We (Clarks) had the pleasure of attending Elm Banks open day to measure the residents feet and let them browse the section of shoes we had. All the staff were extremely helpful and kind. The place was clean and welcoming and all the residents seemed content. Thank you for allowing us to visit. We had a fantastic time.
I worked at Moretan Hill...it is…
I worked at Moretan Hill...it is criminal that this place is still open. I can't get into details because it's overwhelming for me to type out everything. Management and the female night nurse ( who is the Clinical Lead) should be fired. Don't leave your family members in this rotten, uncaring place ....there's no investment in the home, residents sit in urine and not enough carers are hired because of absolute greed by the company/ management.
JUST THINK BEFORE..
This company advertises a level of care that they just simply do not deliver.
They show adverts of generous care when they have known for years many of their care homes do not deliver this standard.
This to me is deception and lies and speaks volumes.
My mother went into Moreton Hill in…
My mother went into Moreton Hill in Glocestershire in aug/Sept 2022 for 2 weeks. In 9 days she had 4 different rooms . Room 1 wasn't ready ,room2 ,water poured onto her bed overnight from a leaking pipe above , room 3 was filthy and needed a complete refurbishment. Room 4 was OK except the windows were tiny and the toilet would not flush. . We took my mum home at that point and they then had the nerve to invoice us for £3200 for 2 weeks. The place is a disgrace and should be investigated. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Barchester Ashford - Probably one of the worst places I have…
Probably one of the worst places I have ever worked. I worked in the kitchen. Toxic work environment, dreadful house manager, patronising, condascending and more interested in making herself look good. All problems swept away. Avoid working here at all costs. It just is not worth it. I feel sorry for the few dedicated staff. They do a good job despite the General Managers rudeness and sanctimonius meetings. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
It's a Gold Star for Ashlar House from me
My father had been in hospital for a month after his dementia symptoms had been too much for my 82 year old mother to cope with any longer. He had been very challenging on the hospital ward and had ended up needing one to one care. He was about to be discharged and I was desperate to find suitable accommodation. I stumbled across Ashlar House at Epping with an internet search and arranged to visit; I'm so glad that I did. My father arrived there from hospital the next day. Having been there now for six weeks, I can say that the care that he has received has been excellent, and the help and support offered to myself and my mother and sister has been exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble.
Sharon Osborne has a 'hands on' practical approach and makes herself accessible at all times. Her door is always open, and together with Flavia, Paul and the rest of her team, complete care is provided both to residents and their relatives. For anyone negotiating the nightmare of putting a loved one into care I have no hesitation in recommending Ashlar House.
Avoid at all cost. I wouldn’t send my dog there
I wish I had seen these reviews before I wasted my time visiting their care home in Epping. The staff I saw were obviously telling me what they thought I wanted to hear, however when they thought I was out of earshot, the way they spoke about one of their colleagues was absolutely appalling and could be classed as bullying. One of the residents was asking where her hot food was, and this one female, who I presume was staff tried to convince her that she had already eaten, when it was quite clear she hadn’t. The home seemed clean enough but the atmosphere inside just didn’t feel right, it was plain to see that the staff were putting on a show. When we left we happened to bump into a lady whose mum was there and she clearly wasn’t happy and was looking at taking her out of there.
Shocking experience
OK, where do I start? I went in as a kitchen assistant and expected to cook?? On minimum wage? I don't think so. Totally incompetent chef/care assistant who used to come into kitchen in her care worker get up? Cross contamination? Agency chefs that never showed up and brought my own food in as what was produced there was truly dreadful. Was sold down the river basically. I hope to god its improved? Every pan burnt and since when have spaghetti hoops on toast been fine dining? Truly shocking experience.
My mum was in care provided by…
My mum was in care provided by Barcester in Hull. What a disgrace this company is. Poor care provided and poor property maintenance!! Not all the carers where poor but most!!
Avoid this company
Barchester's introduction is all a bunch of s***, after working in one of the homes for about a year. 30% of the carers actually care, none of the residents are happy. The management honestly just are covering there own a** from their managers (same the the nurses who do bare minimum) and so on... so the company doesn't get sued and continues to make mad profit (which as in employee you'll never see). Brilliant introduction... into a world of stress, followed by a job of pure horrible treatment. (first month in and someone I used to work with came up to me and said "ohhh you work there... nasty people") btw it doesn't matter what home it is, its the same company, same management and same experience you'll have. good luck :)
Promised the world!!!
Promised the world & receive absolutely nothing other than crushing pressure, no break, minimal training, yet expected to take full responsibility for a floor of 30+ residents & the entire care team with no support from management who literally turn a blind eye to staff having mental breakdown infront of them! Please don’t get involved, it will cause you so much misery.
