Firstly a massive shout out to Laure and the rest off the team.
Two weeks ago, my E-mountain bike was stolen. The thieves managed to cut through one lock but were unable to bypass the Lite X lock, so they resorted to cutting through the post. It was frustrating considering the bike's high value and upgraded parts.
Despite the setback, I want to highlight the exceptional service provided by ETA cycle insurance. They swiftly covered all the losses within just 14 days.
This isn't the first time I've had bikes stolen, but ETA has consistently come through for me. Usually, I receive the payout within 5 working days, but in this instance, the process took longer due to the numerous upgrades on the bike.
Regrettably, the police did not take action, even though the tracker was active and transmitting accurate signals.
I wholeheartedly recommend ETA cycle insurance based on their outstanding service and prompt response in such unfortunate situations.
I've been a customer off ETA for many years and the team are great, I'll never leave them.
This is about rigidity in the Customer Care system, where ETA Services Manager sees the side of ETA only, and does not hear the customer's side as well.
As an ETA policy holder of around 30 years it was shocking to come up against such an approach.
The rigidity issue concerns an enquiry and conversation about European car breakdown cover.
In this conversation a misunderstanding ensued about a one-off payment within that current policy year (to cover 1 European trip) and a change in policy at time of renewal 4 months later including (again) European cover. I had not asked for a policy upgrade beyond renewal and missed this in the new policy papers (4 months later). When I recently pointed all this out the manager kept coming back to "that's how we do it".
This manager was unwilling to consider the misunderstanding and confusion that was clearly noticeable in the conversation/call recording (of the cover enquiry), unwilling for any goodwill from ETA and taking into account my longstanding membership.
Is it Ethical Customer Care when only one side of a two-way conversation is considered?
Is that Customer Care?

Environmentally conscious car breakdown cover that is super value and doesn't cost the earth. Love this company. I have a monthly car assistance policy which means that when I go to Europe I can swap to European cover and immediately swap back to UK only afterwards. They are v helpful by chat and on the phone They care about their customers and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Job done.

Avoid at all costs, the ethical in their name is laughable. They will go to any lengths to reject a claim. I have been a customer for 14 years for various bicycles, for the first time I had to claim as due to impact damage there was a crack in my carbon fibre road bike seat stay, making it completely unsafe to ride. There was an incident which caused damage to the rear mech last time it was ridden. They asked for a mechanic report, a quote for repair or replacement, proof of purchase, all of which was provided, they then asked me to get a quote for the manufacturer on their out of warranty programme and unfortunately it was not covered due to no longer making rim brake frames
They then rejected the claim saying they consider it general wear and tear. When I challenged this, pointing out the report they asked me to get said it was impact damage, and asked them to back up the claim that such damage can occur as wear and tear in carbon fibre, especially after less than 5000 miles. They (I assume accidentally) said they agreed that such damage does not occur as wear and tear but that it was just an example of an excluded cause and that they consider that it may have been caused by the mechanic who discovered it (the shop had the bike all of 10 minutes before they phoned me to say they had found this when giving it a once over before the service)

Have contacted many companies to insure my bike whilst it is at home. I'm storing it in the garden and is attached to an immovable object with 3 gold standard plus locks. As it isn't in a shed, no1 would insure me. ETA have common sense and will insure it. So glad I found them. Haven't claimed yet but not worried about it.

Easy to get insurance on the internet even for an 85 year old like me
Very simple to log in to the website and update my details for a change of vehicle.
Good comprehensive cycle breakdown cover, however it wasn't simple on the homepage how to apply for the cover.
