Disappointing!! After a horrendous Disney princess experience .. I thought I’d give it another chance & booked over night stay with my granddaughter … surprised to find very limited times that children can use pool , checked in early to use the pool , we are now sat waiting till 4 to use pool 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄try harder … one of the only hotels I’ve experienced that do this ..,, after last complaint the hotel booked me form all platforms … !!!!!
Let down by the evening meals
The hotel was faultless except for the evening meals. The rooms were the cleanest I've ever been in and I've been in a lot. All the staff were so helpful and as for the choices of food for breakfast, they were fantastic.
But this five day coach holiday we were on, was spoilt by the main course choices. There was three to choose from which were hard to understand what was going to be on your plate. Only one of the four meals came with fresh vegetables and that was a single carrot and about six beans.
I'm sure because we were in a group, the hotel had a budget for the meals we were offered.
One evening, when booking for the following evening, there was nothing on the menu for me or my wife, so the lady in charge offered us fish and chips which we both accepted, but we got told not to tell any of the others in our group.
We weren't the only ones in our group not satisfied with the choice of evening meals. I think the evening meal plays a good part of having a nice break away from home.

stayed with Q hotels numerous times, cant fault them. we just back from Stratford Manor reception were very nice.
gentleman in charge of evening restaurant very very professional.
Barman who served our afternoon tea very nice man, he made sure our dog had lots water as we there when very hot.
all the other staff very nice. lots free parking.
yes cannot fault Q hotels,
I did get an email to give feedback, but it didt look right very very small space to put our experience, whilst filling it suddenly stopped so I deleted it as it may be spam.
‘weekday’ spa voucher that redefines a week day!
I am disappointed by the way Q Hotels Collection has handled my booking enquiry.
I contacted the hotel to book a spa day purchased through Virgin Experience Days. The voucher was described as valid on weekdays, so I sought to book a Friday for a special occasion. I was then informed that the voucher could only be used Monday–Thursday and that Fridays were excluded.
I find this interpretation difficult to understand. Friday is a weekday, not part of the weekend, yet customers are expected to accept that a “weekday” voucher excludes Fridays. If this restriction exists, it should be made exceptionally clear from the outset.
What was most frustrating was being advised to seek a refund from Virgin Experience Days and then book directly with the hotel if I wanted my preferred Friday date. From a customer’s perspective, this feels like being penalised for purchasing through a partner promotion.
Whilst staff were courteous, there appeared to be little willingness to find a practical solution. The experience has left me disappointed and has undermined confidence in both the promotion and the hotel group’s approach to customer service.
I would encourage Q Hotels Collection to review both the clarity of its promotional terms and the way it handles customers affected by them.
I would add that the special occasion is our wedding anniversary which falls on Friday 24 July. We held our wedding reception 24 July 1994 at Oulton Hall Hotel. How customer service has changed for this hotel!
Bed Bugs
I recently stayed at Ashford International Hotel & Spa and unfortunately had a very distressing experience. During my stay, I was bitten multiple times by what I strongly believe were bed bugs. The bites were painful, itchy, and appeared in clusters, which is consistent with bed bug activity.
I reported the issue to the hotel staff immediately, expecting it to be taken seriously. However, I was disappointed by the response. The hotel denied that there was any problem and did not appear to carry out a proper investigation or offer a meaningful resolution. This lack of accountability and concern for guest wellbeing was extremely frustrating.
Cleanliness and guest safety should be a top priority for any hotel, especially one that markets itself as a spa and relaxation destination. Instead, I left feeling uncomfortable, unheard, and concerned about the hygiene standards.
I would strongly advise future guests to be cautious and thoroughly check their rooms upon arrival. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend staying here.
Absolutely wonderful
Absolutely wonderful. Very clean, staff were friendly and welcoming. The pool was lovely and warm. We had breakfast both days and the range was impressive and all very tasty. The dining room and bar food amazing. I had the crab and crayfish Thermidor and it was delicious. We visited Warwick Castle and Stratford upon Avon and had great days. I can’t recommend highly enough

We stayed at the hotel over the weekend.
For the price, this is fine. The staff were good.
The building was lovely with nice surroundings.
I would stay with them again.
Very poor experience
We stayed at Park Royal recently and were extremely disappointed to discover that children under 16 are blocked from using the swimming pool during key times of the day. This policy was not made clear when we booked, despite the fact that we specifically chose the hotel *because of* the pool access.
Our 12‑year‑old daughter has Type 1 diabetes and relies on swimming as a regular part of managing her blood sugar. She is a strong and confident swimmer – faster than anyone else in our family – and swimming isn’t just recreation for her; it’s essential for her health. Being turned away from the pool at certain times felt both discriminatory and unfair, especially when we had no prior notice about these restrictions. Families with children, particularly those with medical needs, should be told clearly about such limitations before booking. A hotel that brands itself as “family friendly” should offer inclusive facilities or at least provide flexibility for children who genuinely need physical activity for health reasons.
QHotels, please review this policy or make your restrictions far clearer when guests are booking. Situations like ours cause unnecessary stress and disappointment for families who simply want a fair and supportive experience.
Christmas Package
We paid in advance for a Christmas package (24th. and 25th. December 2025). Our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed a Christmas dinner in the restaurant and enjoyable breakfasts on both mornings. The main event on Christmas Day was a complete travesty we were at our table at 12.30 our first course arrived at 1.10 and the main course at 2.30 and dessert at 3.30. The dining room was packed with resident guests and a considerable number of diners from outside. The kitchen was obviously not capable of catering for this number diners hence the interval of an hour between courses. The waiters were apologetic and seemed embarrassed by the situation. Next morning when we checked out the receptionist who had heard about the lunch debacle was very apologetic. We wrote to the operation manager Cameron Ellson on 28th. December as of now we haven`t had the curtesy of a reply. Following our experience we would not recommend this hotel for any major function for a large number of people.
Stratford Manor So-So
Stratford Manor: Overall good because the evening restaurant staff were very friendly and the food excellent. However, desk staff and breakfast staff not so friendly, with 2 exceptions, and one is the lady who checked us in, the other a lovely lady at breakfast who was super friendly. A particular gripe I have is that one day they knew what package we'd booked and the next they didn't. We had a 1pm checkout, confirmed on arrival(booked through secret escapes) and yet our keycard stopped working after 11am and the cleaning staff hadn't been informed of our late checkout.
Poor accommodation, worse food , and hapless service
Arrived at Park Royal Hotel at Stretton on 23rd December for a four night group based holiday.
Left on 25th December , two days early , as the accommodation, food and service was so poor.My room was shabby and had not been adequately prepared. The bath plug mechanism was broken. The room had no toilet brush and no tooth glass.
The food was dreadful , apparently pre-prepared and then over microwaved to reheat. The young untrained staff were hopeless ; I received a trayful of cutlery in my lap on the first evening .
Would advise people from using hotels from this group if they want good accommodation, food, and service.

