Absolutely DISGUSTING company. Very disrespectful…

This company is the most disrespectful company I've ever come into contact with. Talk about an infringement of human rights.

They constantly work on the tracks all night, beeping horns and drilling, which we understand needs doing, but they seem to only hire loud, disrespectful, foul mouthed men to work for them. They stand there shouting, swearing, joking about loudly, slamming doors repeatedly, even whistling and singing at 12 to 4AM. They smoke and we have found cigarette butts in our garden.

I have complained again and again and get absolutely nowhere.

I am a disabled woman with a serious medical condition which could kill me without rest and sleep. But still this keeps happening. Absolutely unacceptable.

Network Rail are incompetent when it…

Network Rail are incompetent when it comes to recruiting Project Managers. Why? Because in their tiny minds they don’t understand that there’s a lot of transferable skills especially if you work in civils, water or utilities. The most sensible thing this organisation ever did was to turn down the opportunity to build HS2......very wise decision

A law unto themselves.....these people…

A law unto themselves.....these people don't answer to anybody, not Council Planning, not the Police and apparently not the Government either as you would think they would have done something about the company before now if they were. As far as the Rail Ombudsman goes, they're utterly useless too as they insist you have to wait 40 days since the last correspondence for Network Rail to reply and even then, if Network Rail do not confirm that the complaint is in a 'deadlock' situation, the ombudsman won't take it further. In December, we received a letter (after I complained we hadn't been informed of previous work) telling us that they would be undertaking 'vegetation removal' works overnight along the line next to our house on some weekends between then (December) and the 27th April. What they meant by this is that they didn't know when they would be coming and that they would be obliterating ALL vegetation including hundreds of mature trees and shrubs for which they need no permissions and that they would be operating chainsaws and industrial woodchippers from 12am-6am on consecutive nights. After begging with them (on the phone and over email) to reconsider the extent of the works and to give us advanced warning so that we could decamp elsewhere they eventually took the cowardly route out and sent their contractors to see us. Somewhat interestingly the contractors seemed equally as perplexed by the extent of the works. They also curiously admitted that they weren't supposed to be doing the stretch outside my house originally because of the presence of badgers but then Network Rail changed their minds and instructed them to clear everything. There has already been a landslip incidentally as the track lies at the bottom of a steep hill and the runoff from the storms this Jan/Feb had nothing to break their torrent since they cut the trees down. The contractor talked about torrents of water coming down the embankment one night when they were working?!? Even in the recent pandemic, the contractors are still out there presumably sharing vehicles to and from site. I called the police 101 line at about 3 in the morning recently and the operator didn't even let me finish which speaks volumes as to the number of calls they receive...as soon as I mentioned the name Network Rail, she shut me down as said there was nothing she could do. Anyway, obviously Network Rail's belligerence and arrogance is a widespread issue and I think it's time, not for individual cases to be fought, but for a more joined-up community approach. I will be collating stories on an ongoing basis and taking this as far as possible. If only there was a negative star rating....

Never work for this company.

Never work for this company.
They use outsourcing for the contracts and they use "Capita Resourcing" see other review.
You will be signed up to IR35 so basically you will earn less than if you were unfortunate enough to be permanently employed by them.
The top people earn hundreds of thousands of pounds a year for doing basically nothing apart from counting their wages which are supplied by the tax payer (ie. you).
If you are not one of the top people then you have many hoops to jump through to stay employed.
Employment is also a one way street you are expected to give your all for nothing in return except a poor wage.
The waste of tax payers money is shocking at every level.
Inefficiency is the order of the day.

Buggy Service

Jan 26th 2020. Although not actually disabled, I have a heart condition and walking any distance quickly is impossible. The distance from the barrier to carriage B on the Preston train from platform 3 London Euston had become difficult to reach in the time allowed pulling a heavy suitcase.
So I reluctantly asked for assistance from the buggy service. My colleague and myself, plus luggage were taken immediately to the train - although it was 30 minutes before the barrier opened - our luggage placed on the train and shown to our seats by a lovely guy called Paul Chadwick. We are amazed at this great service! A big thank you to all concerned.

