We were agroup of 3...grandmother and 2 granddaughters very nervous of travelling so far away.
We just wanted to thank Ling very much for a brilliant holiday in Japan. What an experience! The tours made sure we saw it all.
Our guides were really lovely and the hotels well placed and comfortable.
Without all your help and guidance I doubt we would have managed. Ling speedily answered our frequent emails requesting more information.

We have just returned from the Ultimate Japan Tour which was amazing. From our first contact with Emperor Tours (Ling) through to the end of our holiday we have had excellent communication. We were booked on a small group tour but the other 8 travellers in our group had their flights cancelled so were unable to come but Emperor Tours sorted everything out, at very short notice, so that we could still enjoy our trip. We had a lovely tour guide, Amanda, who gave us a personal tour of Japan. We felt very well looked after. This tour is an excellent mix of cities and quieter areas of Japan. We were blown away by the stunning cherry blossom trees in some locations that were at their peak. We stayed in some lovely hotels which were in good locations near stations so good for travelling around.(Tokyo hotel room was small but that's quite normal for a capital city so not a problem).We enjoyed the Ryokan with a banquet dinner and our stay in the Buddhist temple too. The early morning prayer ceremony was a very meditative experience. This is the first tour we've done and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

You really see how good a company is when something goes wrong, we were due to travel on the Ultimate Japan tour on 31 March and have had to delay our trip due to flights operating (or not operating!) via Dubai.
Ling was so helpful it trying to rebook alternative flights and offering alternative dates.
We can't travel on the date we planned, but we're rebooked and at the same price. While we are very disappointed not to be leaving on the date we planned we're also extremely grateful for the support and effort put into rearranging our trip, especially when it was completely outside of Emperor Holidays control

We have recently returned from the Ultimate Japan 17 day tour. Emperor Tours was recommended to us and proved to be an excellent recommendation. Ling's communication was excellent from the very beginning. She answered our questions by return and we were quickly given all the information we needed to book the tour. The tour is quite fast paced with some lengthy bus journeys . It incorporated all the places we wanted to see. The group was only 10 people which was a big advantage as it gave plenty of time to see each place we went to without being rushed. We were also given some time on our own during the trip. So, it was a good balance. The hotels were all good quality and well placed near to public transport, places to eat and shops. There is an option (when booking) to upgrade to superior hotels. We did not do that. We would make mention that the hotel in Tokyo had a mediocre breakfast and a small room. The tour guide was extremely pleasant and polite. She was very knowledgeable about Japan and gave us a lot of general information during the trip. Occasionally, her organisation and specific information fell short. As an example. She told us at the viewing platform of the Tokyo Tower we could purchase an extra ticket to go to the next platform. She should have told us that on the ground floor before going up. Consequently, we couldn't go to the top most platform.
We have not given Emperor Tours 5 stars for this reason.
We would not hesitate in recommending Emperor Tours. They are a small service orientated company. The tour met all our expectations and we came back with a comprehensive overview of Japan. Additionally, we had two extra nights in Tokyo (arranged separately by Emperor Tours) prior to meeting the group and tour start date. This proved to be very useful to allow more time in Tokyo.
Thank you Ling and the whole Emperor Tours team. We are left with fantastic memories of Japan.

We have just returned from Emperors Tours’ 16 day Tokyo to Seoul -Japan & South Korea tour.

Our fourth trip with Emperor, and once again it was a fantastic experience.

The tour offered an exhilarating mix of temples, palaces and ancient history alongside big city highlights, bullet trains and plenty of fun.
There were so many wonderful moments, but just as importantly, we came away with a real flavour of Japanese and Korean culture.

Emperor delivered an exciting, well paced schedule with plenty of free time to explore ourselves.
The planning and organisation were flawless, with beautifully chosen hotels throughout. Drivers and guides always messaged ahead to introduce themselves and confirm pick-ups, which was especially reassuring when travelling between cities.

Emperor are a great company to travel with - beautifully organised, culturally rich, and an absolute joy from start to finish.

In every respect, Emperor Tours provided an absolutely excellent service throughout, culminating in a wonderful and memorable first-time private-tour holiday to Japan. Ling worked with us to tailor the standard Highlights of Japan itinerary to match our preferences, offering helpful advice, suggestions and guidance, liaising as necessary with the local team to confirm details and provide responses to all manner of queries.

From the outset it was clear that arrangements were in very capable and professional hands.

