what an absolute shower

what an absolute shambles. Purchased a policy for my motorhome as they were the best priced quoted I received a letter requesting documents needed which I sent back on 4/5/24 then I received another very threatening letter on the 11/05/25 saying and I needed to act within SEVEN days from date of letter (07/05/24)or my policy will be cancelled. So I basically have 1 day to return the letter for the second time that’s not going to happen with the speed of the Royal Mail. I think you need to get your act together as reading other reviews this is a regular occurrence. Update spoke with customer service this morning 14/05/24 who have confirmed they received my documents after they sent the second letter out, and as for receiving 3 letters I only received 2 letters 1 week apart. All I can say is very shoddy customer service lesson learned not to be used again

If you can provide some further details (such as your post code and policy number) in an email to info@staveleyhead.co.uk we’ll arrange for somebody to look into this matter for you. In regard to the request for documents these are requested by the insurer and we allow 28 days from the inception of the policy to provide these. We send out 3 letters during the course of the 28 days, the final letter being a 7 day notice of cancellation.

Wish I had read the reviews before…

Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing a policy from this company, what an absolute shambles. Purchased a policy for my Campervan as they were the best priced quote and everything seemed fine. However a couple of weeks later I received quite an abrupt letter requesting documents that they had not recieved and I needed to act within SEVEN days or my policy maybe cancelled. What followed is an email trail that beggers belief. Not only have insurance companies hiked up there price they want us to do there donkey work as well. As another review stated I have never come across a company like this in all my years of driving.

Absolute crooks!!

Absolute crooks!!, beware of any involvement with them. We had our motorhome insured with this company. Our insurance was due for renewal on 23rd of March 24, we let the policy carry on as normal, by which time the normal direct debit had been paid as usual. We received a recorded letter from Staveley head on 10th April, advising us that our policy was going to be cancelled by the 16th ( 7 days from the date of the letter) . We sought other insurance immediately and we thought that was that, the new insurance started on the day the Staveley head ended. We recieved an email today 29/4/24 with a rather unpleasant email of threats from credit control, that if our account wasn't settled within 7 days then it would be passed to Cobra debt recovery. We rang up immediately to ask what this was about. Chloe advised us that we owed a cancellation fee of £88 plus a period of cover fee for £90, we told chloe that within the cancellation letter there was nothing to advise we owed a cancellation fee or any further money, Chloe offered to send us a copy of the cancellation policy which hadn't been received at the point of when we had the cancellation letter, this surely should have been included with the cancellation notice. Chloe tried to her best to explain to us, even to the point of telling us about her own car insurance and if she finds somewhere cheaper then she would expect to pay a cancellation fee and the remainding term of her policy, which wasn't really helpful at this time as we were extremely upset to have not long recieved a debt collectors threat from this company. They have not attempted to contact us whatsoever prior to this. Staveley head cancelled our policy, we had zero choice in the matter. We will now take this up with trading standards and the financial ombudsman as we offered a solution to chloe to waiver the cancellation fee and pay half of the £90 she said we owed, even though we had already paid our normal DIrect debit on 5th April and this was refused! Absolutely scandalous this company is, we will never recommend these to any of our Motorhome friends or family...ever !!

The worst insurance company I have ever encountered

After 53 years of having vehicle insurance I have just encountered the worst company.
We unfortunately insured our motorhome with Staveley head.
I should have known from the start as the details they required were far more than any company I have ever been with. Bank statements, utility bills, etc.
Then charged me an extra £39.50 for an accident claim against a 3rd party (not my fault).
Today we sold our motorhome with 5 months insurance left.
How wrong were we to think we would get some of our premium back.
In face we were told we were lucky not to have paid them.

In regard to the claim, all claims regardless of whether they are fault, non fault or windscreen need to be disclosed at inception. If you have failed to disclose a claim then we need to add this and would charge our adjustment fee of £39.50 to do so, as per our terms of business.

Great service on the phone

Amber was extremely friendly and helpful ensuring all my details were taken correctly and efficiently to make sure I got the best policy suited to my campervan . She also promptly sent me an email confirming the policy and details of requirements which I need to supply in clear language. Excellent service. Thank you

Beware - The cheapest on price comparison sites…

The cheapest on price comparison sites for a reason !
BEWARE.........took out policy only to be told it was limited mileage, when I tried to cancelled I was told it wasn't. This went backwards and forwards several times, in the end I said I'd lost confidence and wanted to cancel. They agreed that the they would waive cancellation and then withdrew it ! Complaints Dept couldn't escalate this as the per had gone home. I have no confidence this company knows what its selling. Systems are poor, Customer Service appalling. I will end up paying almost as much for 3 weeks as I should have done for a whole year. I will be taking this to the Ombudsmen..........but I guess they'll hide behind their T&Cs etc, even when I believe I've been mis sold a policy

Great customer service and fair pricing

Happy so far with the company, had they are clear with what's needed and very helpful customer service to deal with a real person without wait or fuss.
I've had so many insurance companies over the years i can happily say these seem one of the best , especially if you own a motorhome.

Always at the right price

I have been using Steveley Head insurance for many years now, I always look in other places as a comparason, but they always beat quotes I get. I find them very competitive and always find me the insurance that meets my needs at the right price.

Excellent Service

The information provided in the call was concise, straight forward and easy to understand. Leah provide excellent friendly direct information. She is an assett to your Company and I will renew my policy with you again next year based on the positive experience with Leah this year. Thanks ~Richard

Buyer Beware

I would give 0 stars if I could. They came out as the cheapest on Compare the Market, I've written to them too. A low insurance quote was provided but, having paid, I was requested to provide photos of my driving licence, proof of no claims, National Insurance Number, License Summary, proof of address etc... . On the same day as taking out the policy I decided to cancel and stay with my existing provider even though the policy wasn't starting until the 25th April. I still had to pay £25 to cancel - it's shocking - don't go anywhere this company! Wished I'd checked the other reviews before paying.

Thank you for the feedback, I’m sorry to hear you’re dissatisfied. The insurer you were placed with asks for documents within the first 28 days of the policy to complete validation checks. This is detailed on our website. The £25 not taken up fee is also charge for any policies that we have completed the administration work on that get cancelled prior to inception. This fee is detailed in our terms of business. Do not trust on-line price

My advice would be do not trust the price on-line. Week after cover set up they want lots more information which wasn’t initially asked for and want to charge for things they never asked. Cancelled within 14 day cooling off period and now have to wait 6 weeks for refund, yes that’s written into the terms of business but you were quick to take payment within 24 hours why not refund just as quickly, you have the charge for the days of cover provided so why not process the refund.

Amber was brilliant

Amber was brilliant. She searched for and found a really good deal for my campervan. She explained every detail, was patient, polite and cheerful and a real pleasure to deal with. I look forward to speaking to her about car insurance. I have used online insurance, but it was impossible to speak to a human when I needed to.