The horrible truth about Network Rail and the solution after my recent study on them!!!

These horrendous people, incompetent and uncaring, have the audacity to perform loud ''engineering works'' at 2 in the morning in the Charlton area, no prior warning. They are doing absolutely nothing, they have some loud engine that has been making noise for two hours outside our homes. It is unbearable, the worst part about it is that the people who work for Network Rail are clearly imbeciles, every time I see them they always appear to be lazy looking, always on their cellphones playing games for some odd reason (I don't know if this is part of Network Rail training, that employees must always be on their cellphones or Ipads playing games when not doing work). The employees also have an air of arrogance when they walk around in public, and I know why, I used to live with one fool who used to work for them. The truth is that they are overpaid by the government, and they often have short days where they do absolutely nothing and still get paid my entire weeks wage for a few hours, unbelievable. This is where all our tax money goes to, to pay people to sit on their backsides looking at phones and pretend they are ''working''. I know what real work looks like, I have spent five years working at factories, plants, supply shops and even a massive butchery. Nine hours without breaks to add.

My solution is this, since Network Rail don't care about our complaints. Government should cut salary pay for workers of Network Rail, beyond this they should also sack 50 percent of workers since they are of no use anyway, particularly juniors since they just spend most of their time on their phones without working at all. They also won't be missed since they lack proper experience anyway. Secondly, regarding noise, every time Network Rail receive more than three calls of complaints in the area of 'improvement works', they will be fined thirty thousand pounds without hesitation and this money must go to fund other sources in the country such as Education and Crime Prevention. What good are so called 'rail improvements' if the English people can barely read anymore due to illiteracy levels (it's probably because they're distracted by the same 'rail improvements' noises and Love Island of course). Lastly, Network Rail must write a report and document at the end of each week for the areas worked stating what exactly they have been working on with evidence and figures to show hour to hour changes. This way we can know if they have been doing work at all and our tax has not been going to paying loafers to walk around in Orange boiler suits who play Pac Man on their phones!!! Another suggestion is to fine rail workers if they show a lack of order/conduct in public, this habit of them standing around looking at their phones and shouting about is nonsense, this is not what we are paying for. If someone complains about this lack of order in public, that employee should face disciplinary measures.

I'm sorry I've had enough, there is no reason why people should face obnoxious noises in the middle of the night and have their sleep ruined by horns and diesel engines because government feel that they need to keep people 'busy'. What good are ''engineering works'' if our trains are rubbish, always delayed and always cancelled? It's nonsense. I do not even want to go into the matter of how much forestry has been killed by these people. I hope this finds Network Rail well and the public as I think there needs to be serious disciplinary action launches against the company as it is getting a bit much. We are living in serious and anxious times and this behavior is only making things worse for many of those in their homes, for those who rely on the trains and those who even work on them. Fix it!!!

Terrible company. Service is horrendous and unreliable.

Terrible company. Trains are always being cancelled. Network rail is a laughing stock. Overpaid company and the public suffer from the delays and continuous cancellations of the trains. Poor management in the network rail organisation. I'm embarrassed to be from England. The transportation is shocking, overcrowded, unreliable and a overpriced public service.

Very Bad company. Their contractors cut down a 200 year old oak tree on my Farm. They did not bother to find out who the landowner was.
Destroyed a beautiful oak tree. I am still fighting them to replace it, The first one they planted ( tiny ) has died.
Terrible company...funded by our taxes!!!

Network Rail think they do not have to answer to anyone.....

Absoloutely disgraceful the way we.ve been treated by Network Rail. We own land adjacent to the railway line in Neath, South Wales. The land has been in the family for generations with supporting documentation to prove this.

Recently Network Rail contractors broke into the land and cut back the overgrowth to install new fencing adjacent to the mineral line despite having a riparian right of access from the opposite side of the track. When challenged they said they had been given permission by the landowner to go into the land (we're the landowners and we never gave any permission). They then said, get this, that they handed the keys to the lock to the landowner....whaaaat!!!. They then asked us to prove we own the land by sending them the documents....they.re over 100 years old. Seemingly this 'random' landowner was never asked by them to provide proof of ownership.