Rather than transfer from one guide to another as we moved from location to location, our local guide, Serena, accompanied us throughout, which ensured great continuity and was a real bonus. An outstanding tour guide, she is engaging, knowledgeable, resourceful, with excellent English language skills and a good sense of humour. On first meeting, she took time to understand our priorities and preferences, allowing us to quickly relax and focus on enjoying a much-anticipated adventure.

I recently went on the Best of Japan tour with Emperor Tours. I travelled in 2016 to China with them and had an outstanding experience. After much research, I decide to go again with them to Japan. I felt that the tour included the main things that I wanted to see and do. I was told that the group size would not be more than 16, which was one of the reasons that I chose them. As a solo traveller, I was delighted to find that the group only had 6 people, which made it easy for me to make connections. We got on extremely well and had a wonderful time together. I can highly recommend them for this aspect. We saw large group tours and how difficult it was for the travellers.
Our tour guide, Annie, was an absolute gem. She had an excellent command of English and was very knowledgeable about all the places that we visited. She was extremely helpful and supportive. For example, she realised that visiting 4 sites in one day in Kyoto was too challenging, so she gave up her afternoon off so that we could go to one of them the day before.
The tour included a fantastic range of sites in Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Takayama, Shirawago, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajama, Osaka and I extended my holiday in Hong Kong.
Our hotels of a very good standard, varying between 4 star and 5 star. The only one we didn’t like was the first one in Tokyo, because it was a bit out of the way for restaurants and shops (as a first day arrival). One couple had arrived a day earlier. I wish I had done that. I would have liked more time in Tokyo, but the rest of the trip made up for it.
Ling was my contact throughout and she was very helpful in every aspect of the trip. She communicated regularly and helped with my enquiries. We had one criticism of too much use of public transport in Kyoto and she immediately arranged a mini bus for us in Osaka.
My personal highlight was the island of Miyajama (the shrine was spectacular and I loved the little village and roaming deer). To visit that before the Hiroshima Peace Museum was an excellent balance of experience. I was delighted that we saw Mount Fuji (not always guaranteed). Each of the places that we visited was different and beautiful. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and it lived up to and beyond my expectations. I loved the tour and can highly recommend that you travel with Emperor Tours.

Great service from Ling who was extremely helpful and arranged a Tokyo stay for me with tours as I was seeing my Japanese friends. Even hlped me obtain my boarding passes for both flights as the BA website would not allow me. Pickups from Airport and Hotel were faultless. Thank you Ling

We had taken two previous trips with Emperor Tours, and found the service first class. Again for our Best of Japan trip, when we had any queries, it was great to only deal with one person, Ling Todd, who had everything at her fingertips. We have no hesitation in recommending Emperor Tours.
We took up Ling’s suggestion to go out to Tokyo a day early. In addition to the scheduled visits for the first full day, this allowed us to travel around Tokyo on our own and see the view from the Tokyo Government Building Observatory, and to visit Ueno Park with the Zoo and the National Museum.
Pick up from Narita airport and return to Osaka airport was in very comfortable vehicles. The drivers contacted us in advance on WhatsApp to confirm times. We had a minibus for the first few days to visit Mount Fuji, and to move on to Takayama and Kanazawa. From then on we used bullet trains and public transport in the cities.
We were pleased to find that there were only 6 people in total on our tour. We were fortunate to be accompanied by Annie, our tour guide, throughout the whole tour. She was knowledgeable, experienced and considerate, she spoke excellent English and never got us lost!
The hotels were of a very good standard, with a wide range of foods available for breakfast. The hotel in Tokyo had spacious rooms and a very attractive Japanese garden, and on our first few nights we found the Seven Eleven convenience store (in a side corridor in the hotel) very useful, as the staff will heat a meal chosen from the cabinets. The Sheraton hotel in Hiroshima stood out amongst a very good set of hotels.
The places we visited on the itinerary were fascinating, and although we were walking at a leisurely pace, the use of public transport in cities made the days very long, as we often had to stand in trains, subway, trams etc holding on to hanging straps, in hot, humid conditions. We were sometimes too tired to go out to find a restaurant at the end of the day. The itinerary for Kyoto included 4 visits on one day, but our guide suggested we visit the Fushimi Inari shrine on our free afternoon on arrival in Kyoto to make the itinerary more manageable the next day. A minibus in Kyoto would have been a useful addition to shorten journey times. Ling responded very quickly to our email about our concerns regarding the use of public transport and arranged a minibus for Osaka, for which we were very grateful, especially because of the heavy rain that day.
All in all, it was an excellent holiday. We could not have wanted to see more in the time available.

