Ordered a plate for my wife's car Sunday evening, realised that I didn't have a V5 with the old reg as I had just taken off the private plate. I tried to cancel the order within 4 mins. However, they said I should have read the small print and the plate was already made!! Absolute rubbish !!
I would never use this company ever or recommend it to anyone. AVOID !!!

We are sorry you are unhappy, but unfortunately your review leaves out a very important part of what actually happened.
You did send us an email shortly after placing your order on Sunday evening. However, that email contained no order number, no registration number and no other order details that enabled us to identify which order you wanted to cancel.
We replied to you that same evening, at 18:27, specifically explaining that we could not locate your order and asking you to provide either your order reference or the registration number.
You did not reply with the registration LR14 MXW until 10:39 the following morning.
So while you sent an email shortly after ordering, it is misleading to suggest that we received an identifiable cancellation request within four minutes and simply refused to act upon it. We cannot cancel an unidentified order, and we actively contacted you asking for the information required to locate it.
By the time you supplied that information the following morning, your personalised plate had already been processed and manufactured.
This was also not a case of us simply telling you that you “should have read the small print”. As a DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier, we are legally required to obtain the prescribed documentation before releasing legal number plates. The requirement for documentation is explained during the ordering process and again prominently in the order confirmation.
Your plate has not been lost and your money has not been taken without providing the product. LR14 MXW has been manufactured and remains held for you. Once the required documentation is supplied and approved, it can be despatched.
We appreciate that you wanted the plate quickly and that you subsequently realised you did not have the necessary documentation available. However, that does not change the sequence of events above.

Poor customer
It’s not always about the problem itself; it’s about how you deal with the problem.
Unfortunately, the way Quick Plate has handled this situation has been extremely disappointing. I would have expected a company that values its customers to listen, understand the circumstances and try to find a reasonable solution, rather than simply hide behind terms and conditions.
Good customer service is about resolving problems, not making customers feel like the problem.

Thank you for your response.
I am not interested in going around in circles or repeating the same points. My concern has never been solely that you declined a refund; it is the way the situation was handled from the outset.
I cancelled the order immediately after placing it. However, you have stated that because my initial email did not include an order number or vehicle registration, you were unable to identify the relevant order until almost three hours later. I find that difficult to understand, particularly as the cancellation request was sent from the same email address used to place the order. In my view, the order should have been identifiable from those details, or I should at least have been contacted promptly for clarification.
By the time you located the order, you say the plate had already been manufactured and therefore could not be refunded. You have also said that this is not simply a matter of relying on your terms and conditions. However, the practical effect of your position is that the order was treated as non-refundable because the plate had supposedly been made before the cancellation was processed.
That is why I questioned the manufacturing timeline. If the plate was manufactured almost immediately, despite my cancellation request being sent straight after the order was placed, it raises a reasonable question about when production actually began and whether the cancellation could have been acted upon sooner. This is particularly relevant because, although you say the plate was made immediately, it may still have taken approximately a week to reach me. The delay between manufacture and delivery makes the explanation difficult to reconcile and was not adequately addressed.
I accept that you are entitled to explain your position, just as I am entitled to explain my experience of your customer service. My criticism is based on the lack of clarity around the timeline, the handling of my cancellation request, and the explanation provided afterwards.
As for leaving a second review, I did so because I felt your original response did not address those concerns satisfactorily. I was not attempting to change your position or continue an argument; I was explaining my experience so that potential customers could make an informed decision.
Ultimately, this is not about the value of the plate. It is about how a customer is treated when an order is cancelled promptly and questions arise about the handling of that cancellation. In my opinion, this is where Quick Plates fell short.
I have now explained my position clearly and do not intend to continue an endless exchange about it.

We are disappointed to see that you have chosen to leave a second negative review concerning exactly the same order and cancellation request, particularly as we have already provided a very detailed response to your original review explaining precisely what happened.
This is not a case of “hiding behind terms and conditions”.
You contacted us asking to cancel but did not provide an order number or registration number, meaning we could not identify the order you wanted us to stop. We replied asking for that information, and it was not supplied until nearly three hours later. By the time we could identify the order, your personalised number plate had already been manufactured.
We listened to your complaint, investigated it and explained the circumstances at considerable length. Unfortunately, listening to a customer and providing good customer service does not mean that a business must automatically agree to the outcome the customer wants.
The fact that we have declined a refund does not mean that we have failed to “find a reasonable solution”. The plate was manufactured specifically for the registration you supplied and cannot be resold to another customer.
We have already addressed your suggestion that we should somehow have identified the order from an email containing no order number or registration, as well as your doubts about how quickly we manufacture plates, in our response to your original review.
We therefore do not believe there is anything constructive to be gained by repeating the same explanation again here.
We appreciate that you remain unhappy with the outcome, but leaving multiple reviews about the same transaction does not change the facts or our position.

