Must just be me then. I have used this company 5 or 6 times a year for the last 5 years and so far nothing but great service. Good prices and reliable cars and friendly staff.
Suggestion folks, read the small print before you book with a third party regarding insurance, just book direct with Del Paso on their site and pay the insurance through them instead of looking for cheap option…easy. So far so good - never had an issue and re-booking again with them for November.

No credit card = no car, and you are then forced to pay €18 extra pr. day for insurance - a total rip-off compared to other companies.

I agree, absolute scam, although we had UK car insurance they insisted we pay 250E for there’s or no car.
Awful vehicle without any power, and such a bad passenger seat ended up with pulled muscle in my back.
I wouldn’t touch this company again.

We used a third party, Holiday Autos, to hire a car from Del Paso at Malaga airport. On arrival we were informed by Del Paso that they could not accept our credit card as a hold payment for any damage as there was an initial in the name. In the Holiday Auto small print it states that the credit card cannot have an abbreviation, I suppose this includes initials. This appears to be a specific requirement of Del Paso and I suspect it is to catch out unwary travellers. Our only alternative was to take out the Del Paso car insurance paid on the same credit card they rejected.
In addition when at the Del Paso counter there was another couple with two young children and they were having exactly the same conversation regarding the credit card and like us were left with no alternative but to purchase the insurance package.

Please be aware when using Del Paso at Malaga and booking through a third party, to read the small print and have an English lecturer with you that can explain abbreviations and initials. I have booked through several companies like and including Holiday Autos all over the world and never had this issue before. Lesson learnt!

Also charged extortionate rate for fuel and then insisted that vehicle had to be returned full!!!!! Worst car also with no radio/sat nav despite being given an upgrade. Staff are extremely rude with no customer care skills and a short sighted attitude meaning that many customers will not return. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! You have been warned.

Shocking experience with El Paso car hire. Paid what we were told in full before leaving from home and also took our full Insurance for car hire in Malaga. Got to El Paso and were told that the insurance didn't cover us and there was an additional charge of €126. Total joke and I believe its a scam. DONT USE THIS MOB

Shame - but not using Delpaso again.

Hired a car with them online for 5 days picking up at Malaga airport. Paperwork sorted at the pick up point was ok. We were told to photograph any issues with the car. It was clean, and the wheels unmarked with just grime between the spokes. There were some scratches at the front so I photographed these and returned to the customer desk to show them. They said it was no issue as we have the time stamp on the photos. They didnt need to see them or the car.

Upon return after our holidays (200 miles of mainly motorway driving) I handed the keys over. The counter lady came out to check the car and then announced we were liable for the damaged wheels. I said the wheels were not damaged, they were just dirty between the spokes, and got down and wiped the dirt with my finger. She said 'show me the photographs of the car'. I said I'd not been asked to taken photos of every part of the car, just where there was damage, and I didn't consider a small amount of dirt between the spokes to be damage.
After a further 5 minutes of argument - during which I was not aggressive or abusive - she said that on this occasion she would not charge me, but I 'would not be allowed to from hire from Delpaso again'.
I couldnt believe it!

I immediately wrote a letter of complaint about the whole incident and queried the 'banning', asking for a full response.
I got a swift reply stating that the counterlady was within her rights to ban me. They didn't explain the reasons despite my specifc request.

Actually there are many other car hire companies to chose from offering cars at a similar price, so it's no big deal.
The incident was totally unnecssary and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Takeaways from this - photograph every angle of the car inside and out before you take the car. Ask if 'dirt' is considered damage.

Absolutely ridiculous company. My flight was delayed by two hours and they cancelled my booking. They were very rude and did not accept the fact that it was out of my control. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

Avoid at all cost
Arranged a hire car with this company and did not read previous reviews. The company scams you saying that you need an IDP to take the car. Or you can pay an extra 270 euros to take the car. I turned up at 3.00am with my wife and 2 children and they threatened to take me back to the terminal without a car if I didn't pay. Currently back in the UK seeking legal advice. A horrible company with no scruples. Please avoid, especially if you are from the UK.

Total scam. We had booked though a broker and said they couldn't accept our credit card against the booking as it only had initials on and not the full name. Made us pay an extra €270 to use their insurance. Heard a few British people having problems as they said their driving licence wasn't a European one and they needed to pay an extra €270 euros also! Awful company. I'd be ashamed to work for them. Stay well clear.

Im out of words (!!!) - do NOT rent a car at Delpaso. They will trick you into paying more.

