Extremely rude staff and grumpy manager. They show lack of respect to customers and refuse items that they previously agreed to take. I have showed them a picture of an item and the manager said “sure, we’ll take it”. When I brought the item to the store the staff said they have never seen the picture and the manager hasn’t approved it. Plain lie. They have the right to refuse it, but absolutely no need to be rude and lie to someone who wants to donate. Appalling services by a bunch of miserable people who should never work with the public.

I was in some mental distress a few months ago, and had had no help from the terrible local NHS mental-health services, so decided to try contacting the Swansea branch of Mind for the first time. I sent them two emails, a few days apart, asking for some help, but didn't even get the courtesy of a reply. I then contacted Mind's headquarters through their website, telling of the problem, and they told me they would forward my email to Swansea Mind, which they did. After having pressure put on them from above, Swansea Mind then deigned to finally contact me, and we arranged for a mutually-convenient time for me to attend their premises for an initial assessment. This was quite difficult for me to get to, as I have severe anxiety, agoraphobia, and autism, plus I don't have a car, so had to walk at least three miles to get there. Anyway, I had quite a nice meeting with two women, and we arranged that I would return in a week to attend a gardening group, and also talked about a walking group. I had been drinking medicinal quantities of alcohol before the meeting, which was the only way I could lower my anxiety enough to attend, and this lowered my inhibitions such that just before the end of the one-hour meeting I casually mentioned that I had spent three months in prison in 2023, framed by bent police and a drug-addled woman for something I hadn't done. The older woman said, "Oh, oh, we're going to have to look into that!", but I left laughing, unconcerned. Next day, a man from Mind phoned me at home, and told me that in light of what I had told them about my conviction, they couldn't give me any help, and then gaslighted me by trying to tell me that this was somehow for my own protection. He then suggested I go to the Swansea Wellbeing Centre, which is a place that does meditation classes, etc., but everything has to be paid for, so totally inappropriate for me as I am on benefits. He told me he would phone me later in the week with some more details, but of course I never heard from this liar again, and one or two emails I sent them went unanswered, of course. Since then, my mental health has declined alarmingly, and yet I have no help or support at all. From looking at other reviews on here, it seems many others have had similar experiences with this appalling, negligent, abusive organisation - Mind.

After being forced to drop out of university in 2023 due to complications from a medical surgery that went wrong, combined with severe mental health issues and being unable to work, I became homeless in the summer of that year. This made seeking stable housing options incredibly difficult during an already traumatic time.

In Wales, The council placed me in temporary guest house accommodation and referred me to Llamau for “support”. My assigned Llamau support worker made everything significantly worse. He ignored my repeated requests to stop actions that were triggering my mental health, forced his presence into a highly stressful supported accommodation assessment despite me clearly saying I was uncomfortable and didn’t want him there, shouted at me from his car outside the guest house in front of other people and CCTV, and repeatedly gave me medical advice about my long-term medication that directly contradicted what my GP and psychiatrist had told me.

He then referred me to a Pobl project for 16-25 year olds without properly explaining what it was. It felt nothing like supportive housing — more like a strict, punitive environment focused on “bad behaviour”. I was kept there for 6 horrible months against my will. When I tried to complain or raise concerns, I was silenced and treated poorly. A Mind charity worker who visited the project also appeared to side with the staff harassment rather than supporting me. I later discovered that this same person had left Mind to work for Pobl.
The so-called “specialist support” I received throughout felt like it came from average people with no real training or expertise in mental health, trauma-informed care, or supporting someone in crisis. Referrals were not transparent, boundaries were repeatedly violated, and my vulnerability was not respected.
After those 6+ months at Pobl, I was moved to another supported accommodation managed by Platform, where I stayed for 12–14 months. This placement also failed to provide any meaningful support or help me progress.
I complained to Llamau in December 2023. While they responded initially, the issues were not properly resolved. I escalated a complaint to the council and then to the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales. The Ombudsman declined a full investigation, largely on time grounds, but noted that the Council had acknowledged some failings as a result of my complaint and had implemented a learning review (including reviewing the officer involved and improving communication processes with accommodation agencies).
Overall, this experience left me more distressed and vulnerable at a time when I desperately needed proper, qualified, trauma-informed support. Services like these need far better training, genuine specialist input (not just generic support workers), proper informed consent on placements, and real respect for boundaries and lived experience. Sharing this in the hope it helps improve things for other young people in similar situations.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE if you're having a difficult time, they will make you worse.

This line has just really exacerbated my acute episode right now. Their website says "This is a safe space for you to talk about your mental health. Our advisors are trained to listen to you"

Unfortunately, the lady did not listen to me when I said "I'm in an acute violent episode of cognitive dissonance (And i explained what Cognitive dissonance is) and that I just needed some brief communication with a human so I can normalise myself and reset this episode. Nothing more, just conversation."

After some quite frustrating repeating myself to the person that clearly wasn't there to listen, and explaining I wasn't looking for referrals just someone to talk to as your website invites, she began to exacerbate my problem and now I'm in a worse state than when I called.

That is extraordinarily dangerous behaviour around people with mental health problems and I'd expect Mind to be more responsible.

Change your website, if your staff aren't there to converse with people going through hard times take it off the website. "I'm not a specialist" she kept saying. "I know, I just want a human, nothing else" I kept saying. I've proven I was listening to her because I just quoted her. Would be nice to be shown the same damn respect!!!

Someone needs to launch an investigation into them.

