Mi hanno rifilato una micra, la più vecchia auto che avevano, già molto scassata, personale un pò maleducato e molto spiccio. Mai più!!!!

Auto gehuurd via Booking met deze maatschappij. Zeer ontevreden! Heel onvriendelijk, zoekt niet mee naar oplossingen.
Wij zijn er aangenomen en nu bleek dat onze hoofdbestuurder niet dezelfde naam had als diegene van wie de kedietkaart is. En dit moest zo zijn of we kregen de auto niet meer. Ondanks dat ik melde dat wij getrouwd waren enz maakt dat geen verschil . Het kon niet. Met Booking gebeld . 30 min in wacht gestaan . Melden die dat ze er niets aan konden doen. Enkel de wagen annuleren en we gingen 90€ verlies maken.
Oké wouden dan een neiuwe wagen reserveren ter plaatsen. Dit ging niet want dit moest 24 uur op voorhand gebeuren. Lang verhaal kort . 90€ kwijt en geen auto. Op 1 uur rijden van ons hotel . Taxi kost 100€ dus was geen optie. Niemand dacht mee na of gaf oplossingen. Zeer onvriendelijk! Zijn we zelf de straat op gegaan en zo nog 4 rent a car winkels gaan bezoeken tot we iemand vonden die ons wou helpen en nog een betaalbare auto voor ons had om te huren 11 dagen.
Deze maatschappij is absoluut geen aantrekkelijke!!!! Blijf hier ver van weg!!!!!!

I should have read these reviews before travelling! This is a dreadful rental service, operating out of a tin box in the airport car park. The car provided was a much lower spec than the car we paid for. The suitcases did not fit in the car. The operator just shrugged. At 2300 at night we just had to suck it up, squash everyone in and drive off. You must pay them 150EUR insurance premium at the moment you pick up the car, or have a 1500EUR pre authorisation slapped on your credit card. Neither was particularly appealing. On dropping off the vehicle a week later we were stung with a clearly routine "car cleaning charge" of 25EUR despite the fact that it was absolutely spotless on return. It appears that this charge is basically added to your bill before you even pick the car up. Needless to say every one of their interactions with us had a tone and attitude of total contempt. Its cheaper than the others but goodness me this was a completely miserable experience, and a very false economy in comparison to some of the reputable brands set up next door.

DO NOT BOOK THIS RENTAL SERVICE!!! They have a complete outdated company policy and will NOT accept credit cards that do not explicitly say “Credit” on the card! Corporate Brands such as AMEX, Visa, and Mastercard DO NOT print the word “credit” on the card anymore!!!! Absolutely ridiculous policy and extremely rude staff! They were yelling at other customers next to us who were having the same problem. Update your policy to the modern world!!! Very bad experience.

Manche Dellen und Schrammen am Auto werden absichtlich nicht alle Notiert und wenn du Sie nicht Beweisen kannst, wenn Du das Auto zurück gibst werden dir die 750€ von der Kreditkarte abgezogen.
Bei mir war es eine kleine Delle über der Fahrertür eines weißen Fiat Panda.
Wer kann soll rechtliche Schritte einleiten, so eine Abzocke hat in Griechenland nichts zu suchen!!

Finger weg von dieser Autovermietung! Wir haben über CHECK24 bei Caldera Cars gebucht (Buchungsnummer: 53596495), die Abwicklung vor Ort am Flughafen Thessaloniki erfolgt jedoch über das Büro von Abbycar. Hier wird systematisch versucht, Urlaubern das Geld aus der Tasche zu ziehen.Uns wurde die Herausgabe des bereits voll bezahlten Mietwagens am Schalter verweigert. Die Begründung war reine Schikane: Eine im Kleingedruckten versteckte Klausel besagt, dass die Kreditkarte für die Kaution noch mindestens 6 Monate gültig sein muss. Meine Karte war zum Zeitpunkt der Anmietung absolut gültig, voll einsatzbereit und deckte den Kautionsbetrag problemlos ab – sie lief lediglich in 4 Monaten ab.Um überhaupt ein Auto zu bekommen und nicht am Flughafen zu stranden, wurden wir massiv unter Druck gesetzt. Wir wurden gezwungen, eine völlig überflüssige "Premium-Versicherung" für zusätzliche 210 Euro abzuschließen, obwohl wir über CHECK24 bereits den Schutz „Ohne Selbstbeteiligung“ hatten. Das ist eine erpresserische Doppelversicherung und eine absolut unfaire, aggressive Geschäftspraxis, bei der die hilflose Lage von Reisenden bei der Ankunft ausgenutzt wird.Wer in Thessaloniki ein Auto sucht, sollte einen großen Bogen um Caldera Cars und das Büro von Abbycar machen!