On line fears banished
After trawling through numerous companies I'm so glad I chose quick plates. I was tempted to go to my local Halfords to have the plates made as the thought of having to upload documents for verification was putting me off. The whole process took me about 5 minutes and saved me almost £15. I received an email within 2 minutes confirming the documents had been received and accepted followed shortly be the despatch confirmation. All in all an excellent experience and I'll ve using quick plates for the private registrations I've bought for my 2 sons for Christmas. I'd recommend this service to anyone that has doubts about on line purchases.

Quick plates are very quick to take payment.....
Quick plates are very quick to take payment but very difficult to contact. I used them because I wanted the plates immediately. I ordered a number plate on 26th September. Unfortunately I hadn't uploaded my documents. They hadn't sent me an order number so I emailed them and sent my documents that way. I also sent them a message via their on-line message service because it is not possible to phone them. I did not get a response. When I sent a further message asking for a refund I finally got a reply on 6th September saying that I had agreed to the T&C's and they would not provide a refund. They still didn't bother giving me an order number or any way of sending my documents to them. By this time it was too late because I had had to buy a numberplate elsewhere as I had informed them
Please save yourself time and money and avoid this site!

We’re sorry to read this, but there are a few points in your review that we need to clarify.
When an order is placed, the requirement to provide the necessary ID and entitlement documents is clearly explained as part of the ordering process. These documents must be supplied before we can legally manufacture and despatch registration plates.
For security and data-protection reasons, we do not accept customers’ identification documents by ordinary email. They need to be uploaded through our secure document upload facility.
We also cannot simply cancel and refund an order because the required documents have not yet been supplied. Number plates are personalised goods manufactured specifically to the registration ordered, and the applicable terms, including the documentation requirements, are agreed to during checkout.
We certainly do not deliberately make it difficult for customers to provide their documents, and where a customer is having difficulty accessing their upload instructions, we are happy to resend them.
We would also point out that the dates stated in your review appear to be incorrect, as it says the order was placed on 26 September but that we responded to you on 6 September.
We are sorry that you chose to purchase another set elsewhere rather than completing the documentation required for your existing order with us.

Charged twice after website showed payment was cancelled
I only wanted to order one front number plate.
My first order was #82626. The website showed that the payment had been cancelled and stated that no charge had been made to my card. Because of this, I immediately placed a second order, #82630.
I received only one front number plate, but my bank account was charged £14.78 twice.
I contacted Quick Plates and explained the situation. They acknowledged that the website had displayed an incorrect payment message and said they had since changed the website to prevent this happening again.
Despite this, they have not refunded the additional £14.78.
I do not think this is reasonable. If the website had shown the correct payment status, I would never have placed the second order.
I am now having to pursue the duplicate charge through my bank.

However, we would like to clarify one important point in your review. Your card was not charged twice for the same order. Two separate orders were placed – #82626 and #82630 – and a separate payment of £14.78 was processed for each order.
We appreciate that you placed the second order because you believed the first had been cancelled, based on the message displayed on the website, and we understand why this was frustrating.

Motorcycle plate and self tapping screws
They supplied me with a motorcycle registration plate yet the fixing kit (extra £5) is not for motorcycles, this consists of self tapping screws and some coloured caps, which are good for NO motorcycle (nor is the kit worth £5) only cars for screwing into plastic. If this was clear in the description then I wouldn't have had to waste a fiver.
Bikes require the plastic screw and bolt fixings to fix to the bracket!!!
Quickplates will not pay for return postage even though it's a misleading purchase so beware of this. The plate is fine but if you offer a fitting kit for a bike then supply something that can be used.
As with a lot of online sellers nowadays they are only interested in sales and not customer satisfaction.
Hardly worth returning with the cost of postage.
I rate you very low in customer service, not that you care.
I would also like to add that my motorcycle metal registration plate bracket is standard across all motorcycles and is NOT an "aftermarket" addition.
Offering a fixing kit for a motorcycle registration plate indicates that you know how they are mounted and that you are selling something that motorcyclists can use, this is clearly not the case on both accounts, you clearly do not understand how motorcycle plates are mounted nor is this kit of any use whatsoever to motorcyclists.
Self tapping screws!!!!! Really????

We’re sorry that you were disappointed with the fixing kit, but we do need to clarify a couple of points.
The fixing kit ordered is our standard number plate fixing kit, consisting of screws and coloured caps. We don’t advertise it as a motorcycle-specific fixing kit, nor do we state that it contains plastic bolts for aftermarket motorcycle mounting brackets.
Motorcycles use a wide variety of mounting arrangements, so the fixings required will depend upon the particular motorcycle and bracket being used. In your case, you advised us that you have a metal mounting bracket requiring a different type of fixing.
When you contacted us, we confirmed that you were welcome to return the fixing kit and that we would refund the £4.99 paid for it once received. As the item supplied was the item ordered and was neither incorrect nor faulty, we did not agree to pay the return postage.
We certainly do care about customer satisfaction, which is precisely why we offered to accept the kit back and provide a full refund for it despite having supplied the product ordered.
We’re pleased to hear that you are happy with the motorcycle plate itself, and we’re sorry that the optional fixing kit wasn’t suitable for your particular mounting arrangement.
