Absolutely TERRIBLE platform & customer service! The platform is not at all intuitive - I'm on several other platforms and had zero issues setting them up. However, I've spent hours on Substack with several different setup issues. Customer service is a chat bot that can't get very far with troubleshooting. When I hit a roadblock with the chat, I was notified that someone would get back to me but "due to the high volume of requests, they can't tell me when." This is not a reliable option for me to reach my audience. No thanks, going to stick with Kit after all.

DISASTER!!
In Substack's official YouTube tutorial video, "Masterclass: Everything Bloggers and Creators Need to Know to Get Started with Substack," the instructor coughs, sniffs, and apologizes throughout. It seems that they don't know the basics of how to create instructional videos that meet customer needs. Customer support doesn't work. I don't recommend it!

gave up on logging in. after putting in correct email and password, I get a captcha challenge which I have to go through three iterations of only to be prompted to enter an email OTP as well. Enter the OTP code which was emailed to me only to get told the code was invalid. I may as well waste more time telling how much substack sucks here as opposed to trying to login again.

It a time to update my card so they could charge me for my Kat Fords subscription and it was done for her subscription only. I only saw her name on the page that I updated my card. Oooh we see he had another subscription in the past. Without his consent we’ll take that money from him also.

UI is awful:

- Can’t manage subscriptions in app. Inbox doesn’t list author names.

- Setting changes do nothing: you can disable “autoplay videos, and videos will still autoplay.

- Riddled with dark patterns: when you use the app for the first time, you are prompted for permission to access your contacts, and the ‘Yes (share)’ button is 30x larger than the ‘No (don’t share)’ and colored orange (no button is in microscope opaque font).

Users are paying to access newsletters distributed solely through this app. It is beyond farcical that Substack is profiting off such an outrageously terrible product.

DOJ/FTC should look at Substack. There’s no way they don’t have exposure under several states’ DTPAs.

Why have a mobile version if you cannot even delete a post using the app. I’m travelling so downloaded the app, turns out useless.

I never signed up for Substack and it's impossible to delete the account I never asked for. The lack of customer service to fix this is ridiculous and the numerous stories of this happening to people makes me feel like they intentionally do it. Stupid way to run an online forum. Signing random people up for accounts is fraudulent and should be illegal.

Canceled my subscription and still had to pay the next month. There is no way to reach customer service, will report.

I've never encountered a more convoluted, intentionally designed to frustrate, infuriate and finally dismiss interaction with a customer than I recently experienced with substack. They offer NO PATH to interaction with human customer service. Instead you're left dangling with a bot that's obviously been designed to run you around in circles until you get so frustrated you give up and go away. I'm done with substack forever because of this egregious disregard for its users.

Two accounts on Substack are enmeshed and intermingled. TWO HOURS of a chat lead me in circles. Got nowhere. When I begged for human help, I was told they’re very busy. Nothing resolved. And the “this is a serious problem and we want to make it right” BS was downright insulting.

Lost a draft I worked on all day, because they auto save didn't work. The publish didn't work. The Ai chatbot was horrific to deal with

I recently paid for 2 subscriptions and the platform won't allow me to access them. The same thing happened several months back with several paid subscriptions.
The support(ha!) desk is good at leading me around in circles but good for nothing else.
Never again.

Why would substack censor me? My account is frozen and I am not permitted to make comments. They just say I breached their conditions but refuse to tell me what exactly caused the breech. Substack claim they are a platform for free speech and open opinion.

I resent leaving a single star, since this is basically just a platform for spammers. Despite not having ever had an account or signed up to anything, I am regularly spammed (mostly with unhinged delusional racist conspiracy theory content) from Substack accounts. The company does nothing even when informed. I would not take anyone seriously who uses this awful platform. It's basically everything that's wrong with the Internet.

It’s a shame that I even have to leave a star at all on this comment because I would prefer to give it a zero instead. I am considering withdrawing from Substack because of all the racist nonsense, and abusive commentary towards me and others. I do not consider this a safe place. I am going to be withdrawing my following and subscriptions from those who have made it plainly obvious they post to make money and for attention seeking which I find repulsive. I post because I sincerely want to get my poetry to the hands of people who need it. I share my personal opinions, especially regarding my mom’s passing as a way of connecting with others and letting them know that there is a clear voice of reason and conscience that exists. I’m not here to try to persuade anybody. But saying that I have a zero tolerance for racist, abusive people and critics who feel self appointed to tell me how to live and write. I would hope the better angels of our nature would incline us to listen and accept each other regardless of differences. I’m just sad. I have to come to this decision and I don’t do so lightly. To all the writers and poets not seeking money or huge following, you have my admiration and support. I’m just not sure if this is the place for me.

Three stars for pioneering a site where dissident writers find voice. Zero customer support. I allowed my subscriptions to lapse and removed my credit card. Find other ways to support writers you follow.

So, SUBSTACK. It is based in San Francisco. The idea is fine but with any idea that takes form it needs to be taken care of – That means caring for the people who use it and pay for subscriptions.
Substack is an online platform that allows writers and content creators to publish newsletters and connect directly with their audience. My interest was in a site set up by Lozzy Philips (a chartometer, like Lenormand, La Vera Sibilla and other decks). The site was one of the sites on the Substack Platform, rented or purchased by Lozzy Philips called The Daily Oracle. But the site did not work AT ALL, so I contacted Lozzy Philips and Substack NOTHING, no response, no help. I appreciate Lozzy Phillips is very busy making lots of money from the sales of her books on Lenorman, but not responding to a customer with a legit need for help is RUDE and clearly BAD BUSINESS - Substack did not respond either and I was being charged for a membership every month that did not work. So, I contacted my credit card and cancelled my subscription. Substack is dreadful and I will be very careful not to use any sites on Subtack. Unfortunately, that means the people wanting or looking for a platform/website for their businesses will suffer as Substack has no interest in assisting those on their platfo

Replied to an appeal from an animal charity.Put my card details in but it went to substack and never had an acknowledgement from the recipient.Did substack get the money intended for elsewhere?

The most frustrating app to use . Home page full of all the rubbish I can get for free from the mainstream media . Have to hunt around for the people I wish to follow , then the paid subscriptions get lost in the mess. It’s easier to log into the website tbh. Don’t bother with this useless app

This website is barely functional. It doesn't even manage to stay signed in when i click on an article.