Threats over a review
I left a review back in April saying how if I could give this company 0 stars I would etc … I have recently received a letter from this company threatening me with solicitors if I do not remove my previous review. Do they bully everybody who leaves a bad ( but truthful ) review ?? Mine was just 1 of many . The company should be embarrased that they are using threats 3 months after the previous review was posted. I named the home I worked for which I am entitled to do so just like I am entitled to speak the truth. I look forward to my next letter of threats. You should be ashamed of yourselves
My mother is in a Barchester Care Home…
My mother is in a Barchester Care Home in the North of Scotland. It is a horrible place. The carers are pleasant enough but they seems to change very frequently. The management are cold and uncaring and seem to think, since Covid, that they own the residents and treat the families like they are an inconvenience or naughty children. The dementia side of the home frequently smells so foul that I feel like I am going to vomit. Things go missing all of the time, and if you ask about it, no-one knows anything. Or the manager accuses you of suggesting the staff have taken it. I feel she does this to make the staff feel hostile towards us as a family. I think it is more likely another resident has taken it quite innocently but the staff make no effort put things back with who they belong to. I worry when I buy mu mum nice things because I knwo that she will not have them for long. This is despite labelling everything we can. Given that this home cost in excess of £1800 a week, the service is very poor. My mum's pillows are filthy and there is not a proper cover on the bed. The bins in the toilet are always full. There are no on-suite facilities, just very basic toilet and sink. Mum's rooms is tiny. Indeed the facilities for the dementia residents are cramped, with the lounge serving as the dining room too. In the non dementia side there is a dedicated dining room and there is a large and spacious lounge. However, residents and their visitors are ejected if there is a team meeting, no matter how small the meeting (two people). My mum used to be so fussy about her appearance but minimal effort is put into trying to keep her as the lady that she was. The family are made to feel that we are being unreasonable if we query anything. The manageress runs the home with an iron rod and if you ask the staff anything, no matter how routine, then they have to check first. For example if I wish to take my mum out into the garden - they have to check. The dementia side have no direct view of the garden from their tiny lounge, that's just for the people who do not have dementia. Dementia patients are treated like they have no value and as second class citizens. it's like apartheid. I would hate to be in such a horrible place myself, once you enter the dementia side, it grim. It is like a horrible prison, a real institution, rather than a home from home. The residents are inmates and obviously just a source of income.I wish my mother was not in there, but unfortunately, I and other close family members are not making this decision. I would remove her tomorrow. This home gets good reviews, I do not know how this happens, as it is not a reflection on the care and service they provide. Do not put your loved one in a Barchester Home. The management do not care.
bad company to work for they think its…
bad company to work for they think its acceptable to have 1 staff member covering the floor on their own, bullying other staff members, cover things up and never do anything with the residents and 0 support from management.
Absolutely dreadful company,if you want…
Absolutely dreadful company,if you want your loved ones to be treated with respect, don't send them to a barchester health care home and line the pockets of Pete claverley and the other Muppets,do yourselves a huge favour and look for a better care home, your loved deserve better. You have been warned.
Chorleywood Beaumont lost a private item of property
Chorleywood Beaumont lost a private wheelchair I had loaned to a resident. No mention of reimbursement for my asset . If care is as bad as looking after personal possessions there is no hope for this care home. Would chorleywood beaumont or barchester care to respond , at which point I'll review my response.
I would rather spend the day with ISIS…
I would rather spend the day with ISIS I truly believe I would be treated with a lot more respect from a gang of radicalised men than I would by certain staff members. Working for Mount Tryon affected me in so many ways and I now will never work in another care home. There is 0 support from any management. You’re constantly put down and all the staff go to work for us to smoke cigarettes and gossip. It’s an embarrassment of a place. Needs closing. Mount Tryon will never come off the ground.
Absolutely appalling working practices
Absolutely appalling working practices. Discrimination is at the core of their recruitment process. Losing data and covering up breaches. Manager has no HR knowledge at all. Disgraceful behaviour.

Did not want to give a star but unable to leave a review without a star.
As a family we removed my Dad from this home due to lack of care and attention to his needs, hygiene, and a complete lack of communication with staff and their attitude to our concern as his family.
Despite meetings with staff this did not improve and we took the decision to move him to a new care home,we cannot praise the new home high enough,he is clean, well fed and they care with affection for Dad and ourselves his family for which we are very grateful.
Very disappointed with Barchester Head Office as they promised they would investigate and contact us when they had finished their investigation,I have sent emails with no response, also QCC I reported this home still awaiting an update .
Awful care practices Barchester…
Awful care practices Barchester Shelburne Lodge care home, High Wycombe, my friend is a resident here and has had the worse care experience you wouldn't give to your enemy. So much to say but one of the worst is that he was ringing his buzzer for help as the electric plugs were sparking in his room, as usual staff ignored his call bell, to get their attention, he had to turn the volume on his TV up on full blast to get them to come and tell him to turn it down just so he could alert them to the fire. Since this incident they still continue to ignore his call bell; absolutely disgusting. He is a diabetic and has been sent out to visit me without being given breakfast when he arrived to me his sugar levels were extremely low. They give him sugary drinks and food to eat knowing his diabetic and on many occasions have not given him supper and I have had to drive half an hour to bring him food. The attitudes of staff are uncompassionate and unprofessional in every sense, they locked him in his room during the omicron out break even though he tested negative everyday, they failed to wash and turn his position during locking him in his room as to his care plan. He goes months even close to a year without having a shower, DO NOT SEND ANYONE TO THIS PLACE ALL THEY ARE INTERESTED IN IS THE MONEY. To give him the vaccine they lied to him and told him that he would not be able to fly back to his country to see his kids and grand kids knowing that he is able to fly, this is against the law and his rights were violated by their lies. They even went as far as to tell him if he didn't give them his bank details so they could take the payment for his care at the home he would be chucked out of the home, knowing he has no family to care for him. The list of their behaviour is too much to relate and sickening across the whole of Barchester.
