My experience with WPA has been extremely disappointing. I paid several thousand pounds for private health insurance, expecting that it would provide meaningful support when I actually needed medical care. Unfortunately, when the time came, I found the service incredibly bureaucratic and the coverage far more limited than I had understood when taking out the policy.

Their list of registered specialists is particularly poor. Many of the specialists I would actually want to see do not appear to work with WPA, leaving you with a very limited choice if you want your treatment to be covered.

Even more frustrating is the number of administrative requirements and small-print exclusions. When you are worried about your health and trying to arrange medical care, it is very easy to miss one of the many steps or deadlines WPA requires. When that happens, they can simply refuse to cover the treatment. On other occasions, I discovered that something was not covered at all because of an exclusion buried in the policy terms — information that was not at all obvious when I was trying to understand what the insurance actually provided.

The helpdesk was of very little use. Rather than helping you navigate the process, it often felt like they were simply looking for reasons why something could not be covered.

I also found the language on their website frustratingly ambiguous. It gives the impression of comprehensive private healthcare cover, but when you actually need to make a claim, you can end up discovering that the apparent coverage is subject to numerous conditions and exceptions. The result is a very different experience from what you might reasonably expect when paying thousands of pounds for health insurance.

In total, after paying several thousand pounds in premiums, I only managed to have a couple of relatively small and inexpensive examinations covered. The more significant and expensive treatments I needed were ultimately paid for out of my own pocket.

I have now cancelled my WPA plan. Looking back, I feel that the thousands of pounds I paid in premiums were essentially wasted. I would strongly recommend reading the policy terms extremely carefully and checking whether the specific specialists and treatments you are likely to need are actually covered before choosing WPA. My experience was that having health insurance with WPA did not provide the reassurance or practical support I expected when I needed it most.

Ive always found it straight forward to claim online using the app but trying to claim cash benefit was more challenging for me. I called and spoke to Amelia who was amazing. She was kind, she explained everything, answered all of my questions and remained on the phone to talk me through how to claim. I felt fully supported, not rushed and listened to. Thank you so much Amelia for taking the stress out of it you were amazing. Would definitely recomend as they've always been so helpful when ive previously called.Thank you, great job.

Really excellent service from Holly when I called the WPA customer contact number: helpful, professional, knowledgeable and sort out my queries immediately.

Ashleigh was exceptionally helpful in arranging for various appointments and tests to be authorised. Ashleigh came across as a very kind person who was generally concerned about my medical difficulties.

I have been with WPA for several years and have found my Healthcare Partner Gareth Walters to always be on hand for any queries I have had. Thankfully only dentistry claimed for but using the app is a very quick and easy process. I would highly recommend them!

I phoned in for authorisation for treatment and the person who took my call was very polite and helpful. He obtained authorisation quickly, which was a relief.
