I have not been to screwfix in a while but went to this trusted shop for some items today and didn't recognise it in any form in 2 different areas, Hertfordshire and Enfield. It has moved from a DIY browse shop to some form of conveyor belt on line off line situ. Horrible will not be making a return.

This review has nothing to do with any specific store and I would like to say I have had nothing but positive things to say when dealing with members of staff. Now the bad bit. I previously enjoyed scrolling through the clearance items online and over the years I have had many little bargains. However, I am sick and tired lately of spending hours scrolling through hundreds of items starting 5p and above only to find none of the items are ever in stock until I get to items much more realistically priced at near to the original retail price of tens if not hundreds of pound and of course there’s plenty of those in stock!
I have challenged Screwfix in the past about this and they try and tell me that some of these really cheap clearance items are still available but not in my area and that’s why they’re still advertised yet I see the same items time and time again week after week that may have cost £20 to start with And now as low as 10p that of course are never available in my store but are somewhere else in the country and have been for the last month or so. Come on Screwfix sort it out by your own admittance these items sell fast and I understand that which is why something that originally was £20 and they’re down to 10p would sell out almost instantly so how can you justify these items still showing on the clearance page weeks later we all know they don’t exist anymore. They’re just there to entice us.

All the staff at screwfix sheerness alway give great advice. Went into store today and Mike gave advice on a sander that was not the one I went into buy but did the job superbly. Thanks

I always used Screwfix for many years but now use Toolstation. Why would Screwfix change pricing without VAT if not to confuse the public? Go back to show prices including VAT as before.
Until then I'm enjoying Toolstation that include VAT in their prices.Moan over!

I regularly use Screwfix for a lot of equipment for my work projects and have spent a lot of money there, bit yesterday Saturday 2nd May 2025 I.had been spending a lot of time online trying to source 6 new ceiling downlights to fit a 80mm precaution holes.
I.went to the store to see if the ones I had short listed were suitable and basically was treated like an idiot the way the member of staff talked down to me, I had asked for help sourcing ones suitable as I had chosen ones with smaller hole diameter.
I was looked at as if to say i cant be bothered! There were only 3 people in the store at the time, so I went along to Toolstation and they were so helpful and helped me get ones compatible for the holes.
Nothing like Screwfix staff basically acting like they could not be ar*ed doing anything.
This has put me off spending anymore of my money there for sure as they were so belittling in front of other customers.

Just have to say majority of the staff at the bathgate store are helpful but this 1 male member of staff has always been rather unhelpful when asked for help, with the staff being in the know with the products they supply i thought they would be happy to help as pushes sales not push customers away!
He had In past been unhelpful but I had just chose to ignore it and carried on with purchases.
Just this time the manor of being belittled got to me.

Screwfix Bathgate, West Lothian.

I have to say in this instance, they have let themselves down, which is generally not the case,I brought a titan stapler, but trying to get the staples for it is a nightmare, you put in the search on the Screwfix app 18g x 25mm staples, like the ones that came with it and nothing, no matter what you do you can't find them, put titan staples in and again nothing, go on the questions and answers, people ask are these staples compatible with titan gun, answer no, you put the code in and still nothing, so I went on the Amazon site put in 18g x 25mm, and as simple as that a list of compatible staples, if your selling a titan stapler the least you can do is make sure you can get the staples/nails for it. Please Make it easier......

Yet again some 30 something tradesman who thinks his time is more valuable than anybody else's and therefore can't be bothered looking online or in the catalogue, holds other people up who are simply there to collect, by looking at the counter assistants PC. One spent 3 or 4 minutes looking at gate catches and bought one costing £11.40. Better than another guy who engaged a sales assistant for at least 5 minutes and bought nothing. Are the counter staff at Worthing unable to tell these characters to find what they want in the catalogue or deal with those customers first who've spent time sorting their order

Purchased plinth legs for kitchen units.
Builder started work to find parts missing.
Contacted screwfix online chat.
Advised to take items back to store which is a 25 mile round trip.
Alternatively I could reorder items for next day delivery which may not arrive until 6pm and cost an extra £5 charge.
Obviously my builders would have to be paid for wasted time.
No offer of even a voucher towards my petrol if I went straight back to store.
Poor customer service

I made a mini tour of Screwfix stores today - Blandford, Sturminster and Sherborne - hunting down the last few pots of paint in my house colour. All the staff I dealt with were lovely and each one offered to carry the paint to my car.

utterly appalling customer service. I was unable to connect to their number as out of the UK, only to be told to sort out my issue, I had to phone said number! Customer service via email are unhelpful & patronising. Now they appear to be holding my money ransom as nobody is willing to deal with the issue.

Really impressed with their refund service, Aberystwyth branch are always friendly and helpful so thank you.

Umbrella company who don’t deliver. Buy spares is affiliated to Screw fix and they charge for products they don’t have. Refund system is impossible! Useless. Avoid

I posted a review but most were positive and negative!. My review was posted on their site as I made a negative post. So they only post positive so I guess constructive criticism never gets posted,
Screwfix you have to sometimes take it on the chin !.

I usually have good service from Screwfix, but you can't use a voucher online and can't order to pay on collection, so you if the item isn't in stock, you have to go twice - once to order then again to collect.

Nice and clean. Good variety

Bought today the Roughneck Fibreglass Post-Hole Digger, best £40 I've spent, this does the job easily and quickly, the quality is there, feels good and easy to use, I would have been there for hours, it took me 10 minutes

Bought an Ariston water heater from Screwfix. The unit was faulty and I had endless communications with Ariston in one of the most stressful communications I have ever had with a company. Eventually I decided to get rid of the Ariston unit and contacted Screwfix who immediately accepted the return, collected the unit from my home and provided a full refund.

I collected my order today from the Bamber Bridge store and without any hesitation the member of staff offered to carry it to my car for me, as it was a generator and heavy. He kindly put it in my car along with being friendly, polite & jovial- where on earth do you find that these days!!
He cheered me up no end, I’m 70years old now - THANKYOU my man & thankyou screwfix for employing such a great chap👏👏👍

What an utter shambles and non-event their customer service is!
I ordered a set of under cabinet lights, which turned out, you needed a power lead for, which is not supplied or even available at Screwfix (no mention of this on the item listing), so is therefore, not a complete product. After an email or two, it was agreed that a collection would be arrange and a refund issued!
It took over a month for the items to be collected after being fobbed off, we will arrange it platitudes. It took a letter threatening legal action for someone to actually arrange a collection. It has now been almost another month, and no refund issues despite many emails saying this will be processed.
Nobody listens, nobody cares, nobody seems to be accountable.
I guess they just keep fobbing you off until you give up and they keep your money! Not going to happen. A letter before action has been sent along with a strongly worded letter to the CEO.
Shopped for years with Screwfix. No longer, this is the final straw of a company that fails time and time again to get anything right.
