schedule and the service book. Bundaberg Hyundai have appealed to Hyundai Australia for outside of warranty assistance and they have denied the claim due to being the second owner. Kia have the same issues with their engines (as it’s the same engine) however they are replacing their customers engine under warranty even when the vehicle is outside of warranty. Hyundai Australia have been so incredibly rude and not willing to help out their customers at all. I have been a loyal Hyundai owner since I was 16 years old and I can’t believe they have wiped their hands of this well known fault in their vehicles. The car is only 7 years old the engine should not fail. Their is currently a class action so I recommend anyone with the same problem to join it.
Buyer beware - Hyundai is a scam
I purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Tucson Night Edition when the car was on a dealer lot, and it’s the worst financial decision I’ve made in my entire adult life. The car has been garbage since the moment I drove it off the lot, and for several years now I’ve been unable to change my insurance because companies refuse to insure this trash because of its association with the car theft issue that’s plagued this company’s cars for years.
I contacted Hyundai recently to complain about the garbage I’m dealing with insurance and requested an extended warranty for the rising cost of insurance due to their negligence — it’s gone up five years in a row, despite my having no tickets or accidents of any kind — but I was told by their rep, Asish, that I can kick rocks because they don’t care. I even sent them the letters from companies saying the reason they’re rejecting my insurance request is the “make and model” of the car!
They sold me a lemon. I’ll NEVER buy from Hyundai again. They have no accountability and they don’t stand behind the trash they made.
Don’t buy a Hyundai - Major Engine Fault. Never buying Hyundai again.
We bought a brand new Hyundai i40 in 2017. We had been pretty happy with it for many years. We have now suddenly had SERIOUS engine issues, and Hyundai are ignoring Australian Consumer Law. Look up Hyundai Class Action!! Also join Facebook group Australian Hyundai and Kia Engine Failures. We’re not the only ones.
The car has only done 75,000KM and has been regularly serviced only at Nunawadding Hyundai.
The engine started making knocking noises in late June.
We’d never been told there may be a potential problem with the engine by the service centre at Nunawadding. Car towed to Hyundai Nunawadding. Diagnosed engine failure and quoted $9000 to put in a second hand engine. Was also quoted upward of $3000 to strip the engine to put in a post warranty claim to Hyundai Australia. After many complaint emails to Nunawadding Hyundai they submitted the claim to Hyundai Australia.
They denied the claim stating it was ‘outside scope of assistance’. We wrote an email to customer care citing our customer rights, and consumer guarantee stating they have supplied a product with a major defect.
They’ve basically said
“Unfortunately, Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) cannot provide any assistance with the repair. We appreciate that we have not been able to assist in achieving the outcome being sought in this instance and can only suggest that should you disagree with the outcome provided to you, you may wish to seek external review through any avenues you deem appropriate.”
We know that the dealer (Nunawadding) and customer care have been instructed to not say anything to customers about this issue, they have terrible customer service and I have never been treated so poorly by a business. Businesses give a true indication of their values and morals by how they deal with problems. Hyundai have shown their true colours and I will never trust them again. Please Please Please DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!!!! If you do, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Ripoff Kona Fob Replacement Price
I have been having bad luck with keys/fobs this year so I had to pay for a replacement Kona fob in February 2025 that cost $247 (plus $175 for coding) and then I lost the same fob in July 2025 as the leather/vinyl band broke. I was quoted $895 for the replacement fob and programming (still $175) so the replacement fob is $720. So from February 2025 to July 2025, the price for the fob has increased almost 3 fold. The fob code is unique to Australia so cheaper overseas replacements will not work. What a ripoff!!
Peeling Paint affecting thousands
Zero stars. Peeling Paint Hyundai – I have a 2013 Hyundai i30 with paint peeling on the bonnet and starting in other areas also. Mine along with thousands of others have the same issue. There is a FB page with thousands of members here in Australia with the same issue. Hyundai refuse to fix the issue. Many other Hyundai customers are facing the same problem. The car cannot be traded or resold due to its condition and drop in value. Hyundai do the right thing and stand buy your product.
Hyundai i30 Mismatched Tyre Nightmare at Hyundai Zupp’s Aspley
Title: Hyundai let me down – unsafe spare tyre caused damage
I bought a Hyundai i30 from Zupps Aspley and was shocked to find the spare tyre was totally mismatched — wrong size, wrong nuts, and not roadworthy. When I had to use it, it damaged my front wheel badly and I had to pay nearly $1,000 to fix it.
This was not a small mistake — it could have been dangerous. I feel completely misled and unsafe, and the dealership didn’t take responsibility. I’ve raised it with Fair Trading and hope others will check carefully before trusting Hyundai or this dealer.
Good car but bad customer service and tech.
Looks like they have bunch of kindergarteners work in their IT teams. Everything they send to me looks very suspicious. Surveys after surveys for what? Call me I'll explain how you can provide best experience for the customer. Let alone the tech, a privacy screen was part of the car that was missing when I brought the brand new car from Berwick Hyundai. I only realize that it comes with the car when I spoke with my friend who bought the same car. Never a Hundai again and never from Berwick Hyundai. Good product but bad service and bad tech.

Santa Fe 7327BRN.
My car electric motor was broken and…
My car electric motor was broken and hyundai dealers autobassadone Vantaa wasted 2 months to fix it because they received the wrong part from hyundai officials and they have to send it back and forth I have paid a high price to fix it because their motor warranty was over they say it was a honest mistake but i lost 2 months salary because of their honest mistake as i couldnt work. Hyundai doesnt even responds to the complaint because they doesnt want to compensate on their honest mistake because i have lost everything
Refused included Roadside Service
Refused to cover included Roadside service as had not yet had the car serviced. Bought in Sep 24'. Hundreds of dollars had to be spent on RACQ. Terrible Company.
Absolutely Unprofessional
Had the most pathetic experience dealing with Werribee Hyundai. Highly unprofessional staff, who would not hesitate to waste your time to make money. After agreeing to a price over the phone, they made me drive over an hour and started negotiating again. Unbelievable attitude and overly priced cars. Please stay away for your own sake.
Hyundai Tuscon 2.0 turbo diesel
Almost had a serious accident due to turbo blowing on a 2 year old hyundai Tuscon.
Hyundai customer service is the worst we have ever experienced.
Our Hyundai Tuscon has been off the road due to faulty manufacturer faults and no support at all from hyundai, no replacement vehicle, no updates, no transparency.
Very dangerous vehicles could break down anytime. Major concern and could cause horrific, life threatining injuries and death if it happens on major roads.
Do not expect what Hyundai promises especially when it comes to customer care.
Im happy to share my experience with all.