My experience was very uncomfortable.
Two employees yelled at me because I questioned their service and demands.

It all ended when they denied renting me a car. But that was actually okay, because I will never rent a car at Delpaso not then not ever.

Very bad service! They would only give us 1 car instead of the 2 we had reserved beforehand. They were trying to make us pay extra. They were shouting at us and were very rude. Don’t ever go there!!!!

They give you a car and say there is zero damage that they know of, and tell you to take pictures of any damage so you can prove it was in fact damaged. When you return they look for any scratch you can’t prove was existing and then change you exorbitant charges. It’s a SCAM.

DO NOT USE DEL RIP OFF arrived Malaga flight 10 minutes late no one at arrivals as per Discover Cars contract to direct us to courtesy coach. Telephoned rep given garbled misleading directions. Finally found 'courtesy' coach stop one eight seater and 12 people waiting. Went ahead leaving partner and two grandchildren to catch next service. At office told because I was late which was not my fault the booking had disappeared from their system after 60 minutes. Forced to re-book at €427 instead of the €280 originally contracted for through Discovery months previously and, surprise, surprise it was the same car. Disgusting sharp practice will pay more for reputable firm next time.

Do not use this company. I have rented car's regularly in Spain for 20 years and used carjet.com as a booking agent. I had read previous reviews about Delpaso but did my homework and gave them the benefit of doubt.
When I arrived they told me that me UK driving license was unacceptable because we were no longer apart of the EU despite me licence having an EU logo and having checked this out. For the record, no other car hire firm has any issues with UK licences. They stated that they can't hire me a car....unless they change the terms and I pay for extra insurance that I didn't need. So I challenged them on this and disagreed and attempted to call the broker carjet.com. Carjet do not answer phone numbers provided as their support contact! After our disagreement I asked exactly how much they would charge and they stated that because of my attitude they would not hire me a car at any cost. So, to put it bluntly, my licence is not valid to hire a car.... although....if I paid an extortionate car insurance fee...it was!
I had no choice but to walk away with 4 other members, down the duel carriage way pulling out cases until we found another car hire company
These were Click to Rent, UK license no problem and were actually cheaper including full waiver insurance, albeit not required by me but had no option.
I consider myself fairly astute and hate to be ripped off. Delpaso are thugs and will leave you in the lurch. They are childish and can't stand being challenged thinking they have the upper hand.
My advice is stay well clear and a lesson learnt for me.
On the back of that, carjet.com will not help, completely uncontactable and will not refund monies under such circumstances stating, your hire period has commenced.
They are both thieving thugs. After many unsuccessful calls and emails to Carjet, still no response.

All the bad reviews you read about this company are true. Do your homework, read the reviews and use one of the many other professional rental companies who value their customers. I would be ashamed to work for this company.

Don't ever use this compagny. If you are lucky you will only be charged double.

Similar to other reviews we arrived at Malaga and was taken to the off site pick up , which I knew was off site so no problem there. Handed over uk licence to be told sorry we can’t except them even though uk.gov website says you can, but this company won’t except them…. Unless you take out the fully comp insurance which was £233 and it was more than the car hire. Had no choice so took the extra cover, discovered whilst driving on day 2 after a brief rain shower the wipers were awful didn’t clear the windscreen couldn’t see the road and there was no washer fluid. Stay from this lot obviously making money out of Brexit with a rule that doesn’t exist. I will not use again.

Attention, les pratiques de l'agence Del Paso de Málaga sont douteuses voire malhonnêtes. J'ai pris un véhicule en avril pour 2 semaines. Les documents de location remis lors de la prise du véhicule ne signalent AUCUN dommage sur la carrosserie. Mais on vous recommande de prendre des photos et de vérifier la voiture. Je l'ai fait mais pas avec suffisamment de vigilance, n'ayant repéré que 7 chocs ou rayures. Lors de la restitution, la voiture est systématiquement inspectée par l'employé DELPASO qui demande de justifier chacun des impacts qu'il voit (pour mémoire, aucun impact signalé sur le document remis à la prise du véhicule). J'ai pu justifier chacun des impacts avec les photos sauf un, visiblement ancien. Mais l'employé m'a dit que si pas de photo alors responsabilité engagée. Au final 600e de déduits. Alors évitez cette compagnie aux pratiques malhonnêtes. Et soyez très vigilant en prenant le maximum de photos lors de la remise du véhicule.