They are a dangerous disaster of a place! Absolutely clueless things. They disgust me! If you need help avoid these uneducated morons. The scariest part is that they are aware they are usless but double down on the crap they facilitate while ruining peoples lives.

So disappointed. Of no assistance with ‘personal matters’. So what is mental health if it is not a personal matter !! I rang for assistance with helping a suicidal person . I was advised to simply ring 999 or 111 once that person proceeds to take life into their hands and was told ‘we can’t help with personal matters.’ Nor can make someone seek help. Why bother running a ‘mind’ charity then . Sorry but you may as well close down

Zero stars review about Leeds Mind 03001021234 but the call center is in Wales without a standard call centre script. Nicola was "how can I help" that was a question when the line is mean't to be about me talking the staff supporting that clearly the staff don't care at all.

Staff on the do called supportive don't have a standard call centre scripts with staff talking down to myself.

Changelled it told I was abusive. Abusive is swearing. The staff dish it out but expect a person to accept discrimination from these do calked support workers.

Rang for helpline for a relative in crisis. They were absolutely useless. They could not answer basic questions, and simply parroted a script that we were to Ring 999 or 111 as though we are completely stupid and would not have known to do this. Obviously, he does not need a 999 call right now and he does not need a 111 call right now which was why we were ringing mind in the first place. When I explain this patiently, they could not think of anything else to say and were patronising and would not even listen.

My gp of 20 years recently referred me to independent councelling at my surgery. Unfortunately it turned out to be mind and the information leaflet specifically stated they dont provide counselling, so I said what they were offering was not suitable but if they did have counselling available i would be interested, this was recorded as refusing councelling and my GP started shouting at me (he knows about my childhood trauma, my dad has dementia and his current aggression is triggering flasbacks, i was raped 3 years ago, basically every man has abused me in every way possible, he was the only man I felt safe with trusted) the lie this ' councellor ' did has destroyed my only safe link to healthcare. she did offer help to get things in perspective though. Mind were also mentioned in mazars report, they are unethical, just a corporate business, I cannot use cmht either (which he slso shouted to me about) as the nurse emdr therapist that destroyed my therapeutic safeplace when trying to get me to drop complaint about the clinical director of southern health Ray Vieweg, who within months of my complaint voluntarily left the gmc register, she still works at local team! Yet im the one refusing all help offered. Mind have destroyed my only support, completely unethical . They lie to gps about what they actually provide, coloring in is not going to fix being threatened with guns axes crossbows and being locked in a house while its being set on fire

I’ve just bought a jumper from Mind Charity via Vinted. It wasn’t cheap but it was from Asket an expensive Swedish clothing company with good sustainable ethos and quality credentials.
I’ve had an excellent experience. The communication was good. My parcel arrived promptly well packaged and in good condition. The Asket jumper is excellent. All very good. Thank You Mind.

The charity shop Moortown Leeds, went in with 2 bags of quality clothes, as had noticed a sig in window asking for donations of clothes, was told by that they needed to look inside the bags as they do not accept bedding told them what was inside, the woman who was extremely rude insisted she looked in bags, as obviously did not believe me. next time will not leave anything there ,I take items to other charity shops, and not once have been treat like this, next time will noy take anything here.

I tried to volunteer in one of their charity shops. You get an email saying you will receive a response within a week, but to no avail. I tried chasing more than 5 times, by email, phone and in shop, but it was chaotic. Eventually after 3 months I was told they didn't have capacity for more volunteers right now, but there was no system for estimating when they might or storing my details. I tried to follow up and share feedback through their head office, but the response was largely disinterested.

If you've got serious mental health issues they will get rid of you

The new shop opened on Market Street. Thought i would nip in. I simply questioned the pricing of the items in the shop as they were ridiculously priced. The abuse i received from the woman at the checkout was an absolute disgrace. I simply asked how they could charge £12 for a used dress, which was labelled as a Primark, together with another dress from a supermarket brand priced up at £15. The cost of living is literally wiping families out, whilst these charities are profiting from this. The verbal abuse i received from this woman was bang out of line and i will be taking this further. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this shop at all.

They tell you to email them with your problems. And they are supposed have a therapist email you back. What ACTUALLY happens is you get a response email, no doubt an ai agent, with a list. "I see that you mentioned youare anxious" so call this phone number. And despite the fact the link was found on mind, they recommend mind to you again!it difficult having to find the strength to reach out once, let alone doing it again and again.

I have no idea where Mind recruits it's 'Side By Side' forum Moderators from, I previously thought the Gestapo had been disbanded.

Terribly one sided, users are not allowed to challenge tellings off, even if their views and comments are polite and valid because "it's in the guidelines', subjective depending on which one of the 20+ moderators is on shift, lacking empathy and understanding in my personal opinion.

Please avoid the charity shop in York I took my partners jeans back with receipt told me they don't give cash back exchange only , so I asked for a credit note as it wasn't my money the lady said we don't do credit notes , there is no where in the shop saying they don't give cash back and it's exchange only and nobody told us when the jeans were purchased wish is actually against the law , that weekend we went to pocklinton took the jeans with us in case we saw something in their Mind shop ,we find a top for the grandson took it to the till the lady was lovely got on to the topic about exchange only she said who told you that we said the lady in the York store the lady then showed us the notice behind her saying mind shops give you your money back with returns with in 28 days of purchase, she was very angry how we had been treated she said she was going to ring the York store and have a word with them