They have now admitted that they have contacted the person in question who admitted that they lied to Network Rail and that they don.t own the land. Network Rail are obtaining the keys to the padlock back off this random stranger (they have clammed up as to the identity of the person). We are seeking our own legal advice against Network Rail and want them to prosecute this person under The Fraud Act 2006 for false misrepresentation. They seem reluctant to do this as it looks as if they.re covering their arses. The young lad in their Cardiff office who is handling the matter is worse than useless and when I tried to push the matter with him he became argumentative and defensive and made me feel as if my concerns amounted to nothing. He was unable to give me the contact details for their legal department, would not pass me onto his senior officer. When prompted as to which Ombudsman we would refer our complaint to it was like getting blood out of a stone. I fall short of naming this individual but believe me I am tempted.

Seemingly Network Rail think that they are above the law and do not have to be accountable to anyone...we.ll see about that.

I am travelling from Edinburgh to…who made this decision

I am travelling from Edinburgh to Glasgow on 27/12/19 as the second part of a journey.
The trains will take 2HRS &33MINS! from Edin.to Glw! due to engineering works.
Totally unacceptable after 2bank holidays.
Can you imagine the chaos at Waverley & this will have a knock on effect on buses. If nothing else there will be a safety issue.
Who is responsible for this idiotic decision?

I am constantly not shocked about them

I am constantly not shocked about what I hear of these muppets. They cause us such National embarrassment. This weekend they stop trains running into London Bridge, Charing Cross and Cannon Street so they can upgrade the rail. This afternoon they impose massive speed restrictions because “the rails might buckle in the heat?!! It’s TEN DEGREES COOLER than the hottest day last week!!!! They should rename themselves Not Work Fail. Utter rubbish. They need to be sorted out QUICKLY

Only rated as 1 as 0 was not possible

Only rated as 1 as 0 was not possible. Year upon year upon year of sheer engineering incompetence. Basic railway engineering errors combined with dubious management conspire together to create a fragile, unreliable and frankly embarrassing railway network. Now more than ever it is essential that the system is mended and maintained properly as we prepare to try to show the rest of Europe and the world that we are to be taken seriously.

I need minus stars button

Network rail are bullies. They do not care about neighbours of the railway nor the environment. They do not follow their own procedures and guidelines. They lie to you constantly if and when you actually manage to speak to a manager. The helpline is actively obstructive. This is a rude disgusting company.
They have just removed a healthy tree 🌳 after giving a days notice. And after assurances that they do not remove healthy trees. I tried to stop them or at least delay so they could tell us why they were doing this. They told me they would get back to me within 20 days. You do the math. Network rail had only posted a letter 1 day before works took place. Even our local mp could not get reasons from them.
I am completely disgusted. They have left my immediate environment an absolute mess where before was an old tree full of birds. What a sad day ...

If you could give zero stars in here I…

If you could give zero stars in here I would!
I had just finished a large latte and boarded the Liverpool lime street 10:33 to London Euston and settled down for the four hour journey.

When the train had pulled away the driver announces that there are no toilets available throughout the train and that they would make a longer stop at Stafford to allow for a toilet break! Is this for real?

I am surrounded by very unhappy and some uncomfortable uncomfortable passengers! We are told that they will stop and you can take a break and they wont leave without you.. I have two suitcases, a laptop and a handbag and am now supposed to get all this off, go to the toilet and jump back on the train, hoping I will last another few hours! I have had three children, the body doesn't work so well after that trauma!

Network rail you have not thought this one through at all!

The worst company I have ever worked for in my life without question, bullying is rife among the management and if you dare to question or tell anyone about it they makeup lies and sack you, ,they don't give a toss about employees and wrap up managers in cotton wool and protect them so they can do no wrong, corrupt management, and and a totally bad firm to work for

Network Rail have ruined our home…

Network Rail have ruined our home environment due to adjusting the level crossing alarm at Thorpe Willoughby level crossing. I have spent a lot of time and energy trying to get a common sense and compassionate resolution but Network Rail York customer service is appalling especially the service from a Ms Sharon Neil. A company that pretend to care in my opinion!
