Knowledgeable staff. Darren was very helpful and provded us with more information on our product. Delivered as promised. The delivery boys (Ben & Rory) were very careful and courteous.

Concerned over an existing order, made 7 months ago, that we still have to receive despite paying nearly £2k deposit for. No contact and unable to get through to the company. Pretty concerning, and not the best customer experience nor service.

Do not buy from MacKay.
Having previously bought £10,000 worth of furniture from Richard F MacKay Edinburgh,I happily proceeded to place an order for a new kitchen for the sum of £32,440, paying a £5000 deposit on 22nd October 2025. MacKays failed to order the kitchen with Nobelia in Germany for a further 3 months.
Full payment was made on 22nd March 2026 to suit MacKays timing ( delay)
Today the kitchen remains incomplete, my wife and I having endured 60 days without any basic facilities.
The installation team ( who are competent but have their hands tied by MacKays incompetence)returned to our home yesterday ( 21st May) but were unable to complete the works due to replacement units not being delivered.
The replacement units included 4 wall units, a spice rack, a freezer stack unit, drawer unit,
I have repeatedly sought completion dates from this company and to no avail.
At no time have Richard F Mackay reached out and apologised for their atrocious service, rather there is a sense of self entitlement, absent any customer service.
If you still decide to buy a kitchen from MacKay, then ensure you check their terms and conditions, ensure you have a valid invoice that you can check before you pay anything, as this has also caused significant issues.
Also check your right to cancel an order.
The lack of customer service and common courtesy extends from the Managing Director Mr Rick MacKay down through managerial staff.
What should have been a happy and exciting experience for my wife and I has turned into a stressful and anxious time in our lives.
And we still do not know when it will ever be finished, MacKays have not been in touch.
The 22nd October was 30 weeks ago. I urge anyone considering purchasing a kitchen from Richard F McKay to proceed with the utmost caution.

The showroom were most helpful and my ercol sideboard was ready for delivery quickly. Ben and Steve delivered it in my chosen time slot, working carefully and considerately - including offering to put pads on the bottom of the legs to protect my wooden floors. Great customer service all round.

What a wonderful team Neil and Ben are. They were so efficient and helpful delivering our new settees and taking the old ones away. Well done guys.

Everyone in the showroom was very helpful and although we had to wait slightly longer than we had initially been advised re delivery, it was worth the wait as our new sofa and chair did not disappoint!
Murray and Ben our delivery guys were exceptional! They were very professional not only in delivering our new furniture but also in the uplift of our old sofa and chair (for delivery to BHF, at no cost to us). They were courteous to the degree of removing their shoes at the door before they came in which was greatly appreciated as most delivery people/tradesmen don't even give that a thought.
The price we paid for our sofa was very competitive in comparison to other online suppliers.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Richard F Mackay if like me, you appreciate all-round excellent customer care and service.

They make the process of selecting what you need with the help of their experience staff, Jason is incredibly knowledgeable in all their ranges of beds and helped me select the perfect one.

Exceptional service - to ensure we had the bed in time for the arrival of my sister staying, the delivery team went out of their way to pick up the bed from the manufacturer's in Leeds and drive back to Edinburgh , AMAZING!! - thank you so much.

The delivery drivers were so friendly, very professional and installed the bed with ease and efficiency.

I would definitely purchase from the again.

I have just had a sofa delivered. Getting the sofa in my house proved a very difficult job.

Two teams were involved Neil &Steve & Murray and Ben. They were both very helpful and definitely went the extra mile to get the job done. During what was a much longer job that they had expected they remained helpful and cheerful throughout.

My old sofa was also taken away. This was also done with great care.

7 years ago we purchased a stressless suite, recently we realised that it was faulty and the source of a back problem for my partner.Paul was very helpful on the phone and sent out two sets of experts to examine the sofa. They confirmed it was faulty but couldn’t fix it. The sofa supposedly had a 10 year warranty from Stressless but despite Paul’s efforts they would have nothing to do with it and eventually neither did Mackay. I was left to deal with the problem and had to engage a blacksmith to rectify the fault.My partner is speaking to me again.

Neil and Steve delivered and installed new dining table and chairs also a display cabinet. All waste was tidied and taken away. They were professional polite and friendly. An excellent service!

Neil & Steve of Richard F Mackay arrived on time this morning to deliver a new leather sofa. Both very friendly and took great care in navigating past obstacles to avoid damage. They carefully removed and disposed of the packaging and placed the sofa in my chosen location. I’d have no hesitation in buying from Richard F Mackay again.

Excellent service from start to finish. Kevin was a great help and was very knowledgeable about the stressless sofa I was looking for. I already had a chair and decided to purchase the matching sofa. I showed him a picture of my chair which I had purchased from another retailer and he knew exactly which style, leather and trim it was and made ordering the sofa easy. The delivery was great too, Neil and Steve made it look effortless and couldn't be more friendly and helpful. All in all my experience has been "stressless"

Very pleased with our whole experience. Sofa was ready much earlier than expected and a very high quality product. The delivery was well organised before hand. On delivery day the delivery guys, Neil and Steve, were brilliant, kind and helpful.

the guys did all the right things -Murray and Ben turned up when they said they would, they just got on with the job, they were tidy. when they ran into problems they promptly told me and called their office. yes, the job took longer than expected but in the end the problem was solved without any fuss to me and Ive now got a lovely sideboard to store all my mess in!
