Aldi Eccles - unhelpful and arrogant staff

Aldi Eccles - need staff with at least some common sense.

Only use Aldi for the occasional top up shop if I’m not going near another supermarket that day, do my main shop at Tesco.

Called in for a few items, got a small trolley as I have an injury to my shoulder and baskets can get heavy. I put a few extra items in as I went around the store. When I got to the self service tills I noticed quite a few were closed. I waited until a till became free and then went to use one. The member of staff said ‘you’ve got a trolley you’ll have to wait for the bigger till’. I pointed out that I only had a few items and the person using the one large checkout that was open had a full trolley. There were two smaller checkouts free and my items would fit in one bag. She said ‘there’s a sign’ and pointed to a small sign. I said it says up to 20 items I have less than that. If she’d offered a basket I could have put the items in a basket. She then told me to go to a staffed checkout, which I declined. I would not have gone into Aldi in the first place if they didn’t have self checkouts, queues are always too big at the staffed checkouts. So petty and totally lacking in common sense. I asked her to call the manager. I thought he might have some common sense. Unfortunately not and he was very arrogant too.
The same person told another customer to pay for their bag. They said they had brought it with them.
I know there are some very helpful staff at Aldi, but today both members of staff I encountered needed to use some common sense and are in urgent need of some customer service training.
Tesco price match many items and the staff aren’t rude or arrogant.

Shocking 28% premium increase

Used Petplan for years despite not being the cheapest. However, having to look elsewhere, they have just hiked the premium up for my 2 year old dog by nearly £200 this year to £849. Would be slightly cheaper to cancel and take out a new policy, but when I rang them they would not offer any reduction. Shocking! Expect some increase but at that rate how much would it be by the time he's 8?😵
Update - no point emailing as they ask you to. The only option they offer is reducing cover to £4k. If I wanted £4k cover I would have asked for a quote for that amount. The issue isn't the cover it's the 28% increase in premium.

Jet2 good, hotel good overall, lovely resort

Unfortunately, our outbound flight was delayed. Staff must have known when we dropped our luggage off and it would have been useful if they had told us fhe flight was delayed. As they didn't and we had quite a wait at security for a couple of bags to be checked, we were quite rushed and didn't think we had time for duty free. There was no need to feel rushed as it turned out. Good flight though, quiet. The transfer was good, a large minibus and only one stop before us. It was midnight when we arrived at our hotel, disappointing that they did not provide water in the hotel rooms, we were just in time to purchase some from the hotel bar before it closed.
The hotel was rated 4 star, but more a 3 plus. Bathrooms need updating, some mattresses need renewing. Service certainly not 4 star at reception, rather miserable staff apart from the bald chap. Staff friendly and helpful at breakfast and pool bar. Manager is a very miserable rude man. Pool great, always beds available, no umbrellas so limited shade.
Rep was at the hotel frequently. We wanted to hire a car for a couple of days, but Jet2 did not have any available with their provider. The company the rep said she could arrange a car with wanted a minimum €900 excess, which is ridiculous, rather than paying the usual CDW. Maybe they need more contacts for car hire, first time we have not been able to book a car during our stay. Lovely resort with good selection of bars/restaurants. Portugese restaurants a little bit cheaper. Early return flight, supposed takeout breakfast provided by the hotel was disgusting. Ham and cheese sandwich on dry bread, made the day before. They need to either arrange a basic help yourself early option at the hotel, as others do, or provide croissants. Minibud again on return transfer, much better than a coach. Slight delay on return flight, but shorter flight which made up for it. Friendly and helpful flight attendants. Quite a few empty seats, not sure why couples with under 2s who were squashed onto 2 seats didn't move onto one of the empty rows with 4 seats, they would have been a lot more comfortable. One small child was so upset during the flight that they were sick on the back of the seat in front.

Absolutely disgraceful customer care/service

I purchased a camisole nightie in my usual size 12. Sizing was out and it is too big. I returned to exchange for a size 10. I had paid at self service and put the receipt in my purse at the checkout. When I returned the item I got the receipt out and gave it to the staff member, he said there should be two parts. I told him I was only given the receipt I had given him, as I had put it straight into my purse. He said he couldn’t do anything without the other half of the receipt. So the part that I hadn’t been given in the first place. What a rip off. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that he had gone home. Matalan are refusing to allow customers with a receipt to exchange and item.
Update - response from customer services was swift and helpful. I returned to store to exchange as they said the receipt I had would be accepted.
The lady on the till was very helpful, she exchanged the item. She said it happens all the time, people using the self service tills take the receipt and don't realise there will be a 2nd receipt.
So to the lad in Matalan Swinton who I kindly gave the benefit of the doubt, when I told him it wasn't his fault if it was company policy. Well turns out it was your fault, you could have been helpful like the lady who served me today.
Matalan - don't have kids in charge of your stores when the manager leaves early, there needs to be someone with some authority and a little common sense.
I appreciate customer services resolving the issue, but I will not step foot in a Matalan store again. Too many poor customer service experiences.

Flights were a total shambles, TUI ignored complaint

Only booked with TUI as the holiday firm we usually use do not offer holidays to the destination we were looking to visit. I contacted them twice using their complains form when we returned, but they have not bothered to respond. The issues we had related to their flights.
The queue at Manchester airport to drop baggage after checking in online was ridiculous. Even though we arrived 3 hours early, we were worried that we might miss our flight as the queue was so long. Other operators had much shorter queues. The flight outbound was absolutely awful, we were surrounded by a large rowdy group.
When we arrived at the airport for our return flight we were given misleading information by TUI staff re where to check in. We had to ask other travellers before eventually finding a TUI rep. When we arrived at the correct check in desks, it was chaos, there was no structure. There was an issue with the belt for luggage and people were tripping over suitcases.
I can only assume from their lack of response that they don't care.

Excellent, top marks Shoezone

Best retail experience in a long time. Easy to place order, excellent communication. Although I chose standard delivery which was free of charge, delivery was super fast. Item fitted well. If they hadn't I could have easily returned to store for free.

Disgusting behaviour by shop assistant who says she can do what she wants

Just called in to Boots Walkden Manchester for a prescription.
I will never shop at any Boots store again after this experience. The pharmacist is rude and unhelpful, absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever.
Kept me waiting about 5 minutes whilst she stuck stickers on boxes. Another customer asked if I was being served, I said 'no, she's sticking stickers on boxes'.
The pharmacist scowled and said she was dispensing a prescription. I told her I had been asked if I was being served and answered the customer. The other customer said they would go over to Boots. I asked the pharmacist how long she would be she said. I'll serve you when I've finished this one. That wasn't a clue as to how long!
Surprise, surprise, when she checked my prescription they didn't have it in stock. I asked couldn't she have checked that before keeping me waiting, I couldn't just ignore customers at work. She said 'well I can'. If that's the case that just supports the impression given that Boots staff do not care about customer service. Customer facing staff can so whatever they want according to her. Took my prescription to Tesco, service was excellent and staff very pleasant. They even had the item in stock.

Great service, superfast delivery

Great service. Placed my order on a Sunday, priority delivery. Although delivery was estimated as the following day I was it expecting it to arrive on the Monday. However, communication was very good re dispatch/delivery and it did in fact arrive on the Monday. Exceptional service and great coat. Thanks

Super fast delivery

Placed order Sunday 18/12/22, I was thinking I may have left it a bit late for Christmas delivery. Priority delivery estimated arrival 19/12/22. Thought it unlikely seeing as the order was placed on Sunday, however, I received a message later that day saying my order had been dispatched. Received a message Monday morning confirming one hour delivery slot. Excellent.
