I want to know how a relative was unknowingly signed up to this… They take 1 pound at first, most probably to see if the transaction is noticed,,!!
Then 2 weeks later bang… £399.95 is taken from the account….
Plus when I was on the phone, the guy in the call centre admitted that they buy the details from third parties….

I have LPoA for my cousin, 80, who is incapable of managing her own affairs. Have just looked at her bank statement which arrived this morning to find that SM Lifestyles have taken first £1, then £399.99 from her bank account. Phoned SM Lifestyles immediately but they claim she 'signed up to this'. Their financial dept will 'get back to me in 10 days'. My cousin had no recollection of them contacting her. Clearly a scam so will report to Action Fraud. Are the police involved?

This is a scam as others have said. I am joint account holder with my elderly father. He was previously a victim of courier fraud so I keep a close eye but not close enough it seems. I was previously told by his bank that should new direct debits be set up, I would receive an automatic text so I would be able to take appropriate action if it was a fraudulent direct debit. This well known High street bank doesn’t do this apparently any longer and he was scammed for £399, so easily done it appears. Bank informed and he has been reimbursed but angers me that these s*#t’s get away with it. And would have easily been stopped if I had had a “a new direct debit has been set up-if this wasn’t you, please inform us” text or email. Reporting to action fraud.

My sister just rang to ask if I knew anything about SM Lifestyle Perks having taken £399.95 from her bank account 11th Feb & £1 a couple of weeks earlier. I can see from this website that she, too, is a victim of this scam. She's in her 70s & has a broken back. She doesn't have a lifestyle so certainly doesn't need any perks! Her pension doesn't cover this amount. We're contacting the Police & the bank.

This company is 100% fraudulent.
They target vulnerable and elderly people, claiming they are due a refund. They ask for your bank account and sort code. They then set up a direct debit and typically take £1 from the targetted account in the hope it will go unnoticed. Some time later they take a larger amount (£399.95 in our case), again, hoping it will go unnoticed.
If this has happened to you call your bank and you can be refunded under the direct debit indemnity scheme.
I have reported the company to Action Fraud who will initiate an investigation. If you have been a victim I suggest you do the same.
How these people can sleep at night I will never know.

BEWARE BEWARR BEWARE This company is a scam, the difference this time is I have noticed before they have taken any additional money. They start by paying in £4, then £399.95, which they aptly took straight back. Once they have done this I assume they take the same amount again via DD. My mum was scammed out of her account details, she is elderly and disabled and clearly an easy target for these a##holes. Anyway we are reporting it to the bank today, and shall also be contacting the police as this is obtaining financial information via means of deception, and Fraud as they represent themselves as a company who act as a 3rd party who try and claim back high interest on loans and credit cards. This is in breach of the banking code, and data protection laws. As well as making a report to the police, the bank and the FSA. My mother and I will see citizens advice. If any money DOES leave my mums account we shall be taking then to civil court. I challenge SM perks to come up with ONE of their 'clients' (despite never signing up or voluntarily entering into a financial agreement in my mums case) who have actually received 'compensation', or any such payment that hasn't been snatched straight back, solely for the purpose of setting up a direct debit that will allow them to take further funds from their account in the future...not allowed to write it out on this site but my name is emma byron. .my email address is my full name then 80 the 'at' sign then gmail then . Then com , if any other victims would like to send me a written statement about their own experiences with this company. Regardless of the bull***t response they churn out through this review site, or any fake reviews they write themselves, do they have customers prepared to speak about their positive experience in civil court? I guess only time will tell.....

This is a company that seems to be preying on the elderly! I have had the exact same thing happen to my mother. £1 out on 11th Feb, £399.95 out today 24th Feb. I have reported it to the bank straight away. I manage her bills and I know exactly what she has not signed up to anything. She wouldn't know how! The laughable thing about the replies on here is they request the member ID! What ID could there be if the person has not signed up to anything?!!

