Its a trap.
Don't bother they really don't care, they see your vulnerability as a weakness to manipulate you. The staff are all corrupt. They are actors and recovering ex-service users, with no qualifications whatsoever struggling with there own mental health, they need inspecting. Its a trap.
All in the name of charity!
Getting a cash refund from charity shops run by Mind is like expecting to win the National Lottery – theoretically possible, but astronomically unlikely. Unless, that is, you’re either technically well-informed about what you’re looking for and/or bring with you conclusive written proof that you’ve been overcharged. Or if you’re prepared to kick up a fuss inside the shop! And I’m not talking about run-of-the-mill purchases like clothing, but collectables, including: stamps, autographs, porcelain and coins.
When I tried to get a refund for a twentieth-century coin that had been priced at £8, I was confronted by a hawk-eyed woman who was clearly prepared to argue the toss. “We want to get maximum prices for those in need!” she told me. But apparently without being too fussy about how those prices are reached or whether this is compatible with its charity status!! I had the textbooks with me that showed the price was far too high, even though she claimed they had a researcher who looked up valuations for items before they went on sale. If that means looking at prices on ebay, forget it, because ebay is simply a general selling platform, not a dedicated platform for selling collectables at reasonable prices and manned by experts. On ebay, anyone can try to sell something, including honest sellers as well as some dishonest ones who are hoping to achieve absurdly high prices. But there are specialist websites as well as annual publications that can provide more accurate valuations.
Eventually, she gave up, refunding me £8 for something that is currently worth £1.50. So much for their so-called “researcher”!
Trading standards don’t seem as if they want to get involved in disputes of this type, so basically, when buying from charity shops (and especially Mind), you’re playing with a dice loaded heavily against you! Also, their DVDs are on sale at twice the price at other charity shops, and they don't refund if the DVD is faulty! This is a horrible charity shop, and buying here is not advisable.
Awful organisation who actually don't give a monkeys
I consulted for a business who dealt with Mind several years ago and they were totally unprofessional and uncaring. I wouldn't donate to them if my life depended on it, awful organisation.
Get real
Price wise, this is Longton not London, second hand trousers from NEXT £9.75 what an absolute joke, same with bric a brac, overpriced tat ie small wedgwood jasperware dish £7.75.Avoid at all costs, not worthy of the title charity shop, goods donated, price to sell, helps charity, don't be greedy, donated goods cost nothing, any sale is better than non, don't youth think 🤔
Don't give your money to this shower
I was referred to mind by a key worker and was assured they would offer me help. Guess what ? Nothing. No contact, no text, no call. Nothing. Please don't give money to these crooks they offer nothing whatsoever to anyone in need
Awful charity, does not deserve people's support
Take note of the poor reviews here, 94% one star poor, must say something about this awful, unhelpful charity.
Add into that they have done away with virtually every benefit of being a Mind paying member, apart from being able to vote for trustees. What are members paying for now, nothing. There staff are generally unhelpful, uncaring and non sympathetic and give conflicting information. The online Shop poor and they discriminate. Purchased a t shirt it was way to small, I had to pay for another one, yet others who were unhappy with sizing received free replacement, according to product reviews.
Many things are clearly wrong with this charity and until they wake up and actually start helping those with MH issues rather than lining their own pockets, they have lost my support and paying membership of many years.
Until there are signficant changes in the country they carry on
If you get through to someone calling herself Brogan in the Birmingham line hang up as she is very provocative and thick . No empathy it suggests to me that this person is encouraged by mind superiors to behave in her bad way and I can not think of a less apt description as they are not there for the mind but to be build careers for troubling individuals as well as Brogan there are several other gas lighters and unsuitable peoplle who appear to work there .