I can only confirm that this is an unreliable partner.
We had hired a car through Carjet with comprehensive insurance and an additional driver. They couldn’t find that insurance and offered their own insurance, which was three times as expensive and cost more than the car hire itself. It seems to be their business model. Fortunately, we were able to cancel t everything through Carjet and also hire a car from a rental company 350 metres away via Carjet (SKG Ren a Car). There, one car after another was driving away, whilst at Caldera the staff had nothing to do.

Booked and prepaid a car through Ryanair Cars / Booking.com with Caldera as local supplier at Thessaloniki Airport.

The booking included a “Meet & Greet” pickup service, but nobody was waiting at arrivals as indicated in the voucher. I had to call the company myself and was then taken to an external office operated by ABBYCAR rather than Caldera.

At the office, the vehicle was refused after I mentioned that one stop of my trip would be Thassos island. I immediately clarified that I was fully willing not to take the car onto the island by ferry and even offered to sign a written declaration confirming this. Despite this, the vehicle was still refused.

No issue regarding payment card validity was raised at the desk, and no rental agreement or written refusal document was ever provided.

As a consequence, I was forced to urgently arrange another rental vehicle at much higher cost in order to continue my trip.

After lengthy correspondence and intervention by the European Consumer Centres Network (ECC), Booking.com Transport Limited eventually agreed to refund the original prepaid amount only as a “gesture of goodwill”, while continuing to classify the reservation as a “no-show”.

Very disappointing experience overall, especially considering the lack of transparency and the inconsistent explanations provided throughout the complaint process.

This year, april 2025, we had a really bad experience with the company CALDERA, we had prepaid a car in Thessaloniki for 3 weeks, when making the documents at arrival, they refused to give us the car because we were going to Thassos island indeed. no document stipulates this in the reservation. And the bad side is that they refused to refund us anything. They were rude, just stupid people with the aim of scamming you. Have to say that all the customers there did have issues at this office. So anyway, do never trust this CALDERA ...!

Peggior car re tal della mia vita. Non è così vicino all'aeroporto per andarci a piedi con le valigie.
Arroganti, maleducati, quando ritiri l'auto ti dicono che è tutto a posto, quando la consegni e non hai fatto le foto ai danni che ha già l'auto, tentano di addebitarti il danno!! Attenzione anche se non lo dicono l'auto alla consegna deve essere pulita! Altrimenti l'addebito per la pulizia è salato!

Dishonest company – hidden charges and blackmail at the counter

I booked a car through Booking.com with Caldera at Athens Airport (Aug–Sep 2025). Before booking, I carefully checked both Booking.com’s rental conditions and Caldera’s own website terms. There was absolutely no mention of extra charges for ferries or for leaving Athens.

Yet, at the counter, Caldera demanded an extra €70 for taking the car on a ferry and €50 for driving outside Athens. When I refused, they showed me a printed sheet (not published anywhere online) and told me: “If you don’t want to pay these fees, you are free to go to another rental company.”

This was outrageous. We were literally in the middle of nowhere, with no alternative options and a ferry to catch, so I was forced to pay €120 just to get the car I had already booked.

This is nothing but blackmail and a scam. The company hides critical costs until the very last moment, leaving customers cornered and with no choice.

Caldera’s practices are dishonest, misleading, and unacceptable. Avoid them at all costs if you don’t want your trip ruined.

Recently hired a car from here (8th to 15th September 2025).

The car was fine at first but noticed that the clock on the dashboard didn’t match the clock on the radio, the radio displayed the correct time with the dash being between 2.5 to 3hrs behind. The radio was also completely untuned.

After 4 days of driving about we parked the car up and returned to it a short time later and the battery was flat. The clock and radio issues are symptomatic of a car that has previously had a battery issue.

We were provided a replacement vehicle although we had trips booked which would mean that other than getting the car back to the hotel, the only trip would’ve been back to the airport on the way home.

The trip to the hotel from where the exchange took place was less than a mile so nothing issues noticed.

Then came the time to get back to the apartment airport. On starting the car, the tyre pressure monitor was indicating an issue with a tyre. As I’d only done less than a mile, this must’ve been an issue for the driver that delivered the car to me and just topped up the pressure before meeting me.

