Had a new ABI and had water pouring…

Had a new ABI and had water pouring through the electrics and after a 14 month fight we thought the new roof and walls ,new electrics, new floor ext would solve our £40,000 nightmare . We have now replaced the floor that has a large cut through it and hidden by a steel plate and the carpet replaced as the faulty carpet they replaced was faulty too .We had a leak under the sink that was broken by a worker there who fixed it with clear silicon . The replaced roof now gets air trapped under it when windy so we move bedrooms as it's the sounds similar to a donkey farting ! .I now accept that their building skills are a case of upps we have broken something so hide it so it looks ok to be sent out . The workmanship WAS abysmal. I say WAS as me and my husband are repairing the van as we find the fails or hidden faults but doing this constantly for the last 5 years when it was bought new and was a dream retirement for us that quite simply has become a nightmare. Please if you are considering a dream static van from what we have gone through ABI is not where you should be looking .ABI want to help I think ! ..will post what happens next ...Received an EMail to get in touch with the guy who sold us the new van who is no longer selling and retired .The company who sold it on, who could not even fix a door and themselves and its signed off and ok ! . So as expected absolutely nowhere and can not fight them anymore as mentally tired of everything ! .All we can do now is continue to let people know that you are making a massive financial commitment so do your homework and you too can sleep in a bedroom when its windy ! I have offered to pay for replacement parts myself but this morning they contacted me and refused to sell us parts to finish after 5 years work from us the parts to put it right . Yes you read this correctly .I have informed them 3 times that I cant go through the park as hes left but unfortunately they dont read their e mails .Pleased to see the reply as yet again they dont repair they complain how dare we state the truth lol .Its for you the reader to decide if they are quality van suppliers. No further comments will be posted on trust pilot but continued elsewhere

.I know I stated that no more should be stated on here but its 2.30 in the morning and cant sleep for the noise and find it difficult to sleep In a small bedroom with a 4 inch space to one side of the bed as waiting for a knee and then a hip replacement. I was expecting when I send pics of the parts I needed and my husband said we would pay for them all ourselves that ABI would want to sell us the parts and leave us alone .As is usual we have to go to the owner of the site who doesn't own it anymore ? and stated he was doing nothing anyway and a ABI dealership who in 2 years didn't fix the doors, didn't fix anything and sent us a letter saying there was nothing wrong with the van and the water in all the electrics was condensation which i have kept ! I am asking ABI on here at 2.42 am can we please buy the parts from you direct as you say you will but how ?. I did get a blown hose replacement from the place and they took it out of another van. I E Mailed ABI and said can we take one off theres then ? No reply .I stick to the facts that we want the parts, need the parts have asked for the parts even though they should know the parts on the pics sent which are bent as we just want to put it right ourselves as ABI still refuse to sell us the parts direct . The only thing they seem really first class at is to be on the defensive.We have the windows to replace yet but can buy them anywhere and the alarm is sorted too last month ,the door has been sorted by a friend, the leak under the sink done ,the lino replaced anand I could go on and on and on AND ON .Next is the end panel to be sorted if ABI decide to sell us a much needed part but wont so far as we have to go through a firm who did nothing but send a man who did nothing for 14 months except blame us so no thanks ! a piece off a van we pass every day and have to go to an owner who doesn't run the site anymore I think me sat here at now its 2.55 am will continue .Please ABI dont get in touch again with offers of help and then tell me once again that the Van's been signed off and it's ok and do everything to stop us fixing it ourselves unless it's just to sell us the parts we need ONLY otherwise you will cause more stress and I am trying to be calm every time something fails in my ABI and my lovely husband says dont worry I will fix it .ABI are quite correct when they say I havnt been in touch to say there is continued and relentless faults with the van.As getting nothing repaired correctly and the constant badgering over years we thought ,what was in our eyes the point in contacting them at all about anything ? and indeed had I not received an EMail saying please contact us so we can discuss I stupidly did reply ! At 3.00am early morning it appears the wind has dropped so I will try the big bedroom again

Lisa our Warranty & Customer Services Manager has responded to you via email 3 times now in regards to this. We would have preferred not to have to write this reply on Trustpilot and have dealt with this via email as we tried, however we feel we have been left no choice but to communicate our side. Due to the nature of your emails we will not be responding any further as we have done our best to help and guide you via the appropriate channels should you wish to discuss the matter further.
As explained in the previous email, it has been 3 and a half years since we carried out any warranty work on your ABI Ashcroft. After the work had been carried out you had signed to agree you were happy with all of the work done by our Senior Engineer and his team, this was done on the 21/03/2017. Since this date we have not heard anything from you in relation to being unhappy with any workmanship nor have we been made aware of any further issues you were experiencing. Lisa has also made contact with the dealer you purchased the holiday home from who have also confirmed they have not received any further communication from you since the work was carried out either, this is why we are shocked to see you have left a 1 star review. We responded to your first email to ask a couple of questions and guide you via the correct process should you wish to discuss further. Since then, we have received a few further irate emails refusing our advice and asking to buy spare parts. We have explained via email that any chargeable requests would need to go either via the park or dealer, therefore I would like to clarify we have not refused in any way to sell you spare parts, we have only asked you to go through the correct channels.

