My father who is an Air Force Veteran…
My father who is an Air Force Veteran went through the application process for aid with American Veterans Aid last August. By April he got his first check with retro pay.
If it wasn’t for the excellent and compassionate staff, I know he would have never got his benefits.
If you have a Veteran in your family who is suffering with little or no income, do not hesitate to call these incredible individuals.

Very helpful
American veterans aid led me through the application process that was extremely complicated. They helped me fill out the paperwork and file it. It was such a happy day when I received the approval letter from the VA

The staff at American Veterans were amazing! They made sure I had the correct information and walked me through the process. They also called frequently to keep me updated on where I was in the process. Every staff member I talked to was helpful and so pleasant. They made a hard time in my life possible.

I asked questions and got help all along the way until the end when they were telling me I needed to provide something that just didn't exist when my dad was in the military.
They worked much faster than the VA, which I was happy for and we are now getting my. mom funding to help with day care.

Three stars because 2 1/2 isn’t an option
Our claim for my dad was submitted in late September and the benefits were approved and started in February. This was the desired outcome. However, my concern is for the communication. I had some issues in the beginning getting timely responses to my concerns. I was given a new rep and this got a little better. Once the claim was filed, communication all but stopped. I followed up in December with the VA myself. I had an email after that from AVA that the claim was pending and they would contact the VA again in 2 months. I reached back out to the VA in January and was told that our claim should be approved in February. I reached out in February and found out that the claim had been approved and the back pay should be on its way. I never received any communication from AVA about the status of the claim after the December communication.
I reached out requesting a scheduled call in late February. I received a call back the next day when I was at the grocery store. I asked if she could call me after my trip to the store. She said she would call me in an hour. I never got that call. Since then I have sent several emails requesting a call as I had further questions. Not one email has been answered. I still have questions. I never received word that my claim had been accepted from AVA. I did all the f/u work on my own. I gave 3 stars due to the fact that the benefits have begun. I had been promised 5 star service. It’s a shame that I didn’t get that.
Don't wait to apply
The team coached us through all the documentation requirements and application questions. When I learned that the application date was the eventual "starting date" for benefits, they helped get things filed promptly. It would have taken me forever to get though it. Worth every penny of the fee.

They were on top of everything. Never was I kept waiting for a return phone call or email. Best team to work with!
This service worked like a dream
This service worked like a dream. We were assigned personal agents that guided us through the application progress and followed our progress until the end. Communication was extremely timely which helped expedite the process. My Mom received full eligible benefits. Gathering evidence and completing the paperwork took about two to three weeks. The VA review process took about two and a half months, followed by a direct deposit for three months of retroactive benefits. Start this process ASAP so you don't lose benefits.
Failure to file letter of intent for six months
We hired them in August 2023 and they didn’t submit our letter of intent to file for benefits with the VA until December 31,2023. My mom was approved a few months later in 2024 but we only received back pay from December 31, 2023. We lost 6 months of benefits because of this and now we haven’t been able to get a hold of our case manager ever since. She never answers the phone and her mailbox has been full for months. There is nobody else to speak to from the company as their phones are only answered by a recording. We lost over $8500 in benefits that my mom has a right to because of their mistake and now they won’t even answer the phone. I’ve been trying to resolve this for almost a year. Yes we did get approved for benefits so that part of their business gets 1 star.

I would give American Veterans Aid 10 stars if able. Thanks to their expertise, we navigated a sometimes difficult Aid and Assistance application with ease. EVERY employee that helped us with the application was well equipped, a true professional and at our beckoned call. We couldn't have done this in the record time that we did without them.
