The main thing to be aware of with Snowtrex is to not book anything by accident. It is misleading that you do not have to put any credit card details in to book a holiday, but you will be penalised if you try to cancel a booking. Could be quite a fun way to get your own back on people you don't like. Book them a holiday with snowtrex and laugh as they get hounded by the company.

I digress. The accommodation is basic, usually in nice surroundings but always lacking such basic things as bedside table, wooden spoon for cooking, kettle (this I can just about understand as it is not a European thing). I'm not sure why they don't provide these things. Perhaps people are unable to prevent themselves from stealing bedside tables?

Our accommodation was filthy, the dinner table chairs were falling apart and the fresh baguettes that can be ordered for breakfast were either not bought as reception was too hung over and didn't get to the bakery in time or not bought because reception was closed.

That said, you cannot get a cheaper holiday and if you are happy to slum it slightly and just bring some cooking utensils and cleaning aids with you, it can be a very pleasant stay.

I was happy with the service that was provided by SnowTrex on our skiing holiday this year. It was pleasure to deal with their customer service team when we had a question about the accommodation. Our first time skiing in France, organising it ourselves, we came across Snowtrek and were so impressed with the information on the website regarding the resorts, accomodation and most importantly the value for money. It was great to know that ski passes and equipment and also lessons if required were all booked and paid for before we travelled. The vouchers for all the above arrived by email and were efficiently deslt with at the resort. The accomodation was great, we stayed at La Turra in Valfrejus, couldnt fault it and being directly on the piste was fantastic. We will definitely use tge company again.

They were really great at responding to emails quickly and really found out information that we needed and presented it in a friendly manner- ski-hire, buses, trains, insurance etc. The only thing is that the opening hours are during working times, so I found it hard to get in contact with them when I needed to. In saying that I would recommend them- without hestitation.

The holiday was great value and Snowtrex's team got back to me very quickly when I contacted them with a query. All in all, a great experience

We found Snowtrex on Google. The website is user friendly and offers a whole variety of areas to ski. The booking was easy and everything was 100% in order when we arrived at our accommodation. We were also able to collect the booked equipment and the ski passes without any effort. I would definitely recommend Snowtrex.

Booked a week at Les Hautes De Valmeninier through Snowtrex for Christmas 2013 and had a very good holiday.
Accommodation is basic, perhaps stretching their 4 star rating a little, but it was warm (once we had turned the heaters up - this was the opening week in the resort so the appt would have been unoccupied prior to our week).
The pool is an added bonus and handy if conditions aren't great for skiing.
Valmeinier is a good little resort - although we found there was a lack of confidence building runs for beginners. My wife struggled the first few days with the run down to the lifts which is rated as a green, but given the number of people on that section of piste - I've skied reds that are easier. There is a nice long nursery slope for the absolute beginners, but then the green which comes down from the top of the mountain is quite narrow with steep drops off the side for long parts.
I'd say this resort is ideally suited to people that are doing their 2nd or 3rd holiday.
Eating and drinking out was not cheap as you expect in France, although the Pizza San Marco (just below the accommodation) was reasonably priced for both food and drinks. Also, shop at the Sherpa store (again, just below the hotel) rather than the store across the car park from the accommodation. There is a much wider choice of products all at better prices. They also have fresh tartiflette in a large pan cooking which can be bought to take away - an absolute must when in France.
Watch out for the hidden costs we paid extra for internet access in the room - which to be honest was very poor. We chose not to bother paying for the TV. There is also an optional additional cleaning charge although we cleaned our own room. There are no transfers to the resort - a taxi fare (return) will be in the vicinity of 650 euros, so we hired a car, which with fuel, snow chains, and Peage tolls probably came in around the £300 mark.

I'm sure we will be back soon - if you want a no frills / value holiday then you can't go far wrong.
