The nonrefundable deposit is too high. We like to book in advance, our trip is a year away, lots of things can happen in a year, but if you don't make the trip you lose all of the deposit.

We have not completed our trip yet but are very disappointed in their customer service. We paid in full for our trip in June to Alaska and now Vacation by Rail is offering the trip for $1600 less than what we paid. I contacted customer service and they offered me an $800 refund as a curtesy and not the full amount because it states in terms and conditions their refund policy. I am currently awaiting the $800 refund but now am feeling ripped off by this company. We were excited originally about this trip but now, not so much. Don’t have any more faith in this company, so buyer beware. Maybe wait to book. We booked early because advertising made it seem very important.

I paid for a rail trip in Alaska. Now I have been informed that the seat on the train that I paid for is not available! My husband can sit in the dome part of the train, but I have to sit on the lower level of the train. Not the anniversary trip we planned! And we forfeit over $2000 for non-refundable airline reservations if we cancel. Do not ever use this company.

So far, I am not thrilled with the service and we haven't even taken our trip yet. I felt rushed in the process. I advised that there were only a few flights left and that we needed a confirmation ASAP. It has been 4 working days since you took my entire trip deposit. I still don't even know if I can get a flight for all 3 travelers because I haven't heard back. I could have booked all of these items myself in the past 4 work days. Also, I wanted to buy up rooms and was told don't bother. I understand we are booking a last-minute trip with only 2 months to go, but I feel we have had better service elsehwere. I pray this experience will get better. This is my first with Vacations by Rail

I still have not received confirmation my trip is booked and I have paid my deposit. I heard once and was told the trip I chose was full. So I was offered an alternative date and accepted it but have not heard back. After all the trouble looking and choosing a date, why didn't the website show the trip was full? Still waiting for my confirmation.

The rail vacation selection process was made easy the booking process was relatively seamless and most of all the booking agent was patiently attuned to our our vacation goals.
