Dear Caroline,

Thank you for your feedback but we are disappointed to read this review, as it does not accurately reflect either the report provided. As you can clearly see from the report, we have provided you with an odometer reading for the vehicle 151C12474. Reading from Jun 2017 was 42000kms.

As you may appreciate, MyVehicle.ie does not create this data but retrieves and presents it as it is provided to us. Mileage records, in particular, are dependent on the availability of submissions from these sources, and gaps or inconsistencies may occur when data has not been regularly recorded or updated.

Mileage information is one of the most commonly requested data points, and we source this from official entries made at various stages in a vehicle's life cycle. Despite accessing hundreds of millions of records, there are instances where data may be missing, inconsistent, or not regularly updated.
While we regret that you feel the report lacked value, we must respectfully point out that a vehicle history check aims to highlight ALL available data, including any anomalies. The presence of limited data or gaps does not indicate an error in our service, but rather reflects the limitations of the source data itself. This approach is standard across the industry in Ireland, the UK, and internationally.

Nonetheless, we understand that this can be frustrating but again, we must reiterate that we do not make up mileage readings for a vehicle and the lack of a mileage record is certainly not a failing in any way on a report or the data provider. We can only provide what has been digitised for this particular vehicle.

If it has not been digitised and disseminated to third parties and available on databases, we cannot possibly have it and most of our customers and trade clients are aware of this limitation of mileage readings and this is the same for all vehicle data providers all over the world.

I'm sure that you can understand that mileage readings on every vehicle cannot be guaranteed by any company, as full mileage coverage for every single vehicle in the country is virtually impossible. MyVehicle.ie currently have a mileage database of over 10 million mileage readings on over 1.2 million unique Irish vehicle registration numbers and over 100 million UK readings.

The National Car Test (NCT) Service, nor the Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Testing (CVRT) centres do not share their data with any third party company due to what they deem to be “Data Protection” concerns!

With regard to service records, these are normally paper documents or stored digitally with a dealership and are not disclosed to third parties. It's important to recognize that the absence of service history in the report is not due to an oversight but rather reflects the standard scope of information provided by vehicle history check services in Ireland. We recommend consulting the vehicle's physical service book or contacting previous owners or service providers directly for detailed maintenance records.

Hi Donal,

We completely understand your concern regarding the refund and take the security of customer information very seriously. This is precisely why we do not retain sensitive card details on our systems.

We have already taken steps to arrange your €49 refund. As the original card details are not available to us for a manual refund, we contacted you to request either your bank account details or PayPal address so that we could return the funds securely.

We have also attempted to contact you by phone, but unfortunately have received no response.

For clarity, our correspondence is as follows:

Sep 8, 3:42 PM: You contacted us requesting an update on your refund.
Sep 8, 3:48 PM: We responded within 6 minutes, acknowledged the issue and apologised for the delay.
Sep 8, 4:02 PM: We requested your bank or PayPal details so we could issue the €49 refund directly.
Sep 10, 1:39 AM: You requested that the refund be returned to the original card.

Since then: We have attempted to contact you by phone but have received no response.
We appreciate that all consumers have security concerns, but without either the information requested or a response from you, we are unable to complete the manual refund. At this stage, the refund is being held up because we have not received the details or contact required to proceed.

If you contact our support team at info@myvehicle.ie or 01 912 1205 and provide your preferred secure refund method, we can proceed with the €49 refund promptly.

We are keen to resolve this for you, but we do need your cooperation to complete the process.

Thank you for reaching out. Regarding your Irish history check for 221KK797, our system does not show this vehicle as marked written off. We maintain one of Ireland's most comprehensive vehicle databases, which is relied upon by major banks, financial institutions and insurance providers nationwide.

If you received conflicting information from another source, we would welcome the opportunity to investigate. Data can occasionally vary between providers, and if you can share the report from the other service, we will gladly cross-reference it directly with our data sources to verify its accuracy.

As you might appreciate, we do not create or make up the data and we are not its originators. As such, we have no control over the data, or lack thereof, connected with a particular vehicle. In this instance though, we are not sure what you mean when you say that "the only info I got that the tax was run out" as you have not outlined why you have this perception and you have received all the data available that constitutes a history check report?

Thank you for the review, but we'd like to gently correct this: nowhere on our website do we state or imply that an NCT report comes included with a Car History Report.

To clarify your main concern: you were seeking an Irish NCT report similar to the UK's MOT system. While we completely understand the value of detailed MOT-style data, unfortunately, this is a limitation imposed by the NCT/CVRT authorities in Ireland themselves, not by us.

Unlike the UK's DVSA, Irish CVRT/NCT data is not made publicly available. This means no private company, including ours, has access to NCT test results, fail sheets, or detailed readings.

We have made ongoing efforts to lobby for this data to be released into the public domain but as it currently stands, these are private entities who choose not to disclose this information.

Despite this limitation, our reports still provide significant value:

We provide accurate NCT due and completion dates, which are legally accessible.

We cross-reference vehicle histories with multiple proprietary databases, offering insights on write-offs, imports, mileage discrepancies (where records exist), finance checks, and much more.

Stating that our service is bad because it doesn’t offer something no one in Ireland legally can is actually unfair to the work we do in providing the most comprehensive vehicle history reports legally possible in Ireland.

If your expectations were specifically tied to MOT-style data, we are sorry this was not fulfilled but this is beyond our control as you may appreciate.

We’re always happy to clarify what data is available, and we encourage constructive feedback but it’s important to clarify when expectations do not align with what is currently possible under Irish data-sharing regulations.

We are disappointed to read this review, as it does not accurately reflect either the report provided or the assistance subsequently given.

To clarify for readers, the mileage records referred to in this review were not "fabricated", "fake" or created by MyVehicle.ie. The records originated from historic UK vehicle databases associated with a previous registration mark worn by the motorcycle before its importation into Ireland. We are a vehicle information provider that compiles data from multiple official and commercial sources; we do not create, alter or invent vehicle histories.

Following the customer's query, our team immediately investigated the matter and identified that historical records linked to a previous cherished registration had been attached to the vehicle's record by an external source. We then reviewed the data, corrected the report, and issued an updated version to the customer at no additional cost.

It is important to understand that vehicle history reports are based on information supplied by third-party databases, government agencies, insurers, finance companies, mileage providers and other data partners. While these sources are generally highly reliable, occasional anomalies can occur within any large-scale data ecosystem. When such anomalies are identified, we investigate them and, where appropriate, amend the report accordingly—as we did in this case.

The suggestion that this isolated mileage anomaly somehow means finance, theft or other checks are "faked" is entirely unfounded. Those checks are sourced independently from specialist databases and are not generated by MyVehicle.ie.

We appreciate that the customer was disappointed with the initial appearance of the mileage history. However, we reject the allegation that the data was fabricated and note that the issue was investigated, explained and rectified promptly once brought to our attention.
