I used to use memrise in college. It was great. WAS. When I originally signed up for it - you could browse a whole library of courses - you could easily switch between languages, and choose what you wanted to learn. If you knew certain levels in a course already - you could skip those levels, and work on what you didn´t know. Now- you choose a language, but the website assigns the course to you. There´s no more choosing, no more browsing, no more skipping what you already know. It´s infuriating. I used to recommend memrise to all of my students. (I´m an online teacher.) Now, I´ll be recommending them to mylittleworldland. I stopped using memrise when the changes were made, but though - ¨Maybe I just need to take time to see how it works now.¨ I finally took that time. It sucks.

I cancelled my subscription, yet Memrise still charged my credit card even though my account clearly showed the subscription as cancelled. Chasing a refund is almost impossible—their instructions are a labyrinth of dead ends and deceit. I received no reminder that my subscription was about to renew, just a charge a week before my cancelled subscription was due to expire. I cancelled because I didn't like their method of teaching, but I wish I'd read the reviews first. Avoid it like the Strait of Hormuz, or you may find yourself poorer for the experience.

What Memrise was 10 years ago and what it has become today are completely different, especially when it comes to customer support.
I’ve been using Memrise for years and have created multiple courses for myself and my students to make learning vocabulary more engaging and enjoyable. Last week, however, I discovered that my account had been deactivated without any prior notice or explanation.
I had to create a new account just to contact customer support. It’s now been over a week since my first message, and despite following up, I still haven’t received a response.
For a company that asks users to trust it with years of their work and learning progress, this level of customer support is simply unacceptable. Long-time users deserve better communication and, at the very least, an acknowledgment that their issue is being addressed.

I have to 500% zoom to see a grainy GIF of a sign. What made me come and leave a review is that Module 2 teaches you all these deaf colleges and universities that I will never sign in my life. I don't get why this is important in any way. Ya I'm not happy I paid for this

Also die Übungen halten mich persönlich überhaupt nicht am Ball. Aber am schlimmsten fand ich jetzt, dass ich fast eine Stunde lang versuche mein Abo zu kündigen. Das Wort "cancel" löst automatisierte E-Mail Antworten auf, allerdings sind die Vorgaben zum kündigen nicht korrekt.

ständig Wiederholungen und kein wirklicher Fortschritt. eine schlechte Methode.

I love this app, i have been a member for 3 years, i used to use its community feature a lot for IELTS and healtcare terminology studying. Right now i am using it for German, and still is one of the powertools for me. Spaced repetition in a gamified manner is a great way to learn words.

Jeg har brugt Memrise en del tid nu, og må bare konstatere, at flere ting ikke virker. Når man skriver til dem får man ikke svar, og der sker der intet. Det virker lidt som om, at sitet er gået i stå - lidt ærgerligt, når man har betalt for et livstidsabonnement.

Habe nach kurzer Probezeit das lebenslange stark herabgesetzte ProMemrise gebucht, es wurde mit einer Deadline über den Newsletter angeboten. Habe keine Bestätigung erhalten und auch in der App keine entsprechende Aufwertung gefunden. Kurz nach der Deadline wurde schon wieder das herabgesetzte lebenslange ProMemrise beworben, alle 2 Tage werde ich damit bombardiert. Aber bis heute, 2Wochen nach dem Kauf, habe ich niemanden bei Memrise erreicht, ich erhalte nur automatisierte Antworten, sie stellen sich tot, es wirkt wie ein betrügerisches Unternehmen, alle angebotenen links und email-Adressen laufen ins Leere oder funktionieren nicht. Werde Anzeige erstatten und den Anwalt einschalten!

I think this is great for vocabulary, and free users, regarding about language plans and playing for this, I umderstan why, but one shouldn't be overly reliant on just one app for language learning.

This feels like a better duolingo vocab wise, and having natives sometimes speaking is wonderful.
While other options exist , this one is not bad.

DON'T BUY PRO - NO MATTER HOW BIG THE DISCOUNT. Completely disappointed. This used to be a great app and I did the pro to access verb conjugations and they have made that section an AI - it used to be so easy to review and learn not the AI is rubbish, constantly make mistakes and it is a horrible service and depressing for learning - this is a great example of inapproprate use of AI that makes it worse. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

Customer service non existent

I've been trying to contact customer service for 3 months to get some support/submit a ticket to fix a couple of bugs which are impacting my learning. The wordlists are randomly getting stuck and for any words you submit yourself which are not in the memrise dictionary, the system is forgetting that you have learnt them.

Back in September I brought the lifetime subscription because I previously had a great experience on Memrise using it for Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Arabic, but I am really regretting that decision now.

Customer service is impossible to get hold of. After submitting 4 or 5 support tickets, they didn't reply to any of them but then emailed me asking what I thought of the quality of support I received. What an absolute joke!

The app never works correctly and submitting support tickets is a joke as no one ever responds. Never purchase this app.

They load unauthorised debit orders on my Bank account. I did Not subscribe! They just take money out my bank account.
This is fraud!!!

Ho chiesto il rimborso del periodo di prova gratuito ma è passato un mese e ancora nulla nonostante le segnalazioni che ho inviato. Fate attenzione.

Na eerst een tijdje kosteloos de cursus te hebben geprobeerd een levenslange versie gekocht maar wat blijkt: eenmaal aangekomen op level 15 kun je niet door naar de rest van de cursus. Na hiervan melding te hebben gemaakt na 2-dagen nog steeds geen reactie... en bellen kun je ze niet, echt waardeloos dus.

App and site gets stuck really often for some of the exercises or just completely down in many occasions.

A waste of money, courses are based in learning a long list of vocabulary. Pretty useless if they don't show you how to put them together to build a simple sentence. Same words and same videos and same pronunciation exercises around and around for months now.
With a basic knowledge of a language you can identify many mistakes in the robotchat, its grammar, explanations and translations.

Asked for a partial refund at least, as most days only half of the tools will work. Just automatic responses/templates, still waiting for customer service to reply.

The only positive thing is listening native speakers

Never again. You can learn more with any other free app in the market.

In lesson 21, Memrise keeps getting stuck on a word list that's impossible to navigate. I've tried various ways to contact Memrise, but it's apparently impossible. No response. They are available for payment. Never again.