Have just upgraded to a new Ambleside…

Have just upgraded to a new Ambleside and are been sent crazy by the vent cover in the en suite rattling in the wind all night. Need to replace but should not need to as it must be a design fault.

Brought a ABI Ambleside in February…

Brought a ABI Ambleside in February this year on naze marine holiday park.
The cooker extractor fan worked for two days then stopped went to office to get the fan fixed this didn’t happen as lockdown came which is fair enough.
When we came back in July they replaced it from enough van on site all good.
The fan lasted two days stopped working again.
Contacted park again then again and again they had no joy so I started to email ABI all they said was urgent repair but still did nothing to fix issue.
So today October 19th still waiting this is perfetic after sales from ABI.
Have taken legal action and now waiting to see where that leads.
The next upgrade in two years time will never be a ABI for sure.

Bought a pre owned ABI Polaris 2013 (in Holland).
The dealer couldn't deliver any documentation.
In contact with ABI UK I got the available information.
Wrote several emails. Every email got a prompt and quick answer or the statement they had to search further for an answer.
I am quite satisfied.

ABI Windermere…poor quality

We bought an ABI Windermere which looks lovely. however, the door has dropped on its hinges and cannot close it easily. Having had major surgery for cancer I wanted to recuperate in van but as. it is hard to close door this is now not an option. This is brand new van si shouldnt have this oroblem

Bought an ABI for our first holiday…

Bought an ABI for our first holiday home. Had the unit 13 months and really really wish I had done more research.

The build quality is terrible, materials not fit for purpose, leaks, bad fitting doors, windows stuck closed. Poor design, no sockets, faulty lights. The whole thing is just bodged together with silicone sealant filling all the gaps!

There may be good ones out there but unfortunately I've been put off ever buying an ABI again and I would not reccommend to anyone.

We bought an ABI Ambleside Premier in…

We bought an ABI Ambleside Premier in November 2020. We ordered the double option instead of a twin in the second bedroom.
We have been totally missold as in effect the bed in the second room that contains a king size mattress as made the room as single, as two people cannot access the bed with ease.
we have not lived in the van but had to pay the full amount to cover the alterations.
it was reported to ABI who responded with thats all we do!!
If we want it changing we will have to do it ourselves.
I wish we had read the reviews before we purchased we would have stayed with Willerby, better build quality, much better after sales service.
I would have given no stars but my computer would not let me move on!!

Very Poor Warranty Service And Communication

Bought a new Ambleside Premier June last year. Several minor snags which the park management got sorted quickly. We have had 3 new caravans over the years and we expected a few snags.
Soon as the Autumn weather started we had problems with the outside air vents. These are the 3 vaned covers on the outside of the caravan that are meant to open when the Expelair extractors in the 2 shower rooms and kitchen operate and close when not.
There were 2 vanes missing from the van when we got it. They had blown off in a high wind. The park replaced them from another stock caravan. We were told the vanes were prone to that and very noisy in high winds. We are 200 meters from the East Coast!
Long story short, a vane or vanes either blew off or stuck open almost every time it was very windy. I walked around our pitch and counted 4 other ABI caravans with a vane missing or stuck open close by. We then were asked by other ABI owners if our new caravan extractor vanes were very noisy in the wind. The answer of course is yes they rattle incessantly.
ABI sent an engineer. He turned up in the dark, 1630 ish on a freezing cold day, in shorts, and completely disinterested. He looked at the outside of the extractors from the ground, said they were working, which they do and informed me as ABI don’t make the extractors it wasn’t their issue. I explained that I had closed the vanes stuck open that morning using a broom handle.I explained 4 days previously we had found 2 vanes on the grass by our caravan. When being replaced a small bird was found in the cowling probably sheltering from the freezing wind at that time. The engineer said had the bird gotten tangled in the extractor fan it would have been messy! I pointed out other caravans in the immediate vicinity that had a vanes missing or vanes stuck open. He said he had never heard of this issue and reiterated as ABI never made them it wasn’t their fault. At a loss as to what to do he said he would order 3 new ones and left as he was in a hurry to get to Morrisons to collect his beer! His words!
A few weeks later ABI dropped off a box containing 2 outside vent covers and some flexible cowling that didn’t fit. The accompanying note said ‘ as a gesture of goodwill’. My wife and I are in our 70s and ABI expect us to climb a ladder and change these things!
I have emailed ABI about this matter without any response. I understand they fon’t correspond with owners only with the park retailers ! I have now purchased 3 covered vents to replace the ABI ones. They allow the extractor fan to work but the vanes are not open to the wind. In short they are only moving when the extractor fan is on NOT when the wind blows. Cost? £3:79 each!
Unlike others on this review page we are happy with our caravan and would have given it 5 stars. but for the warranty service which ABI boasts about! This is our 3rd caravan, each one from a different manufacturer so we are seasoned caravaners. How can a company like ABI risk its reputation for the sake of just over £11 to fit air vents that don’t make incessant noise in the wind and blow off or stick open in high winds.
I reiterate we are lucky we are on a great park with great staff who are helpful and caring. The park are getting the new vents fitted for us. So my rating is for the warranty service, a disinterested engineer and a company that expects a 72 year old customer of one of their high end products to balance on a ladder whilst fitting new air vents. Even an ageing military veteran of 30 years!
So, what could have been 5 stars from us is 2 stars. I have little hope that ABI will take notice of this review but who knows?

