Shearings were puntual at all times
Shearings were puntual at all times. Luggage was handled with care. Highlights of the holiday to isle of wight was the donkey sanctuary, osbourne house and cowes.

First coach holiday

Scottish Highlands tour…
We went on the Scottish Highlands tour - 5 hotels in 8 days. The organisation was good apart from when we retuned to the Leeds terminus to get on the correct coach for our home destination and everyone suddenly found that the coaches had all moved over to the far side of the car park which nobody had been expecting, we all had been given various different departure times for the same destination and no-one seemed to really know what was happening. Everyone was really tired after a long day travelling so clear instructions would have been appreciated.
The holiday in general was really good. We had an excellent driver and felt very safe. Not sure of his correct name as he was Polish and said everyone calls him Magic. Scenery was spectacular and the driver did his best to allow for us taking photos.
The downside was that out of the 5 hotels only 3 were decent, the other 2 were very poor and unfortunately these were 2 that we spent 2 nights in. Think Shearings should visit the hotels they use and ensure that they are all of a good standard In the Craiglynne our ensuite bathroom basin had the cold tap hanging off so that when you tried to turn it off it just spun round and the water poured all over the floor. The hot water was burning so you had to use some cold. Also it was a wooden sliding door from the bedroom into the bathroom and it kept sticking and was difficult to open quietly in the night. We tried leaving the door open but there was a window high up over the basin which constantly had a light on in it so this shone all night into the bedroom if the bathroom door wasn't shut. It was this hotel that you expected to be lovely as the front gardens were beautiful but as one guest said its a sham - as soon as you get behind reception its a totally different story. In another, the Pentland, a window in the bedroom looked like a tin of paint had been thrown all over it. It was disgusting.
Staff in all hotels were polite and did their best and the food and service in all but the Pentland was quite good and in the Arrochar was excellent.

However, we're very sorry that aspects of the hotel accommodation fell short of expectations. We appreciate how disappointing it must have been to encounter maintenance issues at the Craiglynne, particularly with the bathroom tap, hot water and sliding door, as well as the concerns you raised about the bedroom window at the Pentland. We understand that these issues can significantly affect your comfort and enjoyment, especially when staying for multiple nights.
It's encouraging to hear that the hotel staff were polite and that you enjoyed the food and service at most of the hotels, particularly the Arrochar. Nevertheless, we recognise your concerns about the varying standards of accommodation and your suggestion that the hotels should be reviewed more thoroughly.
We're also sorry for the confusion at the Leeds terminus on your return journey. After a long day of travelling, clear instructions and consistent departure information are essential, and we apologise that this was not your experience.
Your feedback will be shared with the relevant teams for review, particularly regarding hotel standards, maintenance and the arrangements at Leeds. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention.
We're glad that you enjoyed much of your Scottish Highlands holiday, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more consistently positive experience on a future Shearings tour.

Scarborough and Whitby plus excersion…
Scarborough and Whitby plus excersion to Steam Railway across the moors. (Didn't see much of the moors, and no steam train)
To start the journey had three changes of transport. The first was on an old coach, probably used for school runs, because of the filth that was left. Not the luxury coach we were expecting, cramped, toilet was disgusting. Driver made the journey feel a little better. Journey home took twelve hours, half an hour from our drop off, we were taken on a two hour detour to drop others off, in a cramped taxi. We made the most of our time away, but food laid on by the, not very nice hotel, was on par with school meals. When we opened our cases at home. Everything was soaked and gifts and medication were spoiled. We will not be booking again.

We also understand your disappointment that the excursion did not include the steam train experience you were expecting and that you had limited opportunity to enjoy the moors.