I am speaking on behalf of my late husbamd/on checking his bank account soon after he passed away (5thJan 2022) we noticed a transaction for £399.95. I know for a fact that he did not use his internet bank or the internet during the whole of December due to illness so in no way could he have set up or been in contact with this so called firm. We are having the bank look into it and hope to get the money back. A warning to all be careful if you browse that you don't accidentally hit a button that inadvertently commits you to a forthcoming transaction which knowingly you never authorised.

absolute scam. They took a £1 then 399.95 told me I had agreed to it. I would never have agreed to this I live on my own don't travel abroad and eat out rarely as I cant afford to. My bank has given me my money back but I also have been told if the company can prove or provide evidence that I agreed they would have to pay the company with my money. How are they getting away with this with so many of us reporting them? Also they took the £1 out before what they said was my 14 days to cancel. They said I agreed on the 28th January and they took money on the 4th feb. So that breaks the rules anyway. Also early January I had a call claiming to be hmrc they had alot of my details including my account details. I reported it to my bank fortunately as this appears to be how they start. So my bank will have a record of my phone call. I was assured they couldn't take money from my account without my passwords but they obviously did. I never recieved a welcome pack or any paperwork to fill in so it really shouldn;t have happened. Very upset that we are not being protected may as well go back to keeping your money under the mattress!!!

I don't know who this company is or what they do, but they somehow acquired my bank account details and claimed £1 in December which then enabled them to set up a direct debit in early January without my knowledge and claim £399.95 from my account. This is a fraudulent activity as I have had no contact with them to my knowledge. I did not knowingly give them any bank details or permit them to set up a DD. Therefore the police have been notified.

Resposta da Lifestyle Perks
Just to say having received the reply. The first thing I did was call, I was told laughably you couldn't deal with me unless I sent you a copy of my power of attorney, do you think I am daft? Second thing I did was email with the details you mention, it's been 24 hours and no response. This is a total scam Beware "Lifestyle perks" Same thing happened to my 93 year old mother £399.99 removed from her account, she has to her knowledge not sign up or agreed anything. Deeply unhelpful man on the phone. I will be informing "watchdog" today and the police cybercrime unit. I have my mother's account number and they refused to do anything unless i emailed the hello@ address. Fraudulent claim will be at the bank in an hour and this will be on social media. These are not threats this has to be stopped from happening in the first place. Regardless of any actions taken to give my mother her money back I will pursue this.

Like others before me, I have had £399.95 taken out of my account, and £1 the month before. I think I know how it was done. A couple of months ago, I had some company call me and ask for my card number. I refused, but when they said it was to pay me, I gave my account number. I wrongly assumed that they could not take money out. Apparently, they are able to set up a direct debit. I have never heard of this company, so it is a scam.

Resposta da Lifestyle Perks
How dare you! I’ve just noticed you have withdrawn £399.95 from my bank account. Who gave you permission to do this. After reading all the reviews I realise you are a bunch of thieves. Get this money repaid to my bank account immediately. 😡😡😡😡😡

my mother is having the same problem. she has noticed money has been taken from my fathers account and she is adamant that she has not signed up to anything with this company. My father is 80 with alzheimers. I have just emailed their customer services to see if this is resolved. I have just spoke to this company and cancelled the subscription. Also found out that they have taken over £300 as their annualfee. Whatever this company states, at no point did my mother agree for this amount of money to be taken from the bank account. i have asked for the amount to be refunded but we will see where that goes. They obviously use words that tie up people with false information. If a refund is not forthcoming it will be sent onto the Bank Fraud Department as this is tantamount to theft by deception. DISCGRAGEFUL

How dare they!!!Lifestyle Perks have set up two direct debits on my bank account without my permission. I do not even know who they are. I have notified my bank who are looking in to it and said to contact the company to tell them not to do it again. I am not sure how as I prefer to phone. I hope they read this review and take action for me.
