Like other reviewers, item listed with 1-2 days delivery but took a week which was when too late to be used.

Very poor service. Ordered some iron work for an ongoing project due to the company's claim of delivery times between 1 to 2 working days. I am here a week later without the order. The builder has finished and I will now have to book and pay for an additional call out for the piece to be fitted. Despite the company admitting this happened due to an error their side (the incorrect part got sent to them so they had to wait for a replacement) the company refused to even partially refund the delivery fee (which was not an insignificant portion of the cost). I have made numerous purchases from many different companies for my build and this is easily the worst service I have had from any. Steer clear if you want anything in a set amount of time or expect any level of customer service - there are plenty of other retailers to choose from. 2* because I'm being generous as I haven't yet received the piece so can't comment on quality.

I ordered from Ironmongery Direct without actually knowing that I was ordering from them. They are the retail arm of Wyatt Crocker, an architectural ironmongery firm, however they also seem to operate a website called 'Federal Direct', which was how I ended up buying from them.

My order went into 'processing' status the next day, but when it hadn't progressed after a day or so, I emailed to ask if Federal Direct knew when it might ship and got no reply. When nothing had moved, I checked their address and found another company (Ironmongery Experts) trading from the same address.

My first assumption was that Federal Direct were no longer trading, and that I'd effectively thrown money into the void by buying from a zombie website. I emailed Ironmongery Experts to ask if they knew anything about Federal Direct, and to date have received no reply.

On the Friday of the week I'd ordered, I emailed Federal Direct again to ask if they were still trading and whether my order would be fulfilled, and to date have received no reply to either email.

By this point I'd given up on getting anything for my money and was looking at ways I could contact Essex trading standards to get (what I'd assumed was) a defunct set of company websites taken down so that others couldn't make my mistake. I'd checked their social media by this point and seen no posts for several years on Federal Direct or Ironmongery Experts.

Later that day I got an email from an automated address at Wyatt Crocker Ltd saying that my item would be dispatched.

At this moment, the lock is sitting on my desk and is perfectly functional, however, my order on the Federal Direct website still reads as 'Processing'.

This would have been nowhere near as much of a problem if the communication had been better. I don't expect Amazon speeds of shipping from smaller companies, but I make an effort to buy from smaller firms, and do still expect better communication than has happened in this occasion.

It's a shame, as I'm active in the Locksport community and this particular Federal Locks aluminium padlock is very difficult to get in the UK without paying a lot of money to import it from the US or Asia.

I may still use them again, but the standard of communication gives me some reservations. Just to reiterate - the speed of service, especially for a smaller company, is perfectly good, but the confusing array of different faces that Federal Direct/Ironmongery Experts/Wyatt Crocker Ltd wears and the quality of communication leaves something to be desired.

Ive ordered 5 door handles, cheaper than anywhere else and really nice. I made a mistake on the initial order, I had to call and cancel and reorder., refund received. Customer service was excellent, I called a few times, due yo my mistake and the chap I spoke to very friendly and helpful. I would definitely order from here again.

Took over a week to arrive had I realised this company was just a retailer and would have order my item from another source I would have gone elsewhere

Federal 3055L High Security Hasp not so high security!

Ordered these and they came with machine screws with a Philips head — normally security hasps come with coach bolts which prevent unscrewing. These do have a hood to stop attack on the padlock, but it is relatively narrow and the screws are likely easily accessed by slightly tilting the screwdriver. And even if they aren't accessible by a straight screwdriver a right angled rachet with a Philips bit will easily unscrew the bolts!

The fact that Philips screws are used is not shown on the website on in the description. I wouldn't have bought them if this was clear.

I clearly wanted a refund, but I wanted ironmongeryexperts to refund all postage, but Amelia in returns refused, and despite me giving the arguments above she insisted this hasp is very secure!!

I am now out of pocket about £10 in delivery charges, which would have been avoided if they just had a proper description!

Just what I needed

Advert says 24-48 hr delivery. Ordered Monday evening. Had all day Tuesday, all day Wednesday, all day Thursday and item easy finally dispatch 4:30 Thursday. When chasing the order they even argued that it didn’t need to be sent. Should have gone to a more reputable outfit. Not my fault guv was the response. Avoid they buy in from else where you you place the order. There is no chance you will get your item as promised.

Two recent orders which have met and exceeded expectations.
Quality items which were delivered within 24 hours of ordering, i will certainly use again.

The cupboard knobs are lovely, were reasonably priced and the delivery was very quick. Will be ordering again!!

Poor service, if you are in need of items quickly, then go elsewhere.
