The app is really outdated on UX. The "unique" tool is a torx 2mm (?) owned by everyone (!) and the battery time is short. But - it's a decent insurance, anyways :)

Regarding the tool, while it may look like a standard 2mm Torx screwdriver, it’s actually customized for our tracker and not a commonly available tool. As for the battery life, the tracker operates in different modes for different purposes, and the mode you're using directly impacts battery performance. We’re constantly working to improve battery life. However, it’s important to note that this is the world’s smallest multi-technology tracker, plus it has an integrated battery. Despite its compact design, we’ve optimized it for maximum efficiency. We appreciate your understanding, and we’re glad to hear that you find it to be a decent insurance!

We recommend you get in touch with our customer service (support@bikefinder.com) to make sure your tracker is installed correctly. Since the tracker is using different signals with different accuracies, they could make sure you receive all signals.

The movement detector on your tracker can be switched on and off, like the alarm system of a house. When you are going for a ride, you can switch on and off notifications or alternatively change the mode (from security to standard mode), both in the app.

Enkel montering, dårlig batteritid
Enkel å montere, nesten usynelig om du ikke vet den er der. App er også enkel å installere og lett å lære / forstå. Batteriet derimot er elendig. Kort varighet, og på vinteren er det praktisk talt umulig å lade når det er kaldt. Lader ganske enkelt ikke om det er kuldegrader. ( da bør sykkelen stå i varm garasje e.l ).

Spesifikt heter det i loven: "Ekstrem kulde og høy varme reduserer batteriets evne til å ta til seg lading, og batteriet bør bringes til moderat temperatur før lading." Dette er viktig for både sikkerheten og levetiden til batteriet. Vi forstår at dette kan være upraktisk i kaldt klima. Takk igjen for at du deler din erfaring!

I have mixed feelings about this purchase because it is very practical and hides well in the handlebars
On the other hand, sometimes the trackers are not precise and provide information to the tracker within 100 meters around
It might have been a bug but now it works fine.

No help during the theft
Unfortunately, BikeFinder falls short of my expectations. Although my smartphone allows push notifications for the app, I receive none, neither when the bike is moved nor when the battery is low. Also, the position determination via GSM is much too inaccurate, e.g. radius from 1.2 to 3.4 km, and GPS signals are sent far too infrequently. Also, during the theft, no signal was sent for over 15 hours, although the bike was moved across Europe. I cannot recommend BikeFinder and will look for alternatives for my new bike.

In general, we recommend making sure your phone allows push notifications for the app, which you have done. Additionally, it’s a good idea to test if everything works correctly right after setting up the tracker. This way, we can ensure everything is working properly before a theft situation occurs.
After reviewing your case, we noticed that your smartphone is a Google services-free device. BikeFinder relies on Google services to ensure optimal functionality, including push notifications and accurate tracking.