Crewe Hall
my review of Crewe Hall
Poor customer service.
Would give zero score if I could. Very poor customer service. I should have been attending a Christmas Party with Work on the 6th of December. Unfortunately for me I had an emergency pacemaker fitted on Monday so cannot attend on the 6th of December. While I totally understand that they need a policy of no refunds after a certain date. They have been given notice so the food is not cooked and I think that they should have some flexibility when there has been an emergency situation it’s not like I’m not attending because I have a cold. Poor customer service that has put me off booking any of their services again.
AVOID - appalling customer service
AVOID – Misleading Black Friday sale & appalling customer service
The QHotels Collection (Slaley Hall) advertised their Black Friday deal as running until midnight on 1 December 2025. I added a 2-night stay to my basket at the promotional price of £278 for dinner, bed and breakfast and tried to check out on the evening of 1 December, only to find the discount had mysteriously disappeared.
When I contacted them that same night (still before the advertised deadline), they eventually admitted the offer had been deliberately removed early by their team, yet the website continued to show the countdown saying it was still live. That is textbook false advertising.
Instead of apologising and honouring the price, they offered a half-hearted “goodwill” discount on just one night and claimed they’re allowed to do this. After pointing out this is illegal, they doubled down and refused to help further.
We have now reported them to Trading Standards and will never book with The QHotels Collection again.
Plenty of hotel groups out there that don’t treat customers with contempt, save your money and go elsewhere.
Telephone Team
A girl called Ella who works on the phones to help arrange booking or in my case sort out a massive problem, is an absolute credit to the company. spoke to some many people that wouldn't help, Ella deserves a promotion, only person that that actually did her job and found out the cause of a wrongful booking date that I didn't do. absolute credit to the company

Have just visited slaley hall and what a shambles. Check in was at 3, room not ready until after 4. Waited to be served 30 mins for a glass of wine. Unabe to use the pool as it was at full capacity. This is one of the filthiest hotels I have visited. Staff were good but think the hotel needs a new management team

Everytime over last 10 years i have visited Telford for NBF bed show i stay at same hotel Telford Hotel & Spa, as it offered good accomodation, easy parking and a free to use leisure centre , this year i booked late august 2025 for september 22nd paid £ 179.35 ..same room last year was £120 for last year , just found out selling rooms for same date online for this year on Qhotels website for this year at £120
would not let me cancel or amend my booking , to take advantage of discounted price , so sadly this will be our last visit to Telford Hotel & spa
Avoid
Avoid. Made a booking at Oxford Belfry online. Did not receive a confirmation email so called Q Hotels reservations to check all OK. They said I need to wait 24 hours 'to see if booking appears on their system', but would happily take a booking over the phone, including an extra telephone booking fee on top of the room price. Why would I need 2 rooms? Why don't they know for 14 hours if I have reservation, or not? Think I'll stay elsewhere.
Our fabulous wedding at Oulton Hall Leeds - June 2025
We had the most amazing wedding day at Oulton Hall, Leeds, everything was just so perfect!
The venue is absolutely beautiful, food was excellent and the staff were so professional. We didn’t have to worry about anything on the day as the staff took care of every detail.
Rosie Midgley was brilliant with the planning in the buildup to the wedding. She kept us informed along the way and was extremely helpful.
Antonia Harris looked after us on the day and night and was absolutely amazing. Everything went so smoothly and to plan, it could not have gone any better. Nothing was too much trouble for Antonia and she went above and beyond to ensure our day was special.
All of our guests are still talking about our day today and said it was the best wedding they had ever been to.
Both Rosie and Antonia deserve some recognition, they are a credit to Oulton Hall. I would definitely recommend Oulton Hall as a wedding venue. We will be back there to celebrate our first anniversary.
Spa Day
Had a Spa Day with my daughter.
Enjoyed pool, steam room, sauna. Light lunch in the bar very enjoyable, with excellent service from Ruth.
Treatments extremely enjoyable with Gabriella and Kelly, then to relaxation room for a herbal tea and a quiet hour. Everything was just what we wanted and we had a thoroughly lovely day
This is an awful hotel chain
This is an awful hotel chain. Essentially all managed and run the same way which is minimum cost, low wage staff, centralised kitchen pre-prepared food sent out to hotels and reheated, worn out facilities in need of updating and generally being sold as 4 star resorts which they're not. I imagine there is a 4 star rating available if you know where to look but these hotels aren't 3 star in my opinion