ABI are one of the worst companies to deal with.

ABI are one of the worst companies to deal with. They do not honour their warranties.
Making excuses and lies. A family right now are in crisis with a two year old child living in a 2 year old caravan that is leaking like a sieve with black and white fluffy mould. ABI have been contacted through the Riverside Caravan Park Banks Lancashire who have been no help whatsoever and directly all to no avail. How can a company be so dishonest and callous. Please take care if you are thinking of dealing with this dealing with this company.or the Riverside.

My daughter nearly chocked to death

We stayed in an ABI caravan when we went on holiday to the new forest, unfortunately my 2 year old daughter nearly died chocking on a mirror screw cap. They are not at all secure! how they are allowing these to stay in their caravans “only for cosmetic reasons” is shocking! We’ve not even received a proper apology.

Very Poor Build Quality

Just purchased a brand new ABI Ambleside and had handover on the 20th September.
Initially it would appear you have purchased a quality product but do not be misled ( like us ) by its looks.
The build quality is poor and the materials used are not all fit for purpose.
Their maintenance engineer that was sent to repair snags has only made things worse with a botched effort.
Bathroom sink tops are absorbing water and swelling up already, kitchen units are doing the same.
Internal door frames are not fitted parallel to the doors, so you have large gaps at the top and doors strike frame at the bottom.
Ensuite wall has been built with a huge bow which has made the door frame to be fitted in wind, their engineer moved the door on the hinges to try and overcome it being in wind but now the door doesn’t touch the brush pile of the frame it is about 12mm forward of the pile.
French doors do not sit true in the outer frame, they were rubbing the bottom of the frame when opening, their engineer tightened the screws securing the frame into the caravan structure causing a huge bow, then adjusted the doors on the hinges, we can now see daylight through the centre mullion and the slave door rubs the head drip of the outer frame.
Other internal door frames had to be raised up so that the doors would open without rubbing tight on the carpet pile, but now there are huge gaps under the door frame jambs to the floor.
One door frame had to be made narrower at the bottom as the door slab didn’t close against the frame, now the skirtings are 15mm short.
The sealing of the glass splash back behind the hob was poor so the engineer resealed this but now we have silicone smears over the glass and wood effect panelling.
Self closing drawers do not close smoothly they are very cheaply made and the runners are very budget.
Most of the wall sockets are bowed as they are of very cheap quality and where they fix them in position the screws have mis-shapened the sockets
Very very disappointed with the quality, previously we owned Swift Bordeaux static caravans, these were built to last and far superior quality materials were used in these lasting for years.
Totally regret buying an ABI. Can’t see it lasting.

This company makes beautiful caravans…

This company makes beautiful caravans and I believe that the workmen building them take pride in there work. But the after sales team at ABI there warranty and customer service department let’s them down badly. And the lady that says your warranty is not worth the paper it is written on is absolutely right. We have been trying to get the external doors sorted on our ABI Beaumont for around 18 months numerous people have been to look at them but no one has sorted them the wind is still getting in. There warranty and customer service manager is now saying they will be no further attempts made to sort them. And not to contact her directly again. Great customer service. A customer service manager that the customer has not to contact. That’s new. I have contacted the consumer rights authority and will also be contacting the National caravan council.

ABI caravan peeling handles terrible service

Bought an ABI caravan in 2014.
I’m 2017 the PVCu door handles and hinges started to peel! The warranty on these is only one year which is disgraceful. The supplier of the handles replaced as a “good Will gesture” however 12 months on they are peeling and bubbling again and ABI now refuse to fix the issue...
Don’t go near them, disgraceful customer service.

Warranty not worth the paper it's written on

We have a 2 year old ABI Clarendon that is leaking from the roof. It is clearly obvious where the leak is coming from due to the water marks on the interior roof boards. ABI from the start of the complaint have not been interested in repairing the fault blaming numerous things which are totally untrue and downright lies. The fault is covered by the warranty. Water is getting in from the roof, running down the interior roof boards and then spreading outwards on the interior wall boards. ABI just keep making up excuses. There head engineer came out to inspect the caravan and he agreed with us, he then made a list of parts needed to repair it and told us it will be fixed under warranty. The very next day we received an email from abi saying our claim has again been refused due to me using a pressure washer, which is complete and utter nonsense and a lie. I have categorically never used a pressure washer on our van, plus the evidence I have proves they are talking rubbish. This company has now blocked me off Facebook and messenger, this is the sort of company we are dealing with. Be warned, if you are foolish enough like me, to buy a ABI caravan, the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. If you have any faults on your van they will find any excuse not to fix it. Disgraceful company!!!!!

Cheap products that are made to look good!
All the veneer is peeling off all around the caravan, and i know this is a common problem as many off my fellow owners are experiencing the same problem.