They will only understand once they see someone like Starmer locked in a paded cell and that there profiteering in one shape or form at the expense of those they claim to help . While doing the opposite for many is not on. I
Would give 0 stars if it was an option
I am disappointed by the disgraceful customer service at Mind Charity Shop in Moortown, Leeds. My husband and I purchased two high cost items and due to the lack of a changing room, we had no choice but to take them home to try on. Despite being our size, the items did not fit so I returned to the shop the same day, only to be informed that they operate on an exchange-only policy—no refunds or credit notes. I searched the shop again, but there was nothing suitable.
We went away shortly after and returned on what happened to be the 30th day since purchase—just two days outside their punitive 28-day exchange policy. This included several Sundays when they were closed, yet they flatly refused to take into account the circumstances of not being able to get to shop because of being away, or their own weekend opening hours. Instead, they coldly insisted on sticking to their rigid policy, showing zero flexibility or compassion.
As a mental health charity, I would expect them to display a degree of empathy and understanding, but instead, they caused me unnecessary stress and upset. Their so-called "policy" is grasping, unworkable, and frankly feels like theft. They now have the items I paid for, and I am left with nothing but frustration and disappointment. The manager and her volunteer were utterly useless and lacked even a basic sense of customer service.
This experience has left a bitter taste, and I will not be supporting this charity again. I strongly advise others to be cautious when shopping here—they clearly value their rigid policies over customer care and basic human decency.
As long as you are bobbing along Mind…
As long as you are bobbing along Mind are ok but when the wheels come off or you have a complaint their true colours are shown.
The managers cover for poor staff and talk down to you, a 35 year old talking down to a 63 year old, rude, disrespectful and arrogant
Another government-funded quango
The help offered was no help at all.

I phoned their legal line
I phoned their legal line, once in the past I had good advice from it. This time they entirely avoided answering my questions at all and clearly supported the need for a CTO despite supposedly knowing nothing about me. Their goal is seemingly to facilitate whatever the mental health department says, and perhaps to make you angry to justify it. Even if the mental health service are force medicating people who have not broken the law who are technically not ill. You will not get proper support to legally challenge the mental health serivice the way you are supposed to or how they advertise from mind. They are supposed to be impartial and simply advise you of the law. They can be very rude and uncaring, even when approached with good nature and seem to often vindictively assume people deserve bad treatment rather than helping.
Wouldn't waste your time…
Wouldn't waste your time or get your hopes up.
Had an initial conversation and assessment with a support worker and they booked in the next phone appointment that I then never received. Was left feeling very deflated and annoyed. So the service is pointless really. Have learnt once again the hard way to only rely on myself.
Have just ring them again to put in a formal complaint to be spoken down to and told "I don't know who you want to make a complaint too" and then fobbed off with an extension number that sent me nowhere.
No wonder mental health is as bad as it is in this country when this is the help people get.
What a joke.
Bad experience talking to mind charity…
Bad experience talking to mind charity on the phone I asked for beventment counselling and no one would help this is bath and North east Somerset. Utterly a shambles whole system wrong.
Im in Wales
Im in Wales. I was referred by my GP. I'm disabled & have a vocal disorder so am unable to speak on the phone. I received messages via text when they asked if a phoncall would be suitable. I said no but if they could make a questionnaire large print for me if be able to do it & return it. I never heard anything again.
For a charity, they are clearly not accessible to disabled patients who've been referred. Very disappointed.
Poor Training?
The Bradford branch of Mind did not reply to an email enquiry. They must have a high workload, but, one suspects not replying may be due to poor training, or just not caring.
Gaslighting
If someone become depressed or suicidal because the DWP is threatening them with poverty, hunger and homelessness - and if, in their despair they phone MIND for help, they will be gaslighted and their distress pathologised - they will be advised to seek talking therapies or medication.
This is gaslighting to separate symptoms from the cause and to conceal the problem (threats of poverty by Government policy). This protects the Government who also funds MIND. Samaritans gaslight and pathologise similarly.
Would give zero
Would give zero. As for zero empathy or care same all the helplines bar beat. These aren’t hear you help you. They are here to make money off others misery. They couldn’t care less about anyone. Had a good experience now bad experience. The world is now a cold place.