Within 3 or 4 miles of the journey to the airport, the engine management light came on and the car started running badly, losing power which made driving up the steeper hills difficult, often needing to drop into 1st gear just to get going again with the car chugging and spluttering at normal running speeds. The clutch was also very juddery which I didn’t notice on the initial mile long journey back to the hotel with it being slightly down hill.

Returning the car, I notified the agent of the engine management warning light coming on and she was trying to blame me for putting in low quality fuel! Like I would’ve been able to select a lower grade than what comes out of a pump!

Then I was charged £75 for the initial car breaking down!

This company does not maintain their cars properly and they will charge you when you break down because of their lack of integrity over servicing and repairs.

I would not recommend this company at all.

Also, the company is not on the airport it’s on a main road about half a mile away across a busy road that has no pedestrian crossing section so you have to dodge in and out of traffic whilst carrying your hand luggage and wheeling your suitcases!

It’s also poorly signed and operated out of another car hire company’s office.

Nothing about this company is right.

Be careful ! Bad company. Cancel the reservation few ouars. Rentalcars save my and give me many back, but caldera it s horiblile.

The worst worst renting experiencing we have ever had. I was in tears when we were done with them. We rented from Caldera via carjet. Apparently they are a broker company. We also bought insurance separately before arrival. When we arrived there they told us because we don't have a credit card for the deposit we would have to buy insurance (€175) with them. This meant an excess of €150. Left with no.choice and multiple rude conversations from the manager and staff members we bought the insurance. When the car arrived that it was all banged up and the front right light wasn't working. They said it's fine it doesn't matter. Lol.

At the end of our trip unfortunately as we were driving the tyre popped and we had to change to the spare tyre. When we returned the car they told us we have to pay for a new tyre because it's not on the insurance. Either we pay €119 for new tyre Including labour or lose the deposit. We asked to speak with the manager he was on the phone, he refused to speak to us. I was pregnant and getting really upset so in the end we had to just pay again because it wasnt worth it. Honestly the worst experience ever. The staff are so rude and refused to give us their names. Hugely disappointed. Please don't book with them.

Sono de ladri .Non mi hanno riconosciuto il contratto che avevo con Car Jet perché era in $ e mi hanno mantenuto più del dovuto + mi hanno accreditato intero assicurazione mentre su Car Jet avevo già pagato una parte .. Avoid - Scammers. Booked a car there and paid for additional driver and out of hours fee. On picking up car, suddenly there was a different price for the hire so showed them my voucher with the correct price. They then backed down on that. Then they said I still have to pay for the additional driver. Told them I already had and eventually they again backed down. Then the same again with the out of hours pick up fee. I already had paid this so argued about that and then they backed down. There were other people waiting to get cars as well all having similar issues. When I returned car they started on again about the out of hours fee. Another argument followed where I went through what they had done previously trying to say I hadn’t paid when I picked up car. Eventually they again backed down and said it’s ok it’s been paid it’s our mistake. There was another couple picking up a car when we were dropping off and they were arguing with them over their car hire as well. Anyway, the day after we dropped the car back I check my credit card statement and they have only charged the out of hours fee to my card without my authority after saying it was paid. I’ve never seen anything like it - scamming at its very best!

On ne vient pas vous chercher à l'aéroport, et on vous laisse attendre sans prévenir ; on ne vous raccompagne pas plus a à l'aéroport au retour.

Finger weg !!! Caldera Autovermietung auf Kos betrügt und lügt , dass sich die Balken biegen. Man versuchte uns dreist einen nicht vorhandenen Kratzer anzudichten. Das Personal ist sehr unfreundlich und absolut unprofessionell. Der Spektakel endete erst ohne weitere Konsequenzen für uns, als ich auf meinen beruflichen Hintergrund hinwies und mit rechtlichen Schritten drohte. Es ist eine Schande, dass Check24 bzw Aurum Cars mit so einer Abzocker-Firma zusammen arbeitet.

Das Auto hat über 100.000km und ist wirklich mehr als drüber. Da ständig irgendetwas geblinkt hat ist dieser Vermieter nichts für schwache Nerven. Man hat halt permanent Angst liegen zu bleiben. Nervig das übliche Aufzwingen einer weiteren Versicherung. Die natürlich NICHT nötig ist. Einzig sehr sehr positiv ist der Shuttle Bus Fahrer. Der kann ja nix für den Zustand der Autos. Mega freundlich und schnell.