The flights and hotels were very good and the transfers were very well organised, including our extension visit to Tokyo at the end of the holiday. Our guide, was excellent. He was charming, friendly, very well informed and organised. He was clearly skilled in leading a diverse group of people, while making his role appear relaxed. This meant that we too felt relaxed and confident. We were able to take advantage of opportunities to visit japanese gardens while the rest of the group followed the itinerary, as we hoped when we booked the tour. The guide accommodated our alternative activities graciously. His contribution to the success of the holiday was enormous. We would certainly recommend Emperor Tours to others.

My wife and I have just returned from the 2-week “Best of Japan” tour with Emperor Tours, and it exceeded our expectations. The entire trip was well-organised, and our guides were polite, informative, and always helpful.

Japan itself is an amazing country—fascinating culture, stunning sights, and incredibly friendly people. The itinerary was quite full, but we were glad to cover so much in a limited time. We travelled by coach and also got to experience the bullet train, which was a highlight!

Hotels were centrally located and comfortable, with some really standing out. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free. We came back with amazing memories and tons of photos.

We’d definitely recommend Emperor Tours to anyone planning a trip to Japan!

The tour was an expensive disaster. Although the travel logistics were satisfactory the guides they gave us were, with one exception, dreadful.
The Osaka guide's first words to us were..'I'm not an English guide".... WTF!!! We paid top price for someone who couldn't speak English and had no apparent knowledge.
The second guide was a 22 year old Chinese girl studying International biz. She could barely speak English and 'guided' us by reading from her phone. I'm not making this up!
The third guide was good.
The fourth guide for Tokyo was a 20 year old who could speak English but was unintelligble, wispy voice and spoke in disjointed phrases that might have meant something but it was hard to tell.
The whole tour was a maddenening waste of time and money.
Avoid this company!

This was our first tour with a small group & we thoroughly enjoyed it. Small group made it so much personal as we got to know other group members & didn’t feel isolated. Slash was just amazing. All the staff including the tour organiser Ling was friendly & helpful. Looking forward to another trip with Emperor tours.

This was an absolute gem to find. Emperor Tours and staff were so responsive, attentive and helpful. The small group was exactly that which made the whole trip so much more personal.
There's a lot to pack in on a trip to Japan - could be overwhelming but I think the itinerary for "Best of Japan" is well balanced and provides a comprehensive and genuine look at the Country.
Hotels were just right, organisation and execution of the itinerary with a superb Guide (Slash) made what initially appeared daunting (Japan is on steroids!), a most memorable and fabulous trip. Will have to return - with Emperor - don't think there's a better choice out there and when you see the huge number of some tour groups hitting the landmarks, Emperor was the right company to have toured with.

8-Day Explore Japan: Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tokyo – Exceptional Experience

Organised, conscientious, caring, timely, and diligent — Emperor Tours absolutely smashed this holiday. We are incredibly grateful to Ling Todd, who meticulously organised every single detail. From the moment we began planning, Ling was there to guide us through flight options, preferred airlines, dietary requirements (including vegan meals for one of our travellers — not an easy feat in Japan!), and personalised adjustments to our itinerary.

She coordinated all airport and tour transfers seamlessly, with private messages from each taxi driver sent via WhatsApp at least 12 hours ahead of time. Ling thought of everything — from bed preferences and check-out times to a beautifully printed and bound itinerary complete with flight and tour tickets, as well as custom baggage tags.

There was truly no stone left unturned. If you’re looking for an stress-free, thoughtfully crafted, and unforgettable experience in Japan, I cannot recommend Emperor Tours highly enough.

This tour of Japan allowed us to see different cities and to experience a night in a Buddhist monastery.
Travelling by train requires light luggage and the Japanese agent substituted a private car on a number of days which made life much easier. Hotels were excellent. I would recommend this company.

Having had wonderful trips to China and Cambodia with Emperor Tours in the past we didn’t consider any other company to travel to Nepal with. Once again the experience was fantastic! The booking process was handled by Ling in her usual expert manner; we stayed in exceptional hotels and had the benefit of excellent guides. A truly memorable holiday and I will not hesitate to travel with Emperor Tours again!

Tale of 4 Cities - what an epic trip!! Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka.

We couldn't recommend Emperor Tours enough for their overall service. The itinerary had been carefully constructed and everything went swimmingly well! My daughter and I shared milestone birthdays whilst in Japan and everything was just perfect. The guides were extremely considerate, knowledgeable and patient. We had the best time!
