I don't publish on this site but I do read it and I find it absolutely excellent. Never had any problems whatsoever logging in or with any of my subscriptions and the substack community ie fellow readers are invariably friendly and polite therefore it is hard for me to understand why so may have posted negative reviews. It is one of the few places unscensored science and ideas can be expressed IMO

Scam! Yes - scam!

Just use beehiiv. Substack is nonsense, blocks your account at their own discretion and offers no explanation or reparation. Plus, if you reset your phone and lose 2FA, you have to remember what you ate on 12th June 1984 or else your account is gone forever. No human support, their bot is dumb as hell.

I'm SOO disappointed in this. I wanted to support a conservative site and then I was charged $50 even though it says I have NO paid subscriptions. I don't even know how they got my CC info. Then I try to contact customer service and it's literally impossible. I ended up just canceling but still not any idea why I was charged $50 and not clue how to get it back. SO disappointing.

What a mess of a platform. Trying to be all things and failing to do anything.

This is just a scam. I ordered a podcast and never received it. It is not possible to receive a refund or even talk to a representative. This site is a complete scam.

Honestly, this feels like a massive scam! I sent an email to Support back in December requesting to cancel my subscription; I have a written confirmation of cancellation, yet I keep being charged! And no one in support is responding for me for days!!

I was notified from my bank that a $100 deduction was taken out from Meidas Touch Network through Substack.com. I never authorized this transaction and the bank had no company contact information. I have tried to get it back, but Substack's AI is just a scam and worthless. It know when you have an issue, but always says someone from their support team will get back to me. BS! They never have, and from others I have read here, probably never will. I even tried through Medias Touch Network for a refund as they ultimately make the final decision and refund. Medias Touch Network just ignored me. No word! Such a scam....such a rip off.....such thieves

They are so eager to expand, they have completely forgotten that SERVICE is the priority for any new venture. Screwing your customers by having NO CONTACT and only AI (hahahhaah) "Support" is a guaranteed loser.

I'm an experienced but obscure author, traditionally published, with seven years experience of the "Huffington Post UK" and a little blog on "Goodreads" which is now going to get a little more use.

That's because I tried to sign up for Substack today. I had two recent articles ready to go and an old biography which could easily be updated.

It must also be said that, due to their subject matter, there is a very slight chance that either or both the copyrights I have in my name might one day be worth millions.

I don't make idle claims, and it is only a slight chance, but it is most definitely there.

I'm also autistic, and I was hoping to feel included.

But your site's a slow-motion car-crash. Non user-friendly, confusing, convoluted and essentially total crap. Your brainless bot was even worse and, while I admit my patience with condescending prigs in their twenties who can't see anything but smartphones and apps has gone, I just got even more evidence that whichever acne-ridden morons developed this crock of excrement are simply quite out of touch with the real world and entrenched in the belief that everyone likes fiddling around with junk IT like this all day.

You're more intolerant and entrenched than the generation you're succeeding, your fine words about diversity, equality and inclusion mean nothing, you're overweight and self-absorbed and (particularly in this case) you are producing a product not worth the code it's written with.

Perhaps I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face, but I'll leave you with the fact that I know how to resurrect "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (long story which I'm now not going to tell you) and am the only man alive commercially to publicise the Book of Deer (not going to explain about that either); and that while you may feel so clever and trendy and cool, you've just thoroughly alienated an old white guy who just ain't gonna take no more shit from stupid brats like you.

Just a spam farm. I've had to block several 'newsletters' from this outfit now they've started sending me racist shit.

Will be blocking their entire netblock at the firewall from now on.

Reasonably easy to use and mostly does the job. However, inconsistent notifications, no customer support, and constant offers of ' claim your free article' but no way of redeeming that.

Disillusioned with Substack. I'm constantly offered far-right or Zionist accounts to follow. I'm sure shaddowbanning is in operation too. The whole thing feels orchestrated and Orwellian.

Like many others, I have been trying to contact Substack’s customer support without success. Their AI chatbot is useless so I've no option but to close my account.

Terrible platform, discrimination, and horrible support closed my account after verification and connecting all of my audience

I paused all payments for my newsletter, and disabled all payment notifications. Behind my back, Substack enabled all payments and enabled all notifications, sending reminders to re-subscribe after I had ceased to write newsletters! When I received notification, I logged into my dashboard, only to find my payment section grayed-out with an error message. I was locked out of my own payment dashboard, with no control over my own newsletter! That Substack would do this behind my back and then lock me out of my payments reeks of 100% unethical, unserious, and unprofessional company. Furthermore, my professionalism has been compromised by appearing as if I continue to ask for money even though not providing any product! I demanded they refund subscriptions fees. To add insult to injury, Substack KEPT THEIR 10% FEE! Substack has stolen money from me. Couldn’t delete my newsletter fast enough.

It is really dangerous because people can write whatever they want including spreading hate.

Absolutely frustrating tool to use!
Especially when it comes to cancelling memberships.
You can’t do it thru the app, so have to logging thru browser.
When doing it on my work laptop, I can’t logging with password because the stupid thing is sending me email logging I can’t use !
Who ever created such stupid system needs to go back to education and think on his decisions.
There is more to add to it like the terrible user interface, it’s just not pleasant to use! It doesn’t encourage usage of the platform!

I cannot post, make comments or like on Substack now for about 2 or 3 months on my Chromebook! I can read some posts but not all! My buttons do not work or they have disappeared! So, I started another Substack on my desktop with my other email address! But why can't I do anything on my Chromebook? I tried emailing customer service but that didn't work! (Email address does not work!) No matter what I have tried to do, I'm still having problems with Substack and I have problems with my Chromebook too! Oh, but I do get hundreds of emails from others who post on Substack! I might have to start unsubscribing from these emails! At first I thought Substack blocked me! Then I thought it was my Chromebook! And then I thought it was my Comcast lines on a damaged pole! But the damaged pole is connected to a new pole and I didn't get anywhere with Comcast! They were supposed to come check the lines but my appointment was cancelled! So, I'm ready to leave Substack unless someone can fix this problem! I have also been writing on Medium and I'm having problems with Medium! After I hit publish or hit another button, my words have disappeared! I give up!
